In Chinese culture - and I'm sure in many others - you can refer to people as sister/brother/auntie/uncle as a sign of respect and as part of the hierarchy. You don't need to be related. Shaolin Soccer is an obvious one to check out next, but the best Stephen Chow film is probably A Chinese Odyssey.
The knife scene will ALWAYS crack me up no matter how many times i see it! It's one of the few things my brother and i share, we'll be 70 and still laugh talking about it i swear😂
Fun fact, the axe gang dance at the beginning was one of the hardest shots they did in the whole film, as getting it to look perfect and in sync was a pain
@@IamNinjaOfNinja It was a last minute add suggested by the actor who played the gang boss. Most probably weren't even professional dancers you usually see doing film dances.
Widely considered the Looney Tunes equivalent of kung fu films. It's literally a live action cartoon. And it's the gold standard for how filmmakers should represent anime fights in live action. It's such a timeless gem.
The landlord's name is Yuen Wah. He played the role of the old man in Tao Lo in the movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Additionally, the Kung Fu Hustle movie poster was visible in Shang-Chi's bedroom. Finally, the ten rings in the movie were portrayed as armbands/bracelets instead of finger rings as depicted in the comic book and were worn by the tailor character in Kung Fu Hustle.
i was told that was because coolie's kungfu is more of muscle, less chi, aka less sensitive, lowest level among those three, so he didnt even realise those two killers were there. and when the 10ring tailor was pulled out of his shop, he at least was able to spot that music, and noticed the killer immediately.
@annaliu908 I feel that he had to be taken out quick from far because he is too dangerous to deal with hand to hand, face to face. The other not so blind guy will probably lose to Coolie if so. I hated they film it this way and people assume Coolie is the weakest. He was not given a chance to fight back at all while the other 2 had the chance to anticipate
I wonder what the boys would think of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000)"? It was nominated for 10 Oscars, and winning 4 that year. Also Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere) & Zhang Ziyi (Rush Hour 2) are the leads! ☺🗡💪
House of flying daggers is also another good kung fu movie that is the classic Chinese film from 80s that uses a lot of wire fu. Also movie hero starring jet li is also a classic.

This one of my absolute favorites. I’m always really moved at the end when he turns his adversary into a friend by simply saying, “I can teach you.” The Beast recognizes he has so much to learn outside of hatred & violence. Hence his emotional response. Such beautiful sentiment in a crazy movie. There’s more power in the open hand than in the closed fist. 💜💜
This is one of my favourite movies. I can rewatch this over and over again. I always find little things that I missed from previous watches. I still feel sad that the first three king fu masters died. Loved this movie
This is one of my dads favorite movies. I’ve watched this movie so many times. He used to watch the Old Lady’s scenes in slow mo & crack up for SO long. 😂
I saw this film when it came outing American theaters in 2004. I've probably watched it over 50 times since then. One of the great comedy movies of all time in my opinion because the action sequences are actually good! Great blend of humor, drama, character arcs and violence.
One of the principles of kung fu is to not take a life, it’s more defensive and or spiritual. That’s why the good guys don’t kill using kung fu, only the villains do.

Stephen Chow has a crew of actors that you see in all of his movies, the fat guy is one of them, as well as the two leaders of the axe gang. Most interesting though is the story of the actor who plays the Beast. This was his return role to acting after decades. Big brother is the big boss, second brother is the second in rank. Or if they are the disciples of the same master, the first one who became the student is called big brother.
"That was his sister" lol no, we asians use big brother/big sister/auntie/uncle to people either we look up to or older than us, even those that are not related to us, it's like honorifics too, similar to Mr/Ms/Sir/Maam And how could you not know this masterpiece of a movie and Stephen Chow? enjoyed the reactions; but omg the guy on the left with the tics - he's soooo cute!
Has been awhile since seen this ! Without cheating The One / Stephen Chow directed the movie played the One and was also the old man scamming the kids with his " Fake " how to books 🤣😂!
'That's not a cool thing to be, I dont really think of a frog when i think of a beast...' 😆 Zuff is soo funny without he even realising it
"Big Brother" not only doesn't need to mean they are related, it's just what people use to show respect when they call someone who seems to be older. Also "big brother" is used to call gang boss. Big brother is the big boss, second brother is the second in rank. Or if they are the disciples of the same master, the first one who became the student is called big brother.
I miss you guys. Thank you for reacting on this movie.
I love watching this as a kod. Didn't know the fame could reach outside of Asia.
Watch Shaolin soccer same director and actors from this movie. Love both movies grew up watching it.
21:35 😂 funny reactions from y'all
"That was his sister" lol no, we asians use big brother/big sister/auntie/uncle to people either we look up to or older than us, even those that are not related to us, it's like honorifics too, similar to Mr/Ms/Sir/Maam
And how could you not know this masterpiece of a movie and Stephen Chow? Preposterous, won so many awards and at one point, the highest grossing foreign film in the west, how could you? Hahaha
Check out Shaolin Soccer too, made and stars the same guy (which is also a big hit)
EDIT: That guy wearing green, are f****** okay dude? Lol
Dude on the left should get his neck checked out lol I’m kinda worried
Hahahahha all of you were scared with the snake bite.
Then watch "Shaolin Soccer" the main character there is also him.
You guys are in for a treat
