Do you guys like Jack White?
Not anymore? Lol. I was never big into his music, but I did respect him and his talent. Idk now though.
He does his own thing, is a talented musician, and I respect him for that. His music isn't something I could listen to on a daily basis though. Kind of have to be in the mood.
@@cris_261 Pretty much how I feel. It’s not bad, but not all for me.
Jack is an eccentric, reserved guy off stage, but he's been kind to me. People told me he was intimidating and mean, but I didn't get that at all.
LOVE HIM.
I met Jack last week, he played a small gig in New Zealand and I ended up waiting about an hour and a half after the show by the exit door. There was a group of about 30 of us waiting, they parked his van up right to the doors so he could quickly leave the door and get straight into the van. When he came out, he instead came out to us, shook all of our hands, thanked us for waiting in the cold, and asked if he sounded okay on stage. For someone that could be a complete asshole because of his large amounts of success, he was so humble and it was a pleasure to meet him.
Did he pop it in your freckle?
I've never met him but I live in Nashville and have been to 3rd Man Records. I like him and what he stands for.
You took the meg white portion waaay out of context. I’d guess that you did the same with the rest of this “story”.
So this dude, he's such a great guy! Check it out. This guy was holding a party that was like 50 dollars to get in on top of anything you might buy there, though you could pay more to get closer to him so you could really see him. The idea is he'd be the center of attention while entertaining us. So like we were all really wanting to tell him how much we loved him after the party was over and guess what! He didn't spit on us or tell us to get lost! If only everybody was like him right.
😂
He appreciates his fans. He just doesn't play well with his colleagues. Which i can respect... But being a music snob myself, i don't appreciate the competition lol.
Jack White was great in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Johnny Depp played Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Jack White was Jasper in Twilight...
So funny I wonder if Johnny was going for a little JW with that character. He pulled from Keith for Jack sparrow
@@michaelbanks2401 it was a joke
He was in Cold Mountain with Nicole Kidman and Renee zellweger
@@michaelbanks2401 Jack White was also great as Edward Scissorhands. He was born for the role.
So basically Jack White stands his ground, protects his art and throws hands when neccessary? I like him even more
@@joesmif3728sit down, you ain't going to do a damn thing you little beta
Throw hands?
He pulled hair and cussed.
Hes nothing to worry about in a confrontation even for many women.
Not really, every relationship (music or personal) he has had has been a train wreck. At some point he has to look in the mirror and see he is problem.
The pictures seemed to tell a different story.
He spews complete ruling class social engineering propaganda even though I like his music
Jack White and Johnny Depp should play each other in a crossover biopic.
But theyre played by black actors 🤔
Johnny Depp is looking for a new gig/front man..
Ive never seen them both in the same room. Just saying...
Captain, Jack White
LOL! and Jack talks about The Black Keys stealing his sound.
I met Jack White once in a bar. He was so cordial and gave me a lot of time as we chatted about the compilation 'Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit' that he put out. He was really great considering I was a complete stranger.
If a flattering, knowledgeable person strikes up a conversation when you're just killing time, it's a good thing, and you converse like gentlepersons. If some rude stiff comes up and acts like he deserves a prize for recognizing you, you blow 'em off. People that aren't jerks are just folks, most of the time, as long as they're not already doing something that cannot, by definition, include you.
👁️👁️😐u so lucky 🤣 😆👏💯
I also met him at a Beck and the Flaming lips show at Detroit Opera house standing at the bar, he was a nice guy.
Yeah but the conversation was about HIM and how good HE was it sounds like. I’m just saying what it sounds like…I wasn’t there obviously
Would love to see a Jack White/Billy Corgan vs Marilyn Manson/Robert Smith tag team Celebrity Deathmatch on MTV.
Billy owns a wrestling promotion and could easily set up a hell in the cell.
I miss celebrity deathmatch...
Lez get it awn!
Why Robert Smith?
Replace Robert Smith with Morrissey
I just can't picture Jack White getting into a physical altercation with anyone. He looks to be about as threatening as a glass of Ovaltine.
Well he is 6'2 and not skinny
6'2 not skinny and from a poor neighborhood in detroit. Probably not as soft as you think.
Yes, underestimate people. That's a great idea. You have no idea what people are capable of.
Comment is dumber than your screen name. Try harder
I love Ovaltine, its tasty.
I haven't been in a physical fight in over 20 years, then again nobody's spat on me in all of that time. If you spit on someone you shouldn't be surprised when that person physically attacks you.
YEÀH! THAT'S LIKE THE TOTAL DISRESPECT 😯🤕
That would start it off with me.... !
If you’ve been spit on, you’ve been physically assaulted.
I once got in a fight with a kid on my high school swim team because he crawled up over the stall next to me and tried to spit Copenhagen snuff spit between my legs while I was dropping a deuce.
I finished doing what I was doing, and went and beat the crap out of that kid wearing only my Arena (think Speedo) swim trunks in an academic building that happened to have a pool in front of dozens of college students.
My coach was supremely pissed at me because we were guests in that building, and I said to him “Would you let another person spit on you while you were taking a shit?”
In all reality I should have been at least suspended from school, but nothing ever happened.
@@jackhaugh That's taking it to an extreme level as far as the other guy is concerned. No repercussion on your end as it should have been.
It's a potentially deadly act since the AIDS virus found us. But for me, the dis is all I need for motivation. If I think about it as a weapon, it makes me not want to think about it, you know?
I can tell that we aren't gonna be friends
Joking aside, the press blows things out of proportion
Or, they purposely leave big gaping holes in them. A lot of what the media says is either really confusing, or so made up.
I met JW a couple of times and he's an odd duck but he was always brutally honest.
I can't help but ask why you say brutally honest? (Im also just curious about the altercation in general)
He's a punk that never got a reciept
@@the-engneer Are you familiar with Asperger's? Jack is probably on the spectrum and lacks various social graces.
@@felixd.4150 That makes perfect sense actually
@@the-engneer On the other hand he's also very savvy and quick witted so who knows. I'm not a shrink. He's probably just pompous but I dunno man, write a riff that the entire world knows then check-in on how your ego has handled it and lemme know.
Rock was never meant to be complicated, this guy is a genius. Pleople saying his music is simple like is a bad thing, bro, he never tried to make complex music in the first place. His formula is so good that everyone can enyoy it. Even my little brother like this band. You can tell something is good when that happens.
so does Justin Bieber
He is not capable of composing complex or intellectual music
I hate it when artists think something is genius because its simple. Very rare something simple is genius. It just appears this way because most fans are idiots that like to believe they are smart and or significant. Sssstupid!
Sure he is. No one likes Dream Theater.
@BC08 Rock and Roll was never supposed to be complex, at it's core it's a folk art
I definitely like his music. He has always struck me as a normal guy with a talent so he might be kind of cranky sometimes, but a good guy you could just hang with without being focused on how he makes his living.
Noel Gallagher called Jack White "Zorro on doughnuts" which might be the funniest thing ever said.
He's said a lot of funny things, but that's pretty good haha!
lol that's gold! also gold: freddy mercury calling sid vicious "simon ferocious"
An admittedly awesome slight, laughed for a long time when I first read that one...
@@horseheadkid "what are you going to do about it"?
Not really...ever watch Richard Pryor, George Carlin or Robin Williams do stand-up? Waaay funnier.
You could have seen Meg just about any night at various dive bars in Nashville in 2009. I know I did. Saw her playing pool and drinking at the Spring Water Supper Club all the time. I wouldn’t call that reclusive, just not doing interviews. She was in public all the time. She wouldn’t get mobbed, she was polite and funny. People gave her space but she was interactive. Those were good days.
Reclusive for a 'celebrity'
I use quotes because I doubt she would think of herself as such, since she's pretty much ignored the media since the White Stripes ended
Funniest joke I ever heard about it was someone described him as "real life Tim Burton character, Jack white"
He makes badass music. He definitely has an intelligent mind. His actions, & his music are a product of his mindset. He feels the way he feels & when he acts out, people may not understand it. He is far beyond the average Joe mindset. I say rock on.
Good to see Johnny depp looking so healthy after the trial
Great comment, haha
😂😂😂
Lmfao. Still laffing 10 mins later!
I always thought the same thing he look fairly similar to Johnny depp
Jack White is one of those once in a lifetime musicians, writers, producers, artists really. I think that he is able to slip between genres at ease. I'm 57 and a huge fan. He is genius, I believe.
Concordo, é un genio 🤍🖤❤️
I must agree
You're almost as old as I am but JW is no where close to once in a lifetime. Maybe for X ers
Most definitely ❤
@annaknight5111 I am not in agreement with you guys. As I see him as an overrated punk. Waste of good but not great talent. JW is not Keith Richard's 69 to 74 and certainly not ,Jeff Beck in any era. Thanks!
I like his music. He's extremely talented. I don't HAVE to "like" him as a human being. Fuck, I don't even KNOW him. Why do people always confuse the artist with the art?
Yah I don't like him either.
That's a very good point, I don't like getting punched ...but I love Rocky😂

I wish I caught this remark 1 year ago when you posted it. "Why do people always confuse the artist with the art?", may have made my top 10 favourite quotes. Love it!
In the same realm, it would really suck to miss an epic live show because you disagree with an artists' politics.
In regards to music - Jack White is completely brilliant.
I've not met Jack White, but I spent an hour with his bassist, in a nursery where we were both sort of hiding out at a wedding. He was a very kind and humble dude. I imagine Jack is just the same. I have no issue with an artist speaking up in defense of his work.
Love almost every note I've ever heard come from this enigmatic individual. He doesn't seem friendly like some other musicians but what he lacks in social skills I think he makes up for it in musical talent.
I agree, I don’t need to hang out with him. And tbh, even at his worst, he seems like he’s better than a lot of people.
He is politically brain dead. So he should shut up about them and just play his guitar.
I'm sure he's fine. He just doesn't do silly, superficial niceties that's all.
I met this dude in a flea market here in Georgia in 2009. He was all right. Not the nicest but not the worst. The drummer from the Cramps was the worst.

Noel Gallagher once said that Jack White "looks like Zorro on doughnuts". It's kind of true..
Is there a rock celebrity Noel Gallagher did comment?
Noel Gallagher is a pretentious ass hat clown.
He’s always putting other artists down.

Jack White seems to have some integrity. Thumbs up, but I wish I thought Jack White was as cool as Jack White thinks he is.

He played on my boyfriends softball team in Detroit when he was still playing local spots coming up. He was young and according to some of the guys, ‘a tool.’ But I’ve always like him. He’s brilliant and now a dad-which usually helps you grow up.

Jack White also had a punch up with another musician while they were both on the bill for the Big Day Out Festivals in Australia. Can't remember which year it was or who the other musician was but it was apparently over the other musician hitting on Meg White, she didn't like it and Jack White beat the shit out of him.
Jack being protective of Meg that way is endearing but it is crossing the line tbh.

Jack White lives music. His passion is inspiring. I respect and love the guy for that.
He's so talented but he also seems to completely lack any understanding of how people consume music, and he's a huge dick.
“He landed on my hand” has got to be the best excuse for punching someone in the face I’ve ever heard lol I love ya JW but ffs
and pulled his hair. Clearly Jack is the victim here and not the aggressor. Buahhahhah
Nothing says badass more than the sad cat lady hairstyle
@James Armitage close second XD
I want his hair to remain big, long, & messy, but he keeps cutting it so short, straightening it, & platting it down...& then that popsicle blue color....c'mon Jack. Keep it black & crazy, because, it works, ya lucky, hot bastard!
Sounds like Meg was more down to earth and tried to keep Jack from getting too cocky.
Yeah! From what I've heard she seems like a humble person which strong juxtaposes White. This may have ended the band
Met him at a restaurant in Nashville, literally one of the most humble and genuine people I’ve ever met! Never forgetting that as long as I live!
Now I am fantasizing about Jack and Dan Auerbach becoming best friends and creating great music together in Nashville. Them calling a truce and becoming friends is huge.
They could be The White Keys, or...
The Black Stripes.
This comment made my life and I hope to see it one day.
What’s really crazy is how the vonbondies were on their way but after that fight they started going back into the background
Wait...so Jack White was annoyed some other band came into his world? He mimicked a lot of old blues artists. Same way The Beatles mimicked Elvis. Not putting the guy down, but it's similar to someone claiming someone else is using oils and pastels.
Meg was at the Raconteurs tour opener in Detroit in 2019, i saw her in the balcony and Jack also announced it. I think they’ve mended fences.
Well her wedding to patti smiths son waz in jacks back yard in 09.
So yes i think so
Seem like this is more about people Jack had an issue with... more than people who couldn't stand him lol
Or people Jack took no shite from. Lol
hahahaa, that is exactly what I thought. Every band or musician mentioned in this piece was thrown under the bus by White first... oh, except maybe the Vondys (Von Blondies? I can't remember their name already).
Jack White is a genius. Jealousy is an ugly look.
You missed a bit of the story.. he tried to fight Pat Carney in a bar mostly cause he felt their success was due to The White Stripes. I’ve never even made the connection aside from they’re both 2 pieces lol
right! The Black Keys sound nothing like the White Stripes. BKs are straight blues, WSs are more pop rock than anything imo
Not the same since the Black Keys tour with a band
The White Stripes and the Von Bondies and Jay Reatard all got started at the tail end of the 90s garage punk scene, but most of those bands were breaking up and when the White Stripes got big, they had a whole new audience and by default became the beginning of a big new thing. The Black Keys probably wouldn't have gotten as big a push if the White Stripes hadn't had hits but neither band sounds alike or much like anyone else. None of the things they have in common are things that the Flat Duo Jets, Oblivians or Jon Spencer Blues Explosion hadn't done before them. I suspect the real story is a combination of something personal and Jack White not liking interviews.
"He landed on my hand." That's a real mans humble brag right there!
I still find it funny that Billboard placed Meg White no.2 on its list of the 30 top-performing women on the 30th anniversary of Billboard Alternative Songs chart, with Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries deservingly taking the lead spot. The following are talented singers/musicians/songwriters that Meg White supposedly outperform: 3. Siouxsie Sioux; 5. Alanis Morissette; 6. Kate Pierson & Cindy Wilson of The B-52's; 7. Gwen Stefani of No Doubt; 8. Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs; 11. Courtney Love of Hole; 14. Kate Bush; 16. Sarah McLachlan; 17. Sinéad O’Connor; 18. Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays; 19. Sheryl Crow; 20. Björk; 22. Suzanne Vega; 23. Tori Amos; 24. Tanya Donelly & Gail Greenwood of Belly; 25. Margo Timmins of Cowboy Junkies; 26. Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins; 27. Chrissie Hynde of Pretenders; 29. Meriel Barham, Miki Berenyi & Emma Anderson of Lush; and 30. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth.
That is completely crazy
Odd , a good friend of mine used to play keyboards for the guy and he never said a single bad word about the experience....then again White could have been a total jerk , and my friend wouldn't say a thing about it. (He was genuinely one of the nicest people ever)
Other rock stars to Jack White: I can tell that we are not gonna be fiends

Jack White really isn't in any position to be talking about sound-alike bands or stolen riffs. There's a Raconteurs song that starts with the "Is She Really Going Out With Him," intro. There's another song with a riff from "Daydream Believer."
Indeed! There's little copyrightable about the White Stripes sound. It's all a bit Zeppelin complaining about other bands riding on their already borrowed shirt tails (shirts with every name tag removed).
White Stripes were OK but the Black Keys nailed it and certainly felt more authentic than White, whose music always came across as very calculated rather than heartfelt, which I always get from Dan.

Saw Bill Burr at an arena last weekend. Line to get in was backed up for phone pouches. The people with the magnets to "unlock" the pouches got utterly mobbed on the way out.
It's kinda sad they have to do this in the first place
@Jer A wow what a mess, couldn't imagine that. I guess it's been awhile since I've been out lol
@@the-engneer it was jacks idea. He wanted people to have a concert experience like we all did in the 70s, 80s and 90s, where everyone's in the moment. But having went s to a show and having my phone locked up. It was ok. I didn't see much of a difference except. Saw him in Maine this year. Funny part was the place was super hard core about no puffing cannabis. Which must have been the bands rule because just a month later I cought Trey from Phish there and you couldn't see threw the cannabis smoke.

Pretentious twits "feuding", until they get the attention they crave. Then, they become pretentious twits who adore each other. How sweet.
I like him because he's a diverse musician. He's very talented. I don't really care if he has feuds with other artists. I just like his music. He didn't ask to be considered a saint.
Interestingly enough, it seems like in most of the instances, after time had passed under the bridge the feuding parties reconciled and praised each other
The only time I spoke to him he was cordial....... I was running a store and he came in looking for what we had a ton of.... he was checking all the stuff out and his wife(disproportionetly hot redhead-as in NO WAY this hot babe is with this VERY PALE dude that needs a haircut) -at the time- came in and they started conversing and left rather abruptly without buying anything..... Oddly enough she said "Coca-Cola called and I told them I didn't know if you wanted to do it " . He answered "yeah, I want to do it !" - so I assumed there was going to be a White Stripes Coke ad (those logos would match perfectly) but I never saw such an ad.
I love stories like this. I’m a notorious eavesdropper. Yea. I did not get those two together. I think his family was to hokey for her.
Jack White did in fact write a song for a Coca-Cola commercial. It was called Love is the Truth and it aired in 2006. The redhead would've been model/musician Karen Elson, to whom Jack White was married from 2005-2013.

Here's an absolutely true tale: I was working at a pizza joint in Minneapolis in 2017 and 18 I can't remember exactly when it happened but one night we got a last minute huge order from Jack whites tour people for a bunch of sandwiches pizza and desserts as he was playing a show in town that night and presumably had to feed the troops...now I don't want to exaggerate it wasn't an immense order but it came to around three hundred and fifty bucks worth of hipster vegan pizza pasta sandwiches etc. We were already quite busy that night but were told to prioritize the order before everything else as they had to have it immediately and we complied. When the flunky turned up to pick up the food we received absolutely no tip. Nothing. Not even a gratuity for the overworked and very beautiful and kind hostess. How about them apples
you can't really know that's on Jack White, maybe he's that cheap or maybe he gave the flunkie tip money and the flunkie just pocketed it there is just no way for you to know.
"Original". Jack White, to quote Inigo Montoya-"I don't think that means what you think it means." Unless original means ripping off Joe Jackson's "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" for the intro of "Steady As She Goes" Jack White is the Tarantino of music. Derivative and bland but somehow critically praised and his own biggest fan.
I love the Black Keys!
The Weight of Love!
I'm a huge fan of Jack White's, from the White Stripes to Van Lear Rose (Lorreta Lynn's big comeback from early 2000s) and The Raconteurs, etc. Anyone that diversly talented is going to have some kind of issues. It's par for the course. Hell, I have major issues, and I'm not that talented or famous!
Meg not singing his praises, no high fives, or kissing his ass was probably the only thing keeping him grounded, and probably why they lasted as long as they did.
ex-wives
I saw Jack at a grocery store in Los Angeles last year. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
i can’t tell if this is joke or not but it seems too oddly specific to not be true
@@cleopatrabeyblade oddly specific is just the ploy a jokester would use, but then again...
Once i saw the title, I had to see this. Other than the Von Bondies, I didn't know anyone hated Jack White.
Don’t be surprised people hate him. Everyone and everything has haters
@@ryplay08 he could also just be a jerk 😂
