I can’t help but think they have the ability to change their neighborhoods if they wanted too. They are the ones occupying them yet they’re warning people to stay away. Why? If I got to worry about stopping at your gas station then maybe you’re the problem. But I’ve never lived like this and don’t understand the lifestyle. I just wish these guys could see that they’re being kept down. Sometimes you gotta change your own life and stop believing that you are what people say you are. I'm from Dallas and I remember going to NO about 2-3 times a year back in the late 80's earlier 90's because my kids mom was born there but raised in Dallas. I remember the East being pretty descent until after Katrina. I remember b4 they demolished the Florida and Desire projects . Her family was from all over, West Bank, St Bernard, 7th ward, Franklin area, lower 9th wards . I remember when the projects were at war with each others. I haven't been in an minute but that small grocery store off 10 and Tulane had the bomb po'boys. It's some good folks down there but when the state gov't don't put money in the city or investor down invest then things get hectic and frustrating .
I just came across your channel and I am mind blown at the content and quality of your videos. Your videos are some of what I perceive to be, the most realistic portrayals of how life is in these areas. I am from New Zealand and in our 'hoods', life may not always be easy - but the struggle that some people in America face on a daily basis is unreal. Your videos give a whole new perspective on just how unfair life can be for some from the get-go. You give a voice to the people who need to be better understood - especially in a society that can be so judgmental towards the plight of others. Thank you, sincerely 🙏
They are proud of it. Hope they can keep it up. They need to create a award show for most dangerous hoods, so they can get awarded instead of doing it for nothing.
I appreciate your work man, glad to see that you've been to hollygrove, I grew up with weezy and birdmans music .. I wish I could go to NO somewhen. Keep on posting content, we love being guided through those streets and hoods, much love from germany

The east is basically the (new) uptown. Once they tore all the projects down, everybody migrated back there. Not to say uptown is a cake walk nowadays, but it’s only a shell of what it was in the 90s. Downtown is known to get it in as well. In the east, you literally could feel the crime in the air when you cross the high rise. It’s really sad when you think about it, but it’s true. To the young brothers, it’s nothing cool about losing friends/love ones as frequent as we do in N.O. I understand that we’re desensitized to the violence, but I pray we all make it out to see a better way of life. 1Luv.
Took the words right out my mouth. These lames actively wake up everyday to stand outside and sweat all day claiming it’s a duty like you mf do not own this apartment and doing security. Who would really go out they way to come to another project pure Disgusting
God be with them all as they go through life . Thanks for letting people know the struggle out there . I tried, too . I've been clean and free of the city drug life of New Orleans for 9 yrs It's nothing nice in them streets . It wasn't back. In 2014, I can only imagine how bad it is now . I keep praying because I love my City of New Orleans and the people in it . Life's hard, and some only know to fight . I will never give up praying for our City!! 😊
New Orleans was exciting to me, although, you can since the death of lives past.. I'm saddened to now know my eagerness to walk all thru the streets of downtown Nola,I'm glad I never ventured east... Additionally, it's exciting to see birdman's place and to hear what the east was like 20 yrs ago.....
Love these videos. Just came back from Mardi Gras 2023 and for some reason being in New Orleans felt a lot less safe than previous years we had visited. On Mardi Gras night we were shoulder to shoulder deep in a crowd on Bourbon and someone yelled out G*N. My husband and I had to duck and run and it was scary honestly. The cops were a block away around the corner. I def feel for the people who live there and have to deal with all the crime bc it seems to be getting worse over the years
And guess what Mardi Gras only happened because cops from 5 other police departments came to help New Orleans is the wild Wild West right now lived her all my life I am 32 and I don’t ever remember it this bad and honestly the scariest part and what one of the problems is is that most of the crime is being done by kids 11-16 years old that and not enough police is why it is so dangerous
For example last year 3 kids tried carjacking me in the city about 130am got into a shootout with them I got shot right above my knee on my leg police never came out !!!!!! They called me couple days later asked what happened and told me they have a suspect who went to emergency room around that time shot 3 times in his stomach 15 yr old kid they told me they would contact me again for more info been 7 months never heard back from them
Been to New Orleans many x's city like no other and we love it down there. The people the food the culture but it is sad to see how bad crime has gotten down there. When dude said keep ur head on swivel at all times man that's the truth
@@ed2901 you nitpick one part of the culture, ignoring the rest. No one complains about jazz, but about crime. That crime, is in those ppl culture. The overwhelming amount of videos on the internet, the lootings, the muggings, the freakouts in fastfoods, the beatings in school, most of the gang related activity, ... always the same ppl, always the same culture. Have you seen how "inclusive" schools and universities become ghetto schools and ghetto universities. Have you seen how affirmative action created even more crime than there was before? Are you blind?
Mannnnn. I love these videos. Not that I love to see my people going through what they going through, but I love that this channel shows these environments and the people who are there give the viewers insight on what’s happening there. Some of these guys wish they grew up in different circumstances, but they weren’t fortunate enough to have that opportunity. While they are still breathing, they are still able to know Jesus Christ and have their soul saved and able to make a change in their communities. I know the Lord can do it for them regardless of how it may look🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
When you grown it's up to you if you want to change your life and environment and you have to decide what you want to become or what you go become apart of. These brothers had a choice to do what they do most just decided they ain't trying to be shit
as someone who lives in the New Orleans area, it’s really isn’t that bad down here. Just mind your business, don’t stare at people, don’t dress all flashy, n treat everyone wit respect you’ll get respect back…for the most part. But never go in the East unless you have family there, it’s really treacherous over there. There ain’t stuff over there tbh.
Crazy part is I'm from New Orleans pre Katrina was all the middle and upper class people live. There was hores ranches, mansions and private schools up and down Haynes Blvd
Anybody reading this it's a daily reminder that GOOD things take time. You got this, keep working and everything is going to be just fine I promise 👏🏽💪🏽
It’s crazy he basically acknowledges that he’s headed in a path that leads to death and prison, yet they persist. Are they just suicidal? Is it that hard to save some money, move to another city, pick up a trade or trucking or something.
It’s Not As Easy As You Think. ONCE You In That Type Of Lifestyle In N.O It’s Hard To Get Out Cuz Plp Want You Dead. It’s Small & Easy Af To Get Caught Up. There’s Kids Out There That Kill Because They Want The Highest Murder Rate. My City Is Wicked. Bt It’s Still A Beautiful City. You Gotta Be From There To Know.
God I don't know how I survived 🙏 But I love New Orleans and I love New Orleans people...I appreciate the love and the help I received when I was there! ❤️ Did fullfill one of my dreams tho. Love the art, music and movies and the how the city is run. It truly on loc. Thank you 😊 First place in the world I didn't feel alone! 100%. I truly LOVE ya! Ts different for sure. It's so strange how it felt like home to me.
But that’s a big part of the problem: *_no one_* is stepping up when a crime takes place. Why else do you think ghetto areas have so much violence? All the neighborhoods that are actually safe at least have a neighborhood watch
The cycle will never stop because when you raising young children in this type of environment, do you really think they gonna break the cycle, very few people do. It’s truly sad because I’m from Louisiana and I love my home state, I wish this life style wasn’t glamorized like it is. I don’t understand why these young men, especially once they have children, why they don’t think about showing their kids another way. It’s possible, give your children a fighting chance. I live in a very mixed neighborhood where there’s close to a equal amount of white and black families, everyone lives in harmony. No gun battles, no violence, beautiful homes, everyone gets along. I will say people don’t bother their neighbors though at all, like you won’t have someone come knock on your door to borrow something. I grew up in the country and that part I miss, the community back then was like a huge, amazing family but my neighbors are very nice people. I truly believe we all work too hard to have what we have, so there’s no extra time for non sense. People who live in the areas like this in New Orleans, the culture is basically a kill or be killer culture. The whole of New Orleans is not like this, but a lot of it is.
Ima street nigga too so I get it but if it’s so dangerous right there why not just go in the house. Or idk.. anywhere else. Don’t let ya pride get in the way man. Part of being in the streets is being smart and being right there is exactly not that. Y’all can change but y’all just gotta put y’all pride to the side
Facts I’m from Louisiana niggas pride is on another level can’t tell niggas nothing…it’s easy when there’s no hope an no vision also if you notice on every hoodblogs it’s always a group of niggas …I tell all my youngins separate yourself that wrong crowd shit is real
This is what happen to your mind when you become a product of your environment they made a living hell for themselves I like watching these videos to keep my mindset right and on god and to keep me staying out the way of all this madness that's in the streets . I rather go to work everyday than sitting in a dead end block where death is around the corner and life in prison also to me life to short to be living this way.
I got the hell out of New Orleans in 2017 and never looked back. I worked on bourbon from 13 to 37 I'm so happy that I moved out that Westbank. Rip Soulja Slim and Brandon Montrell.
I lived in the LGD (Annunciation/Orange St), in the 90's for several years......my heart still breaks. Thank you for this video. Love to my NOLA peeps.
Hoover tried that in chicago during the late 70s and they got him. It was attempted in 1988 with a famous truce, but corrupt LA cops shot a well known crip and took his car through a blood neighborhood to start the war back up.
This is amazing. Grown men playing real life call of duty like it’s cool. Ashame. Not a single one works, no future but prison. It’s ashame not real life young brothers.
Mannn this is a trip seeing because I’m born & raised Kansas City Missouri. Growing up we called it Killa City but for not such a large place it had its share of murders & crime. I now live in Lafayette Louisiana and I love it honestly. Even there has its rough side of town but what place doesn’t. And NOLA ain’t but as big as a finger snap 🫰 to be murder capital is bad it’s not BIG CITY more like a town with a lot of charisma rich culture!!! I’ve met some beautiful soul folks from NOLA but it’s evil folks all throughout America
From Mid-City Bank St! My city is crazy bruh! I just passed by MLK as I was watching this. But fr da crime gotta stop. People are getting shot on the interstate. Uber drivers, Lyft drivers, cats, dogs, birds anyone and everybody can get it smh. You gotta stay strap here. It’s a must. You just don’t know when shit will pop off. The city got so much more to offer too. A lot of culture and history downtown and uptown, shit all over the city. Stop the crime doe mannng!
“We black men have a hard enough time in our own struggle for justice, and already have enough enemies as it is, to make the drastic mistake of attacking each other and adding more weight to an already unbearable load.”- MALCOLM X praying for my people.

I live on the Northshore and grew up about 2 hours away from Nola, but a lot of my family still lives in New Orleans. This past Mother’s Day my aunt had a gathering at her house in the East. Before we left my fiancé goes should I bring the gun? My response… yes😂. We ended up going to a restaurant with very limited seating. There were bars on the doors and you had to be buzzed in and out. One of the cooks were in pajamas and it took over an hour to receive our food. They did give me free crawfish though because it was Mother’s Day so I ain’t even mad at it😂 I worked in the Quarter during 2020 for a few months until the crime and violence started to get really bad. I hate that it’s gotten so bad because there is so much history and culture to be appreciated there. I wish these young women and men could see there is so much more to life than what they know in Nola. It doesn’t have to be a war zone. The world has so much more to offer. I was fortunate enough to have parents who wanted us to have a better life and opportunity than they had so I didn’t grow up in Nola. I don’t know if it will ever get back to what it was before the pandemic but I feel for the people who live there. That hood/ survivalist mentality leads them to be a prisoner in their own mind😢
The East was so fun before Katrina, we really never left the East unless going to Canal St or Bourbon because everything you needed was right in the East…whatever you were looking for

I appreciate this channel and opportunity to look into a different culture than I’m used to. These guys are all valuable and capable in some way or another they just don’t believe it. I pray God will show them how much better life could be if they’d stop believing what society tells them. Good work man! You have a great responsibility and opportunity to impact the lives of these people. God bless you in your work to bring these neighborhoods to light.

I got lost down in the grove off eagle street when I was 19 years old, stopped and asked for help. Nothing but kindness and respect from those guys.

The hurricane fucked it up then they went to Miami
as opposed to figuratively abandoning it??
I thought it was on a Island or some it's just in plain view
@Pat yep, you could just drive straight to it, but they had 50 people there all the time, then he moved to the westbank to Englishturn then to Miami
@Pat It's not an island like you thinking. it's surrounded by marsh, but you can't tell unless you know.
1Luv.
