    Thank you for the review, one thing to note is that the rated 2900 lumens are LED lumens and not ANSI lumens, 1000 LED lumens translate for 412 ANSI lumens only. So the rated 2900 LED Lumens are not much for a non light controlled room or for a big screen. I have the LGHU70la which is rated at 1500 Ansi lumens and its pretty dim on my 120inches 0.8 gain screen.

    Not the projector I would pick but I think it is great that Viewsonic brought a budget, low cost of ownership, 4k projector to the market. Hopefully it will force more companies to do the same thing as we really haven't seenixj of a price drop in 4k projectors in a few years. This should not only create some price drops but a trickle down of better technology at the lower prices. $7000 is just too much to pay, especially since we are only a few years away from 100" TV's at that price range that will destroy any projector picture quality.

    • @BuildMontage

      I think it has a lot going for it as mentioned, especially the LED lamp 30000 hours appeals to me. Still, I'm honest in my review, and my Epson has a superior image and it's a lamp based projector.

    • @shaneducholke364
      @shaneducholke364 3 роки тому

      @@BuildMontage without a doubt your Epson is superior. I think the viewsonic is good for the market
      LG also has a 30,000 hour LCD but it too lacks in picturw quality in dark rooms. It must be something with the LCD method to get a lot of hours as they don't seem to like the light controlled dedicated theater market. I would rather take 10 minutes to change a bulb for a better picture anyday, but bulb replacent cost should always be a part of your buying process.
      I am just waiting for the $2500 4k projector market battle to increase to improve the picture quality of that price range.

    • @BuildMontage

      The wireless dongle was for it to get WIFI connection only from memory. Video is too high bandwidth for wireless even now.

    Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for this thing for all of 2020 and most of the reviews come back negative but there are no other LED 4K options I was interested in besides the LG HU70LAB which has the same flaws but is missing some of the perks. A laser and traditional lamp are non starters at this time soooooo, this is the pick. If you have a chance please look into the X100-4K+ as it has improved contrast (and hopefully more) but has no release date at least in the US. Thanks again!

      @@sslnight I don't mind at all. Scheduled delivery is tomorrow (Monday Dec 7th, 2020). I was thinking about doing a in-depth video review of the projector mainly focusing on OS navigation and it's LED ansi lumens. I was thinking about doing it because there currently is not that many in-depths reviews actually there is no in-depths video reviews. Projector central has a good written review and Chris Majestic has a good look at video review but no really good in-depth reviews are currently out there on this projector, especially when it comes to its lumens in differently lite environments using different screen sizes and screen colors/gains. I currently have the Optoma HD27HDR (bulb based) and it's 3400 lumens and is really bright but could be brighter for day use. I own a 120" cinema grey 2.4 gain ALR screen. Not Ultra short-throw ALR and a 80" cinema white 1.1 gain screen. I want to test the projector in different lighting situations with different screen sizes and gains. LED lumens have a higher perceived brightness according to projector central. "This is mainly due to something called the HK (Helmholtz-Kohlrausch) effect, which causes observers to perceive images with higher colour saturation to be brighter than the less saturated ones".
      1500 lumens is less then half of 3400 lumens and 2k-3k is a sweat spot for most home theatre projectors. I want to see in what situations 1500 LED lumens is best in or can it be setup in most situations using combinations of screen sizes, colors and screen gains. There are many reasons why I picked this 4k projector for a upgrade, I'll explain them to you in a written review to you for sakes of keeping this reply relatively short. P.s 3D isn't that important for me but I do like 3D.
