DIVE STORIES is the new series on @BlueWorld_plus featuring famous scuba divers talking about experiences they had in the world of diving. Some are scary. All are amazing.
I absolutely...ABSOLUTELY love listening to Edd Sorenson tell stories. He is such a great story teller.
That's the thing, these aren't 'stories', these are 'recounts' of what he experienced himself. Stories are for children's books and journalism ;)
@@RwP223 thats a strange point to make but I guess I get what you're saying. I wasn't using the word stories to imply they werent true. There is an art to story telling, recounting events etc. Ed absolutely has that talent.
@@rhegafd His communication skills are above average, far exceeding my abilities as you've pointed out.
Nothing the op said was wrong or needed correcting lol these are non-fiction stories. Still a story.
@@rhegafd literally just heard Ed say "he tells me the story," when referring to what happened... dont sweat it, some people just have to be like that.
Edd is awesome. I heard that sharks even have a week dedicated to him.
The chuck Norris of cave diving.
I love how Edd manages to go into a lot of detail when telling his stories, gruesome as they often are, yet never turns the gore into a mere plot device. That takes a great communicator, which is rare in people as technically skilled as he is.
Now I don't need to leave a comment, took the words outa my mouth.
Yep. I love his stories, he stays as factual as he can rather than just making stuff up to sound better. Chose to stop listening to a lot of channels because they just start making stuff up.
@@ghostface1066 I've then a White water kayaker are all my life I am interested in this but I'm not going to get into it.
Edd is at a level that does not require story telling tools. He is a real life super hero.
Sheriff's Dept "We've got pizza coming"
Story checks out
🤣
If Edd have ever decided to write a book about his cave rescue cases/stories, I’d definitely buy it! He’s such a legend and seems very humble 😉😊☺️. Thanks so much Jonathan for giving us more Edd’s stories 😊
I asked him on a livestream with dive talk about a book. He said he has a ghost writer and it won’t be anytime soon, but eventually he will write a book.
Did anyone notice?
When Edd speaks, he pauses and takes a big breath. Just like he’s always diving
I absolutely love listening to Edd's stories. It feels almost like 80% of them revolve around a central theme of "X is totally impossible, Edd says bet, Edd somehow does X and also does some other thing, Y, at the same time"
V. V
Another Sorenson video already? You guys have made my weekend! Thanks for the wonderful work and consistent uploads, appreciate it.
When we were down there in December, we sat Edd down for a few stories.
@@BlueWorldplus Awesome! He’s a legend.
I could literally listen to Edd tell stories all day long.❤🥰
I actually did! LOL. More to come!
Honored to have Edd Sorenson as my Full Cave Instructor. I went back the following day with 1 of the other 2 team members (both were regular cave diving buddies of mine). We pulled the line out which was left overnight, and turned over the fins & a few remaining pieces of gear to be given to the Family. The area was still very "breaky downy" as he put it, and we cleared the cave of gear & line then got the hell out of there as quickly as possible.
This was a rough recovery; & not everyone is built for it. I thankfully never had to see any of his remains, because the other 2 guys were visibly shaken for weeks after, and it took a while before they could talk about it at all.
Holy crap!! 😳
Thank you for your testimony. Many of us shudder when listening to these extraordinary stories on our sofa, but we are very far from feeling all the emotions, especially the most unpleasant ones, of those who live these stories.
Edd is a beast. Taking on massive responsibilities like this isn't an easy thing to do. He seems like he doesn't even question his destiny. He embraces it. Owns it.
You have to respect a man who hydrates consistently.
some caves: muddy, cold, damp, claustrophobic, little room to navigate, zero visibility, danger of horrible death
some people: sounds like a fun hobby
Edd is a national treasure. Guy is legendary.
Edd is a certified legend.
Im an open water diver, Woody and Gus sent me here. I could listen to Edd's stories all day 😍
More Ed Sorenson, Mike Young and Martyn Farr etc brilliant story tellers
We are doing some dive stories later this month with Mike Young and I can't wait.
@@BlueWorldplus Great 👍
After I did my first solo dive (mapping a crystal clear quarry for my DM project), I thought I understood why he insists on doing these rescues alone, it's so relaxing when you only have to worry about yourself, you don't have to keep track of your dive buddy or a student or a group of students, it's nice in a familiar environment... Lol I'm guessing this experience is a major factor in that decision.
Edit: I'm not a cave diver (yet?), but I'm probably going to add Cave Adventurers phone number to my general emergency action plan.
'If it's impossible call Edd'.... So this is how that came about. He is one awesome dude and a great story-teller to boot.
Waiting for the next one
We have another that is AMAZING but we are trying to locate some of the footage from the actual event, so we can really round it out.
Edd is a genuine 1 of 1. No one in the world is like this man...What a legend
I dont dive , I will NEVER dive and I have NEVER understood the 'crazy people' who dive into caves. That all said, since I found Dive Talk, Edd and Mike I am HOOKED. I've watched unknown amounts of videos one after another ever since, I likely know more about diving and rescue than a cpl scuba divers I know lol.
A couple of times I've ALMOST wanted to dive in the ocean (near the shore lol), but more likely I'll just enjoy the adventures through these adventures and be happy with that.
One last thing... Edd and Mike and the people who dive to retrieve bodies from wrecks or who have gotten lost etc.. are TRUE HEROS. I have nothing but absolute respect 🙏
I know it's a lil gruesome but I could listen to these stories all day!
I love that my husband knows if I ever get stuck in a cave to call Ed😂 any time he hears Ed on UA-cam now he’s like ‘he’s the one I have to call?’
I’m not sure why I’d ever be stuck in a cave or diving but he knows the drill 😂
I like the way Edd tells what happened, instead of giving us a limited perspective he recounts events in a way that let's us visualize it and build our own individual perspectives..
I just stumbled on a different video telling the story about one of Ed's rescues then searched him on here hoping to find these exact videos of him! He's totally got marine vibes. I'd love to hear an interview where he answers questions about how he developed his mentality and how he stays focused and non emotional in order to be efficient and get shit done. It's super inspiring and I think so beneficial for people to understand how many situations this is helpful for, especially when it comes to life or death situations.
This dude is like the Shackleton of cave diving.
This man sounds like a blast to be around.
He is a very down-to-Earth dude. And the kindest person you would ever meet. Every time I see him, I get a big hug.
No fault of Edd but I need an extra diagram to properly comprehend what sort of nightmarish trapping of "cave" that was already tight enough to trap this body so impossibly and how he managed to find "room" to navigate around it and pull it out. I just try not to think about deciding to squeeze into the literally hellhole that was already dangerous enough to be responsible for one corpse after removing his gear, all while experiencing the pleasure of doing it up around and around said dead body. Can't even be bothered to mention the part where the mountain your swimming into might collapse and bury you alive.
Edd is famous cave diver, even I've heard of him! But I would never do what he does! Taking scuba into caves. That reminds me of taking first graders up Everest, under water. "No way buddy"!
Anyone else think it’s hilarious how he sounds like he’s breathing with a regulator in even as he’s sitting there talking.
Edd in one of your videos which I can't find again, you tell a story about a diver on a recovery mission, he found an air pocket and a voice said "looking for a dead guy" that was so cool the guy was still alive. Can you post that video again in my email please and the rest of that video is well worth watching as well. You do rescue and recovery without charge you are such a humanitarian and a selfless guy, you are one in a million! I look forward to more of your videos.
Hanging on every word … love this guy!
At the risk of making light of tragedy and near tragedy, I’ve noticed a consistent theme in these stories and its that pizza seems to be THE meal for rescue and recovery.
Look at the man real life crocodile dundee i dont know how old he is but he's riped
You guys rule for doing all this content the last several months. Really great , just wanted to say thank you.
Much appreciated!
Thease cave divers are absolutely nuts and this dude is a maniac he dose stuff so crazzy like prying rocks in a cave for dead body once your stressed out and over welded time to stop and go home take a brake come back the next day
Such a great story teller. Thanks for keeping the videos coming out with Edd
We have more to come!!
Edd, sir, you are a National Treasure. God Bless you!!
Edd stories never fail to amaze. He is truly a REAL Hero.
Edd and Mike young are both the best. If I was in trouble I'd want ed or Mike coming for me.
We all would.
I am so terribly disappointed in the two divers that left when they saw the dead body, the body they were there to recover. The body that could've left Edd trapped. I heard on another episode they never dived again and had terrible ptsd from it all. But, man... that was the worst, worst time possible they could've got cold feet.
I love Edds recovery stories!
I have bad ears and can’t even equalize my ears under water. Your videos take me along for the ride. If I had better ears, I would get my OW cert and eventually cavern and cave diving. Nevertheless, thanks for your videos always taking me along for the ride
Now that my son and daughter are adults, I have to hope they don’t ever go cave diving. Edd is a superhero.
Cannot put into words how much I love seeing the Edd stories here and on Dive Talk. Is the Blue World team down in Cozumel with Mike and the Dive Talk guys this week?
Sadly we are not there with them this week. However we will be down there with them in July!! We will be diving with Mike in 2 weeks though.
Edd, are you related to Ann Sorenson? If so I worked with her at AUTEC.
i cant believe body recovery divers bailed on him. thats taught in open water diver class
People should sign a waiver, im an idiot, dont risk your life to save mine?
Im trying to imagine what it must have been like for the diver. To force ones head into that tiny of a space while your lungs are screaming..... 🫢🫢🫢
Yeah, that sounds horrific. 😳
I LOVE ❤ BLUE WORLD 🌎 AND EDD!
Need some scary close calls moments told by Brian Kakok and Mike Young
We just shot a great interview with Mike Young!!!
Really glad this showed up on my feed.
I’ve canoed the lower Santa Fe and camped along that river many times. And the vast majority of the Suwannee too.
Ginnie Springs FL is a magical place geologically speaking…there are many other springs that are worth visiting as well up river from there, and a couple down river too, that are not so populated as Ginnie
I’ve always watched the divers suiting up in front of that grim reaper sign warning of many deaths. Always kinda creepy
I’m surprised if he wasn’t involved in the famous Thai cave rescue of a few years back
This is so irrelevant but I had that same chair and I loved it so much. I couldn’t afford fancy outdoor furniture but I really wanted a lounging chair and this one was in my budget. It might not have been the most luxury piece but I sat on that chair to read outside so many times and I was living the good life. Eventually I wore it out and replaced it. RIP chair. You were loved.
LOL! RIP CHAIR!
As always a pleasure
support from war torn Afghan / Balochistan
I’m supposed to tell them if I mutilate them…🤣
Yeah, kinda gnarly.
If I was stuck in a cave and given an option between aquaman or Ed to come get me. I'd have to think it over
I wouldn't because Aquaman is fictional and Edd is the real deal!!
I hope he’s training others to do what he does. Though you can train all the time. But his mentality is really what separates Ed from everyone else. He’s able to shut off emotions during the events. That’s something you can’t teach.
It can easily be taught. I’m like that due to childhood abuse, so when things were bad in the Army, I didn’t shut down. I’d already been in very bad situations as a kid.
@@toscadonna I don’t believe that mentality can be easily taught. I think it’s very special. A very small percentage of the population can deal with stress like this.
@@toscadonnaagain.. it's not something that can be taught lol.
@@toscadonnayou just proved that it wasn’t taught to you. It was forced upon you by your circumstances… you just used this an an opportunity to show us how hard and badass you are but nobody cares because Ed is was more badass… so care to try again?
geez, how sore would you be with the other recovery divers who bailed mid recovery?
that's a sad way to go, stuck in between rocks and inevitably drowning
😢
Edd is always a wonderful storyteller. Thank you for sharing.
Edd is the rockstar of the cave diving world. A legend in his own lifetime
Love story time with Ed. Keep ‘em coming!!
Hope you are doing well Ed!
The R Lee Ermey of diving!
Yes Ed has a unique ability to speak about his experiences, but what holds me spellbound, and what i don' quit get is why people would want to undertake such a mortally dangerous activity, do they get a thrill from dancing with danger or what is it, going into spaces where we as creatures that need to breathe to stay alive, remove that ability and make that dependant on pieces of technologhy that can stop on us , including compression etc etc...a bit nutty if you ask me!
Cave diving is insanely fun. Basically that's it in a nutshell.
Hell yeah a new Edd story! I’ve watched all the other ones multiple times, SO awesome to hear a new one! More please!!
More to come!
Dang it, Jonathan. You owe me a good night's rest. I can't stop binge watching these and it's getting late. 😂
Edd is a beast, wow, not all supermen wear a cape, this one wears a KISS. Does anyone know if Edd lived and owned a dive shop in Eugene oregon?
I love the Edd stories! Thanks for sharing!
I don't know how he does it because there's no way I would ever cave dive cuz I'll go ahead and tell you my balls ain't as big as his, and even if I was a cave driver there's no way I'd go recover a body for some reason it just freaks me out
EDD is, without a doubt, unique and a hero. But his luck can run out. He needs to stop doing rescues and recoveries. He can't be the best forever. He's done enough.
17:15 the sound of breaking bones is horrifying. Had to dissect a cadaver and cutting through the ribs and hearing them crack was far more disturbing than like removing the skin or organs.
😳
I love listening to Edd tell stories….
Me too. I love his voice. He's so amazing & nonchalant about it all.
He's a great storyteller, I enjoy listening. Seems like a very humble, knowlegable & talented diver who makes a difference.
I Love how Edd tells it like it is
This guy is just pure testosterone.
Edd is amazing!!! Thank you for this wonderful content ❤
You should get Edd on for more stories. This is the type of man that only comes around once in a while, like once in a century.
He is like the S/Maj that stays cool when the Officers panick, stress and loose their minds.
I truly hope he realizes the day that he cannot do it anymore and retires and lives his life out without dying in an accident which I am sure he will as he has a sound mind and head on his shoulders. 👍🏻 😎
Ed has some great stories, and absolutely no disrespect to him…. But folks…. At 16:48 in, when someone is in full rigor mortis, you can break the effects of the rigor, but it DOES NOT break their arms…. All they are doing is breaking down the rigor mortis in the muscle tissue!! It does sometimes make a sound, but it is not bone breaking….
I like his biceps
DO NOT arm wrestle Edd!!
Edds an absolute unit
It sounds so difficult but even I know it's even more difficult than I can imagine. Crazy
I've been bingeing. 1045 first time I've heard him say he got scared. So he's actually human them!
Im very surprised that Ed could ever drag himself out of the water.... due to the size of his gigantic balls !
Respect to Edd 💦🤙
Thank you for what you do. And I respect what you said about my x father in-law Bill Reinker. I was married to Linda. I just wish I had gone through his training, back in the day, he was a great man.
I could and currently am watching EDD tell his stories for hours and hours. I live in NC and heard of his TN rescue. Would love to set around a campfire and listen to him.
I can't believe they just left him stuck in there. Pushing him by himself.. if he would have died, that would have been on them.. great story telling. Very interesting.
Edd is a brave man. Respect
18:03 😂 lmfao!!! He tells such a great story, man. The way he clasps around his eyes, "hello?" Lol it's great.
Omg- think about how panicked and terrified you have to be to jam your head into a crack only 5 inches wide (get a tape measure or ruler and look at 5 inches) and push so hard you jam your leg between boulders to the point the recovery guy has a really tough time getting you free. And they say this is common- that in the last few seconds lots of divers will jam themselves into some crack or hole trying to find an air pocket or escape. I guess at that point it's literally do or die so- they just try anything and don't care how badly they hurt themselves in the process. Some Russian dude- of course he's Russian- stabbed himself in the heart after realizing he was doomed. Rather than facing that slow wait for the air to run out- and then that horrible panic and terror when it does- he stabbed himself in the heart and it was over. LOL- Do you buy it? Because I don't- Idk who killed that man, but I don't believe he did it. Can you imagine trying to stab yourself in the heart, with all your gear on, in a cave, knowing you're about to be out of air? Come on man- no one is that good or that calm. Besides, where that guy was- once you swam into that second chamber and realized what you had done- the solution is easy- go back to the junction and take the only other passage you've not taken yet. They say instead he went back to the junction and went right back into the first chamber again- then gave up and stabbed himself. No way that happened. There were other divers in the area at the time- they were interviewed and released but- we're not getting the full story imo.
Man Ed's awesome to listen too. Glad this man is brave enough to get these people of these caves.
Edd’s stories are amazing. Real hero and legend.
He is great story teller.
Thank you!
This man has saw alot of death from not being safety oriented and I believe that's how he able to move on from it. But I can't believe this man does volunteer rescue? For free?. Like wow. How unselfish as a man .
"There's only one person crazy enough to attemp this... So he calls me up..." 😂
Who else has already listened to Edd's stories and is back for a three-peat or more?
So good!
Ive lost count of how many times ive come back to listen to everything youtube has on Edd Sorenson
