  • “Just stay positive”, “It’s probably all for the best”, “everything happens for a reason…” Toxic positivity is a tricky one. It usually comes from the best of intentions, but instead of healthy support and understanding, it makes us feel like all we can do is put on a brave face and pretend everything’s okay even when it’s not. You definitely don’t want it in your company, or your team, because, as the name suggests, it can be toxic. People need to be able to openly talk about what’s bothering them, and in many cases, they’re not even looking for a solution - they just want to vent a little and feel heard. So, the next time an employee, a colleague, or even a friend comes to you to talk about their troubles, don’t go straight for the positive - try to just listen first.
