Man you wouldn't believe it. I got 2nd! Winning AOY and qualifying for the bassmaster kayak championship! Ended up throwing a 10xd on a bluff wall right off the main river channel. Appreciate you man. Keep up the content! Wouldn't have won without you and also Johnny.
Boom! I love the deep plug bite! Thanks for the words of encouragement! Congrats on the season! I am right now working on a video for next week that involves the ole deep crankbait... - Jimi
If you've never tried it, might I suggest something called a "Baby Carolina" or a "Carolina Light" - Take a bobber stop, a bullet weight ( usually a 1/4 or 3/8 oz) and another bobber stop to peg that weight up the line as far as you want. Use your favorite hook to Texas rig your favorite bait ( flukes work great). Best part is you can slide that weight up and down to go from dragging the rig to flipping slop and back. I've caught tons of fish doing that in my local waters.
I have heard of anglers using this! It does work in shallow water. I tried doing it in deeper depths and I need the bigger weight and that bigger weight will move the stopper. Thanks for sharing! Works good in the shallow fisheries and is easy to switch up like you said - Jimi
C rig with mono when you want your bait to float….and use the 3x plastic baits, floro leader when you want bait on the bottom, that’s my rule and yes learned to use a fluke on a c rig fishing Sam Rayburn in the mid 90’s!
I know there’s a lot of different ways to fish a fluke: I’m a big fan of nose hooking a fluke with a hitchhiker to hold it in place. Can use spinning rod and light line for clear water applications and not have to have a huge hook set.
Dakota! This can depend on water clarity, typically for me though I am fishing stained water. With being said that I am not afraid to look and target bass anywhere from 15-30 ft with the C-Rig for post spawn bass. You can target deeper fish too but I am comfortable with it in that range.
We answered the question in another comment. It is a tip that a lot of anglers do use. Two days after we posted this video wired 2 fish shared underwater footage of the fluke rigged this way. I have not done this but when bass eats it / sucks it in the hook gets moved to the side or top of mouth. Thanks for watching - Jimi.
I use a offset shank 3/0 ,12lb line , and there great for Top water river small mouth,, catch lots of 1-3 lbrs , the big ones don't seem to want to ride for it though
used a texas rigged fluke last night at a private pond fishing with 2 friends. my 2 friends were using whopper ploppers and caught 2 bass each. I caught 10 bass and the biggest bass of the day at 2lbs 9oz. Flukes are the best damn bait around.
a white fluke is by far my most confident lure. If i cant get a bite, i will get one easy on a white fluke. A lot of the time, i like to pair it with a Owner Flashy Swimmer. It looks like an erratic school of shad or minnow.
Randy will share lures he likes from megabass but on this channel he also will share lures from other companies he prefers. He has a good balance I think - Jimi.
@@davidraguse2106 It is difficult with the Zoom Super Fluke because there is so little plastic to work with, but if you are carful you can do it. The Strike King Caffeine Shad works great because more plastic to work with. I have also fished it using the 1/8th oz on a beaver baits and it works well. I hope that some of the newer designs that Johnny and Matt are working on are some more "weedless" presentations because flipping this to heavier cover would be legit.
Got some bad news to share. I caught a decent bass earlier, and laid my Denali rod down across my deck to unhook the bass. Well I go to pick it up, and half of it is laying under my cleat on my boat rail. Well needless to say it bent backwards and snapped my lithium pro in half 🤬🤬. That's the 2nd rod I've broke in the past 2 weeks like that. I've got to pay more attention when I'm picking them up. But yeah those lithium pro rods are freaking sweet. A guy that runs our local club tournaments got a bunch for free from Denali, so I'll have a replacement tomorrow lol.
No mention of the donkey rig! Last night I went out quick bank fishing before dinner I got 15 in 45 minutes on the donkey rig. All smallies but 2 they were crushing it
He has been fishing it for a long time! It was interesting that we posted this video and the next day Wired 2 Fish posted underwater footage of the same rig - Jimi
It does but Randy mentioned it to me that when the bass hits it / swallows it the hook gets in the side or top still. Wired 2 fish posted a video of this rig the day after we posted our video. It has been a little secret. I have never done it but I am going to try it - Jimi
I tried this the other day and caught a few fish with it. I never got snagged or hung up. I was also fishing it in open water on points. Thanks for watching - Jimi.
Seems like it would get hung on everything in the lake , besides deep open water , even then you would hook them in lower jaw instead of the roof ?????
Makes sense to me with the eye pointed down pulls the bait down and the hook point down presents half a keel making the darting action more erratic, triggering more strikes….
@Intuitive Angling With Randy Blaukat I'll trust you Randy, I still think you should hit us with at least one fish catch to see how it grabs into the mouth, how do you set the hook? I'll give it a try because I've eaten chinese tripe, jumped out of a plane, and took a sip of gas... I'll try just about anything once haha

Yep, for around 12’ or less this is a go to rig for me. Has boated fish for me in a couple kayak tournaments this year.
How does this and the Carolina rig fair in the florida grass lakes? I know you guys fish some grassy spots.
@@zachg5356 I fish shallow lakes choked with veg. This rig works great because the bait is Texas rigged. I use and EWG or worm hook.
@LowBrowFishing very similar to what I fish. This is a must add to my repertoire, huh? Those pre-made setups look great, thanks!

Try zman jerkshad 4&5” , they float up off the bottom look killer on a c-rig

Hey Jimi, When you say you like to fish the Carolina Rig deep is there a certain depth range you are looking for these post-spawn/summer bass? Thanks!
Dakota! This can depend on water clarity, typically for me though I am fishing stained water. With being said that I am not afraid to look and target bass anywhere from 15-30 ft with the C-Rig for post spawn bass. You can target deeper fish too but I am comfortable with it in that range.
Randy, do you not hook the bass in the tongue, which often kills the fish?
It's a horrible tip. I came here for just this. Glad you asked. Also notice your question is being ignored.

Junior fluke with a screw lock completely into the nose and use a weed less hook through nose of bait and screw lock and can be used on spinning gear
Yes sir! Good tip
Try it with a hover stroll rig rigged upside down as with the straight shank
Interesting!
I'm sure that would hook more fish. I'm also sure it would snag a lot if you're fishing in cover or around logs, etc.
Saying you are correct! - Jimi.
Coming to Texas to fish where, which waters?
I will adventure over to east Texas lakes. I have a fork trip soon 😬 - Jimi
