It's incredible, who would have thought years ago, when the media said she'd be a 'flash in the pan', 35 years later, Padam Padam Top.10 and Tension Top.20 U.K hits, a great time to be a HUGE Kylie fan(s) Whooop! :)
WOW, I LOVE Kylie's remake of this song, she did this song SO AWESOMELY and she is AWESOME and also, Kylie is one of the MOST GORGEOUS women and VERY talented.
Exactly right, and I think that every time I watch this. So much for the critics who said this was manufactured pop. So what if it is, it's still a great song. As Kylie said, if an artist is signed to a record label, then to some extent they're manufactured because they're a product and they're also selling a product, but it doesn't mean that you're not talented.
I know I drove my parents crazy lol. When my mom found out I like Kylie Minogue she was quite mortified lol. But then again I listen to let's just say less than parental approved music lol. I'm 53 & still loving this wonderful gem of a singer. A true legend & icon. A truly lovely & genuinely caring person. Full of life and exuberance. Long live the amazing Kylie Minogue, all hail Queen Kylie!
I was 28 when this came out and I remember looking forward to it as I loved the original by Little Eva and The Grand Funk version. Loved them all. But which one is this? The Australian version or the English production, there are 2 different ones
@@rossmatheson4303 the footage in the clips is identical but the musical backing track & arrangement is different in each. this is the Stock, Aitken and Waterman version.

I can't believe this was 36 years ago.!!!, wow, where did the time go?, I remember those days, Kylie in Neighbours and pumping out hit after hit, and still doing so now, a total pop icon she is and a totally down to earth person, never changed.!!!
What a journey! Remembering your shyness on this video and watching your trajectory till now on Vegas Residency just makes me proud to be a #Lover! Thanks for EVERYTHING and Congratulations, Kylie!
I couldn't let this year pass without acknowledging my 35th Kylie-versary! 35 years ago I was walking down the halls of Stevenson Elementary School in Decatur, IL and heard this coming from the gym where the cheerleaders were practicing. Well, that was it for me, I fell in love! There are very few people in this world who have brought the immense joy to my life that Kylie Minogue has. Through some good times and bad, there has always been Kylie. I could always put on a Kylie song and believe for a few minutes that everything was ok. Thank you, Kylie. If you only knew how you've helped me through so much
OMG. This one was amazing reminiscences . I remember this coming out and fancying the hell out of Kylie but as a teenage boy at the time not being able to admit this! If only it was possible to easily point people at this video at the time! :)
36 years already?? OMG. Lets see i would have been 22, 23 years old when this first came out. I LOVED this song by Kylie when it first came out. I STILL LOVE this song!!
The 80's were the best, when men were men and women were women, no politics or much hate, just partying, meeting new ppl everywhere and having fun in the sun.
Kylie and I are the same age so clear memories when she burst onto the scene, and she did indeed, make big waves. There was some criticism of her and her voice which many people now probably aren't aware of but she stuck to her guns and kept putting out hit after hit. Got to see her live in London (where she was bigger than Australia at that time), and ran into Molly Meldrum in the audience haha. Good old Molly. Well done Kylie on a stellar career. Who would have thought? The new work is as good as anything over the past 36 years (and it's hard for me to acknowledge that it's really been that long). Life sure does goes fast. Enjoy while you can. Peace. 🙏💚
I'd be interested to know if all the critics can sing and if they’ve had a successful recording career spanning nearly 40 years? Oh my...it can't really be that long...can it?! 😮 Apologies to my mum and brother for constantly playing this and "I Should Be So Lucky" when they were released! Oh well, is everyone ready? Let's do this... *All aboard* !
After working in the music industry for more than 30 years, I have found you can't stop working in the industry. I remember when this sound hit the radios in the USA. I saw the video, but I didn't have the maturity to see all the mechanics in the video. Now I watch the body language, and I am reminded of how pretty the big hair was! So Kylie, how much fun was it to have a new mentor telling you how to dress, how to move, and how to act? This video shows you were having an adventure, and you were having to focus on the song with all the surrounding chaos. It is always good to reflect on the good days as we can now see things we missed back then. For example, your mentor didn't push you as a sex object, at first. Many of the stars I worked with hated that direction, as it killed their ability to go shopping without a bodyguard. It is funny how the fame creates stalkers who would have never given you the time of day! Even though I work in the administration of the industry, I have to use a bodyguard.
I forgot about Tania Lacy being in the film clip. I loved watching her and all the trouble she got up to as a reporter on the TV show The Factory. Awesome 👏
I bet this video was a blast to make. So much laughing and joking around by the star rubs off on the cast and crew. It was so classy that she shows all the behind the scene people at the end.
My fav version of hers doing this 80's classic is the jazzy version from her "Live in New York". She took this song to a completely different level back in the 00´s.
Fun fact, 35 years ago (as of 2023), this song would be the highest successful song to reach the US Hot 100 peaking at #3. Her cover of the Little Eva’s 1962 hit along with ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ would help her become a worldwide pop icon. ❤

I know her from the early 2000s with her trance hits. It wasn’t until this year I realized she was famous in the 1980s.

I know this is the version that hit the big time, but the original Aussie version from 1987 holds a special place in my heart.
Totally agree. A bit rockier and less produced and showed how deep her natural voice can be.
I'm confused. The other YT link with this video / version says that this version is the 1987 original. Which is which?

@@tashneame6023ah, thanks. I'll check the other track out and look for the differences.
The original was from 1962 by Little Eva; for me its the 1974 Grand Funk Railroad version that is closest to my heart.
