Kara, I love how you are so happy to sit on the floor and get to know the people. Your love for people is obvious. I just love your videos. Great teamwork! :)
You guys have such a positive attitude towards travelling, respecting and learning about the authentic cultures of a place, its so refreshing to watch. Hope you'll get more subs. Happy belated birthday! Lotsa love from Malaysia.
My only out of country experience was a cruise at 24. In Belize, I met a cab driver and we rode around all day shopping, drinking beer, smoking cigars, i met his family at his home, held his child and had an open invitation to return! I cherish this day full of memories! He showed me parts of the country I never would have seen!!
We are post covid lockdown now. I found Kara and Nate during that time, but ended up taking my children on our own "social distancing" adventure and didn't have much time to catch up. Now that I have a few weeks of "down time" before our next adventure, I am 100% neglecting my chores to binge watch old videos!! 🤣 I call it "R n' D" for my next adventure with my girls! Love these videos! Thanks Kara and Nate! Oh and BTW ... My eldest daughter's name is Kara and she is amazing too! Just sayn'. 😊🤗💖
That’s my home country, Laos. I went to visit it last year. It has been over 40 years since I went back. I have enjoyed watching all your videos. I see you guys are from Hendersonville,TN, me too. Love you guys.
Overnight sleeper buses are great... you get a ride and save a night's hotel cost! I also love love loved the sleeper train from Bangkok to Penang... bottom bunk is a must because you get your own window and more space. Very comfy.
That was so respectful of you to sit quietly and respectfully across the street. When I visited Luang Prabang I figured that I would find the tourists at the procession to be embarrasing so I used that excuse to justify my usual morning lethargy. On a sad note, one of the restaurant proprietors in Luang Prabang, an exceptionally industrious and hospitable young man, posted on Facebook yesterday that due to the coronavirus epidemic he was forced to close his restaurants and lay off his 42 employees. I could tell that his inability to keep things afloat for them was more painful for him than the hardship he will face himself
You guys would always come up on my recommendation list, never really was interested in watching, and oh boy, i was so wrong!! Started watching your vlogs literally two days ago, and im fascinated! You guys are the most sweetest, genuine, adorable couple ever!! Your vlogs are amazing! I really enjoy watching them, I've seen so many beautiful places so far, that i might be able to visit anytime in my life, also i learned so much about Asia, asian culture, vlogs are pure perfection! Im just extremely sad that i missed the chance to get some of those postcards, yuppp, being late to the party for almost 4 years does that😂 I'm really looking forward to continue watching your vlogs! I just had to say a few words, you wont even see this comment, but i had to try😂 Love you guys! You gained a true fan and a sub!! GREETINGS AND LOTS OF LOVE FROM SERBIA🇷🇸 PS. Sorry for my bad english, not my mother tongue😅
It’s crazy that I’m watching this a couple of days before Nate’s birthday in 2022! Started watching you guys last year and I decided to start from the beginning last week! I’m currently stationed at Fort Campbell, KY about an hour and a half from Nashville, TN. Love you guys so much! 🤍
I love the respect that you showed the monks and the authentic alm ceremony. I would feel disrespected if people were walking up to the alter during Mass to take pictures....
I don’t know if you read this or if you already now it, but I saw your earlier video with the pretzel cafe, and pretzels are not Scandinavian, they are from Germany - but the pretzel is typically on a bakers sign (in Denmark at least), like a scissor is on a hairdresser sign, it’s just an easy way to show that it is a bakery 😊 🥨
I just wnated to let you know that a few weeks ago I started to watch your videos from the beginning and I just have to say that I want to be like you. I'm currently 16 years old but I hope that in 10 years I will achieve at least a small part of what you did these past years.
I was in Laos in 1996 and it wasn't possible to take a bus all the way from Vientiane to Luang Prabang so I took the local buses as far as I could and then rode in the back of a truck the rest of the way. I fell asleep on top of the bags of rice and slept like a baby. At the time there were no tourists in Luang Prabang, just a few hardened travelers, and the alms-giving to the monks was totally authentic. One of the other travelers was a guy that I'd traveled with in Venezuela and Colombia two years before and we just bumped into each other again halfway around the world. Stuff like that happened all the time when I was traveling.
I love sleeper bus! They are so common in Vietnam now so if you guys ever planned to travel city to city in vietnam, that is pretty much the main way to go!
Happy Birthday Nate :) I bumped in to your vlogs yesterday for the first time while I was searching for videos about singapore. I am glad I did.I have been watching all your vlogs since yesterday. You are such a cute couple. Do you have plans to visit India? ( I am from India, so just curious) Have a great time you guys.
+keerthi sripada Thank you! I'm glad you like them :) We planned to go in May, but our friend there told us it's too hot at that time, so we are rescheduling for later in the year :)
happy birthday nate 😊😊😊 may you're bless with good health, great success and happiness with kara, family, friends and love ones 😊😊😊 happy birthday!!!! cheers 😊😊😊
Awesome job! Just stumbled across your channel a few days ago. Looking forward to more posts. My first vlog watched was your time spent at the exec lounge at Hong Kong. To be honest I absolutely judged you both and thought forget this. Until I found out Nate's great points/mileage plan. It's brilliant! Have since watched almost all of your posts. You both seem like real, genuine kind people. Love seeing what new and interesting things you guys are eating. Please keep it up!
awesome video as usual, I'm hooked. totally reminds me of my laos trip in 2012. I did the sleeper bus both ways to luang prabang. while exploring on a scooter I found an illegal gambling den in the outskirts :)
enjoying the vids!...but no vlog in Indonesia...highly suggest both of you to visit Bali, you can enjoy Bali on a budget or spend big :) either way its a must while you're in asia. keep the vids coming
+Prakoso Wicaksono Thanks for watching Prakoso! We wanted to go recently but saw the weather wasn't the greatest at this time, but we will definitely be back!!!
+Kara and Nate which reminds me, on the ride back out during the meal stop right after the mountainous section, the driver had to hose down the brakes and it was sizzling
Hi Nate and Kara. What did you think to LP? We are going next year but I don't know if I'm right or wrong but you don't seem to be feeling it the same as other places you've been to
It's like sending your child to Bible study camp in the States, to some degree. Also, if someone in the family dies, male relatives will become monks for a few months to honor the dead.
I’be been watching your amazing videos for weeks now. The growth of your travel experience and the increased ease of handling the challenges on your way is inspiring. Your cheerfully relaxed nature is magnetic. It is a pleasure watching you both discover the World and grow as individuals. Nevertheless, often I get slightly annoyed that you Kara chew gum while talking and it lingers in the corners of your mouth when you smile. Instead of focusing on the story, I look at that piece of gum hiding behind your beautiful white teeth. Your videos appeal to a much wider audience than merely the US viewers. It is considered rather impolite to talk to people while chewing gum in many cultures around the world. Also, when yawning, at least in Europe, people cover their mouth. I want you to know that this criticism comes from a good place. Keep up the amazing story.
Monks are not allowed to eat anything unless it’s given to them. For that reason, Monks are not selective as to who gives them food. They collect and that’s their food for the entire day. It isn’t shared, nor is it separated. All foods in the alms bowl gets mixed together. The mixed foods, fruits, etc is part of the Monks training of separation from desire and coveting items of the world. The donators of food believe they earn better standing in the afterlife. The monks are grateful for any food given by anyone or they would not have enough food for that day. So, the monks are actually begging. “Alms for the poor” The Bible - God says if you don’t work, you don’t eat. Monks do not work.
Loved the shot of the monks walking one by one past the alley
Kara, I love how you are so happy to sit on the floor and get to know the people. Your love for people is obvious. I just love your videos. Great teamwork! :)
You're so sweet! Thank you :)
In thailand when the insult speech toward the bouddha. Certainly you must have some serious consequence . May be to be killed by the local People.
Same!
These videos are just fantastic and quite addictive. I don't understand why anyone would give them a thumbs down. Great work guys.
You guys have such a positive attitude towards travelling, respecting and learning about the authentic cultures of a place, its so refreshing to watch. Hope you'll get more subs. Happy belated birthday! Lotsa love from Malaysia.
+Nabil Ibrahim thanks so much! :)

Dang I almost thought Nate had the same birthday as me. Moving along the Vlogs. Only 5 years behind.
Awwww. I watched the episode of Nate needing to eat the apple fritter at voodoo doughnuts and now I know why
R those Jesus sandals comfortable ? Where did u get them?
Is the rice that is given to the monks dry/raw or cooked already?
Cooked. The offerings of rice, food, fruit etc. are meant to be eaten that day.
Kara brought coffee to Nate!! 😱😱
The monks seem very young, maybe early teens? Happy Birthday Nate!
+peepercoco Yes many were young! Thank you :)
H B-day Nate!
cheers...
The Scandinavian sign was not a pretzel but a "kringle" å type of apple filled coffee cake. Pretzels are German. 🤭
I am not sure if we have first-class bus in Laos.
Anyone know what street or wat he ended up at?
Nate is bit taken aback after the massage... is he feeling guilty wink wink
seems you two now have a new ritual, massage on the birthday haha Asia has the best massage

Happy Birthday Nate :) You have a facebook page?
+Jassy And Ken Thank you! We don't have a Kara and Nate page yet, just personal ones
How do they get all those boys to be monks?
It's like sending your child to Bible study camp in the States, to some degree. Also, if someone in the family dies, male relatives will become monks for a few months to honor the dead.

The Bible - God says if you don’t work, you don’t eat.
Monks do not work.
That was so funny Kara, you robbed his wallet to buy for his birthday.
what the hell is eye browns😂
Young men and boys become monks during funeral processes. Just FYI
someone got a happy ending
+sik pig He was very glad he got up :) and i was very glad he didn't make me go with him... hahaha
Doesn't sound like a denial. Binge watching this since last Sunday when I found this channel.
nate you are not fifty year s no no
In thailand when you are not respectful manner toward the monks. It will be a serious consequence. May be killed by the people.
YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO THESE KIND Of videos AND PLACES YOU DO ONLY EXPENSIVE THINGS REGULAR PEOPLE CAN NOT AFFORD,,,,,,
Happy Birthday Nate!
+Heather Gates Thank you :)
