2019.3.12 Tsukuba Time Attack - ドラ走 筑波

An Attack Maximum Challenge time attack event at Tsukuba Circuit.
Normally, the main event Attack Tsukuba held at the end of February is the last Attack event of the season held at Tsukuba.
However, this year's Attack Tsukuba saw some teams that weren't able to make it on the day of and others nearly missing their target times.
Therefore, one and final event at Tsukuba was announced, last minute.
With only 19 cars in attendance on this much warmer day in March, the conditions for new Personal Bests were definitely tougher but watch as numerous cars defied the odds.

例年、2月末に開催されるメインイベント、アタック筑波でシーズンが終了するなか、今年はそのイベントで出走できなかった車両や、惜しくもベスト更新できなかった車両も数多く、シーズンラストとなる「おかわり走」が開催されました。
当日は合計19台が、3月にもなって気温も上がってきた厳しい条件のにも関わらず、何台もの参加車がベストを更新してきました。

It amazes me just how good the FD3s Rx7 is still today. Not much is as fast as a well tuned and aero FD. Its one of the reasons I race one in time attack myself. Its such a proven platform.

*I'd love to know more history of the Cement FD3S, seeing as it was/is a Team Mid Night car, (at least it appears to have been/be, by the sticker on the rear bumper) but one with no period photos of it, that seem to exist. I also wonder if it was a different color back in the day..*

Here it is, 2019 and the majority of the field are examples from the JDM golden age of the nineties. Sad state of modern cars.

The modern cars are bogged down with creature comforts and electronics. Sad really, however blame the market. People won't spend 250K on a car without climate control, safety systems, and adjustable interiors, so the auto manufacturers compensate with horsepower. Also most cars are meant and designed for road driving. So when placed on a track they fail, something like a koneiseg is fast as hell on the autobahn, but would get smoked on a twisty downhill course.
