  • Lake Placid and the Adirondack Region is located in Northern New York State. The region is made up of seven different areas - Adirondack Coast Plattsburgh, Adirondack Lakes, Adirondack Seaway, Adirondack Wild, Adirondacks Tug Hill, Lake George and Lake Placid. The Adirondack Forest Preserve, at 6 million acres, is the largest park in the nation outside of Alaska.
The region is known for its outdoor recreational opportunities. Residences and guests enjoy canoeing and kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, boating and fishing along with numerous other adventures. Many choose to relax and enjoy the views of lakes, forest and mountains. Fall in the Adirondacks is especially memorable as the woods explode into seas of color.

Lake Placid was an awesome place to grow up. We could hear the announcer at the speed skating oval from my parents home during the Olympics. The majority of my family and friends still live there. My parents home is within walking distance to main street so it is perfect for family reunions when we all come home! If you have never been there I HIGHLY recommend a visit or a vacation. So much to see and do in the Adirondacks! I live in the mountains of Colorado now, but Lake Placid will always hold a special place in my heart!

Beautiful lake Placid. I just came from vacation with family. Everything extraordinary there ...people, lakes, shops, restaurants, hotels, food, etc.

I miss the 80s and the early 90s, where Main Street had flags from all over the world. Mainly Europe. Seemed like half of the hotels/motels were German. Had the feeling as if you were in the Alps. Now it's still nice, but no the same... Even the Pipe and Book store is closed. The old Lake Placid is not there anymore. It's gone...

I stayed at The Golden Arrow many years ago, it was nice the staff not so nice , then I returned a few years ago , with my sister. If you are looking for warm friendly people , do not go to Lake Placed , my sister also noticed that many of the people have chips on their shoulders .
