Love your videos! I have a question... I'm looking for a dry fly rod that I can also use to try out euro nymphing. I know you guys use the Recon a lot. Would you recommend a 10ft 3wt Recon for both drys (with regular fly line) and esn? Or is there a better option in that price range? I fish the Henry's fork, so I need to be able to handle bigger fish. Thanks! Again, love the videos!
Hey man, I have the Echo Shadow II in the 10ft 3wt. It's definitely the entry level rod, but I change my spool out for WF if I'm on the drift boat or I'm in big water. It handles the floating line just fine. I caught a small 5lb steelie last winter swinging soft hackles and it handled that fish fine. If you're looking for something a little nicer, Echo also has the Shadow X which is the same price as the recon.
@@johnathanolsen6959 Also know that Euro nymphing is a lot easier with a purpose built rod. You can totally euro nymph with a 9ft dry fly rod, but it's a lot harder. Whereas, you can euro nymph and dry fly with a 10ft euro rod. The extra 1ft and the softer tip on the euro rod helps a ton for the purpose fishing.
I have the 10-3 recon and picked it for just that reason. I like to switch between nymphs and streamers. Its a euro specific rod but it handles tossing streamers well enough with a reel/spool change over trying to pack around a second rod. 🙂
As usual - you patterns are SICK!!! I tie and fish almost all of them bro!!!
Damn nice hook set.
SILVER LANCE IT ✨ 🎣 💫
Nice video. Could you tell me if you were using a micro-thin leader? And were you using wax as a supplemental sighter?
Micro leader, yes. No wax in this video.

@@skylarholliman1982 Thanks! That's what I was looking for. I'll check out the shadow x as well.

The recon would work great, as would most euro rods. Simply carry a spool with a standard fly line and tapered leader for dries. 👌

Still using the old pack?! Also what rod are you using? Thanks in Advance @flyfishfood !
Lance is a die hard ESN 10½ 3 weight I believe. He may drop down to a 2 weight at times.
@@glencamblin thanks, but look at the reel seat - definitely NOT the Sage in this one.... Maybe a Thomas? Lance can you throw us a bone here?
@flyfishfood
Joel I used the T&T 10’ 2 weight in this video.
No nymphing line? What do you use as leader material there? Thanks
I used the SA competition nymph line in this video. I sometimes use the cortland competition nymph line too.
Still haven't switched out the pack yet, eh Lance?
Still running old school 🤷♂️
What shirt are you wearing?
