Fumbled the ball in almost every game he played, in big moments threw into double coverage when he had guys wide open multiple times that cost us games, has multiple games where he struggled to complete even 1 pass , couldn’t put up points against a depressed Chargers team. 4th round picks are not first round picks for a fucking reason. It’ll be the same shit next year, then you’ll come up here and forget why we were bad. If we didnt need a QB we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

It is so good to finally see a steal, rather than a reach, by the Raiders! I too was disappointed to see Penix go to the Falcons, but I am not convinced that O'Connell and Minshew are liabilities, either! The Raiders receiving corp just improved exponentially, and that's saying a lot given it was already a kick ass corp to begin with!

@@inagetawodi4531 They are two different kinds of TE. Mayers is heavier and is better suited inline, while being able to slip outside. Bowers is light for a TE but literally AVERAGED 12+ yards a carry on jet and screens. What ANYONE needs is the workhorse weapon from a two time national champion. Day 2 and the Raiders handled the OL. But Day 1 you're a mess. DCs in the AFC West are cryin baby. You can go cry too. Just do the rest of us a fav and read, watch, learn, or shut up FFS. Men working.

Love this pick, you’re spot on. He’s a workhorse and will be great asset helping them march down the field whether it’s blocking or receiving. Raiders are setting themselves up to be that rough and tough physical team. That doesn’t always mean you have the flashiest of players but you get the ones that work best together for their scheme.
Mismatch nightmare. And offensive coordinator can do a lot with this guy.

I watched several hours of Georgia tape today. I saw him use his hands to catch the ball on nearly every single catch. Only 3 times did I see him use his body to assist in a catch. Not once did I see him catching a pass using his body.
Amen Carl! Brock Bowers style of play will win over the Raider fans that didn't properly do their HW in player evaluations. I for one wanted Fuaga, but when I heard Bowers name called, all I could say is wow did our offense just add some octane! Loved the pick immediately.
That being said, it is fair to say that Telesco has painted himself into a situation where he has to find some beefy oline pricks to be early starters and a couple of playmakers on D to consider this a good draft. Go get em Telesco! Go Raiders!

Been a surprising draft. He was projected to go to chokers but they felt they need to protect Herbert after seeing how improved our d line will be. Then falcons trading for Pennix everything fell into place 😊

I think people really overlook how big of a need brock was for our team. Last year, we didn’t have a yac/playmaker guy to convert third downs and make a guy or two miss with the ball in their hands, so we didn’t convert a lot in the redzone or on late downs. We tried to make adams that guy, but that is just not who he is. Awesome pick for vegas!

Nobody has been able to successfully run the NE offense that featured tights ends Gronk & Hernandez. For 3yrs, that offense was almost impossible to slow down. I would like to see our OC use those schemes with our TE, Mayer, Bowers, and Bryant. GO RAIDERNATION!

I thought Terrion Arnold would have been the pick since ATL screwed everything up! They have NO pass rush, but they draft a QB they don't need. I digress. Bowers makes this offense even more dangerous. 12 personal or even an ole school power I formation with him at FB. You can go four wide with him as well. Line him up in the slot with Mayer at the TE position and have them both on the field. He can block well, though he can get better at it. The kid is fast, runs angry, and runs with power. I'm still hoping we draft Jordan Travis, QB out of Florida State. If we land him, we're set

I love the pick but we cannot be a 12 personnel all the time teams will know how to cover that, at some point, we’re gonna have be more creative after a few games into the season, if we can balance it with the 11 personnel the power option will work good!

Oh can't name one because it has not happened. TE's along with WR's take 2-3 years to develop no matter how talented they are. So you're saying this project was a better choice than the OT's available, or the D-line available, or the CB's available. All of which are positions that rookies make an impact right away in. So why did we waste pick 13 on a player who would have been available past pick 20 and even maybe day 2? Now he is going to get paid top dollar from day 1 for a position he might get half the snaps at for a couple years minimum. That makes no sense to me no matter how you try to sugar coat it. Just FYI none of the great TE's started out the best. It took years to hone their skills and earn the title of best TE. None were great out the door day 1. Even worst almost every TE taken in the 1st never pans out and busts. With all that against us and then add the fact we have no real QB to throw him the ball what makes this a good pick?
The way I see it is we have not made a wise pick in 25 years why start now. Seems whoever we hire they lack the ability to evaluate talent or fail to be able to make deals and know when to trade up or down. Just saying this guy could have been picked later and traded back for getting us more picks. Or we could have picked and actual player we needed that would impact us immediately. But nope, we drafted a TE! Who unless he becomes the best will never do us any good. If he ends up being awesome he will cost too much to keep past who rookie contract, or become untradeable because his cost. Either way he will be costly since we took him too early in the draft past his rookie deal. If it comes down to a franchise QB or a TE the QB should always be the choice. QB's make TE's, TE's do not make QB's. TE is not that important to a team and do not make or break one. However a QB is the team, its identity, its soul, its leader.
Just saying this was a bad pick and I expected this considering Telesco is a failure who was fired mid season for sucking shit. Just another bad decision made by our owner. As a person who has run companies I would never hire a person who had previously failed at the job I need them to do. They wouldn't have even been considered. Same goes for the shitty ass OC we hired. Dude is a failure, he failed to do the job we hired him to do, but he is a good hire? If this is how people would manage a business then that business is doomed to fail.
I feel like we have decided to tank and everyone knows this. Hence the lack of urgency in signing or drafting a franchise QB. This way we can insure a top 3 pick next year.
Or AP is being set up to fail for some reason.
Just saying we are about to compete against Herbert/Harbaugh, Nix/Peyton, and Mahommes/Reed with Uncle Rico and a rookie HC. A rookie HC who has a lot to prove and needs to win to keep his job. Better hope our okay defense is able to score 10 points a game to keep us competitive.

Reality is this pick could have been made past pick 20 not at 13. If this was the best player available at 13 then none of you know talent. There were O-line and D-line players we need, as well as generational talented LB's and DB's still available. All of which would make an immediate impact.
No rookie TE has ever made an impact until after 3 years of development. The best to ever play took 2 or more years to develop.
What I see is either AP and Davis have agreed to tank, or AP doesn't realize he was set up to fail.
Reality is rather than steal an up and coming OC or GM, we hired other teams failures and trash they fired. Tell me how is that a good thing? You all try to spin it like you did McDaniels, but I was right about him day 1.
So this season we have a rookie HC, a failed and fired GM, a failed and fired OC, 2 backup QBs, no talent at the RB position(Zeus sucks), a shitty O-line, no real depth at any position with talent especially on defense. That is what we are looking at.
So with all the holes we have we draft a TE instead of one of our needs. Typical of the Raiders for the last 25 years. Not one of our first round picks has been a success and have all been failures. I guess expecting better was my mistake. But I said hiring Telesco was a huge mistake as well as Getsy the OC. This just shows why both were fired not just let go by their former employers. Why hiring a proven failure makes sense to anyone is beyond me. I thought you all would have learned that after McDaniels and that shit show, but I guess hope keeps you all delusional.
4-13 will be our record this year getting us a top 3 pick in a QB less draft class next year. And unless their is an agreement on tanking between AP and Mark then AP will be gone as well. The real problem is Mark Davis and his inability to let go of the team. Remain owner but relinquish command to someone who can run things with a brain. Until that happens I am afraid we as fans will continue to be disappointed.
