    A Fun Art Project from Start to Finish!
    Playing with Posca Paint Pens and a bunch of other fun stuff
    Today’s Tidbit is a rare opportunity to work on a project from start to finish with me. This whimsical, colorful, fun project will bring a smile to your face and you can hang it up right away! I’m working with a stencil directly onto at 9x12 cradled wood panel. I’m printing a ghost print of my The Kiss stencil design with black gesso and then embellishing it with colorfully opaque Posca Pens and Stickles Glitter Gel. This glitter product is awesome because it’s no fuss and no mess but it adds some bling to the background. It will be ready to hang when you are done!

    Oh my goodness! How much fun was THAT?!?! 😁 So freaking cool. I adore this painting, always have. I love that you designed these amazing stencils so that we all may enjoy creating a Klimt masterpiece of our own! Thank you so very much for giving me some much needed inspiration 🙏 Love and Bless

      Lindsey... YOU are my NEW favorite commenter!!!! Thank you thank you so much. I was actually able to SEE THIS PAINTING in Vienna in person. it's breathtaking in a way that only in person can be. EVERYONE could use a little inspiration and that is my purpose on this planet I think sometimes... so many people use that word when they say "thank you" it's really joyful for me. LOVE and Bless to you too Lindsey. have a great weekend

      @@ElizabethStHilaire How gracious you are! This painting was my late husband's very favourite. His lifelong desire was to see it in person. Alas, he never did. When I saw your amazing stencil, my first thought was of him and how much he would have loved creating with it. (We used to paint together on a back-to-back easel, for over 20 years.) When he died, I stopped doing anything creative. The desire to do art fled with his passing. Next month will be 10 years since he's been gone and I have blessedly begun to paint again. I try to honour his memory with everything I create. He would have loved you as much as I do. For it is because of amazingly talented & generous artists like you that I have colour back into my life. I adore your aesthetic and your lovely spirit. I'm ever so grateful to you! Bless 🙏 xo

      @@lindseywarren44 It's one of my favorites too, Klimt IS my favorite artist but he has other work that I love even more than this one. I was so lucky to see it in person but it was a trip I took alone and stayed in a. youth hostel for $5 per night and ate a loaf of bread for the three or four days that I was there, LOL I was a kid, we could do things like that then. How nice that you were able to paint together like that, truly a creative gift. I am SURE your husband is smiling down on you now that you have found your muse again, I am so happy to hear that you are painting again. I cannot imagine my life without painting and I too have lost souls that I honor with my work. ... I am grateful to you too Lindsey! Keep on creating and subscribe to my channel if you have not already, I do try to be INSPIRING!

      @@ElizabethStHilaire I have a whole pile of Da Vinci brand wood panels that are really smooth and seem to be good quality. Should I gesso the panel first before painting on the gold paint? I've never had to do that before, but never gel printed on a wood surface either. Or should I sand the gold paint smooth before pressing the gel plate on it? Now I'm thinking I should buy a big fat black posca just in case the gel print doesn't come out very well.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 роки тому

      @@teribroberg1719 You always have to seal a wood panel so that the acid from the wood does not discolor your artwork. Wood is not archival. Yes I would have a big black Posca marker because the print will never be absolutely perfect. A smooth surface works best with a gel plate but it’s all about experimenting!

    I love this project and I’ve done it on paper, canvas and finally the cradle board. I have not been successful with doing the ghost print onto whichever surface I’m using. I had to use a black posca pen to fill in. I guess I didn’t use enough gesso. Not really a problem, since I enjoyed the coloring! Thank you.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 роки тому

      you might have to apply the gesso a little thicker, it takes a decent amount of paint to make the transfer work. BUT coloring it in with Black Posca works just fine! you are so very welcome.

    Hi Elizabeth! I am trying this out to give to my niece, and wheww you make it look easy! This is my 2nd attempt at getting a good imprint on the board. Evidently I didn’t have enough gesso on the Gelli, so I tried it again and tried to add more, and still didn’t get it as dark as yours, but trying to make it work! Five million dots with the black posca is helping!😂😭 I wanted to ask if the orange you are using for her hair, etc, is the Neon Orange Posca, or the regular orange? I just loved this project you did, and your Klimt stencils! It’s so beautiful, and when I saw it, I knew I had to try it! I love everything you do! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 роки тому +1

      I had to do. mine twice, the first time I did not have enough black gesso. it is a little tricky probably due to the surface of your board. Currently I am trying to gel print on canvas panel and it's not taking it very well. The gel plate works best with a very smooth surface to transfer to. Is your board gessoed and very smooth? the orange I used is labeled "orange" so regular old is it! I am so glad you tried it with your niece and the black Posca fill-in will work just fine. I know it looks easy in the video, I feel the same way when I watch other artists!!!! Thanks Shelly

    • @shellyallred1267

      Thanks for getting back with me, the board I used were the same boards I think you were using, except I wished I had ordered the wider sides, I wasn’t paying attention to that when I ordered them. They felt smooth, but I didn’t gesso the board before I painted it gold. Still enjoying the process, and can’t wait for the glitter part! I think Megan will love it for part of her wedding gift!! Thanks again Elizabeth and good luck with the canvas!💐

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 роки тому +1

      I’m not sure. It is more “stiff” than his later works. I believe it’s a complete embrace with the male figure being shown as completely dominant. It’s the last of his gold paintings that were inspired by Byzantine mosaics in Italy. His style shifted to more curvilinear and colorful and flowing after this painting. :)
