- Conquer the Wild | LimX Dynamics’ Biped Robot P1 ventured into Tanglang Mountain Based on Reinforcement Learning ⛰️
⛳️ With Zero-shot Learning, non-protected and fully open testing conditions, P1 successfully navigated the completely strange wilderness of the forest, demonstrating exceptional control and stability post reinforcement learning by dynamically locomoting over various complex terrains.
⛳️ P1 is LimX Dynamics’ innovative point-foot biped robot, serving as an important platform for the systematic development and modular testing of reinforcement learning. It is utilized to advance the research and iteration of basic biped locomotion abilities. The success of P1 in conquering forest terrain is a testament to LimX Dynamics’ systematic R&D in reinforcement learning.
⛳️ Beyond locomotion, LimX Dynamics continues to make breakthroughs in manipulation and loco-manipulation on humanoid robots, with more developments to be shared in the future.
🏃 Come on to start the adventure with P1!

@@crazyfakar1Hi. To be fair, the teaching replaced enforced learning via training since a server farm for such a training will cost too much. Instead, they keep a set of obligatory scenarios that the robot must learn. However, soon will be available actual neural processors (FPGA with different architecture, i.e. more crossbar switches) and once these are installed, we are f*cked up. Literally.
P.S. I have a degree in mechatronics. I was young, I never knew! ;-)

@@SmokesKwazukiisquare cube law. If you make something twice as large it's mass gets cubed. More mass to accelerate is bad for agility and range. Ideally this is as small as necessary to fulfill its function.
seeing stuff like this always reminds me how insanley sophisticated the biology of the human body is.
We just balance and walk like it's nothing, yet we've only just recently figured out how to make other stuff do it.
We still don’t have it figured out. Sure we can get kind of close but we still can’t match humans, animals or insects walking perfectly.
we could, but it would cost millions for one unit
Well, we don't balance and walk like it's nothing. Even children that have been able to walk for ages are still very clumsy, and can stumble and fall over the tiniest stuff when not paying attention. Even as adults, depending on how active and developed your motor skills are, we can be quite clumsy. Amazingly sophisticated nonetheless, but it ain't nothing!
every human learning how to walk few years lol)) there was just not enough computing power before to do robots like that.
I bet you’d fall if you got whacked in the leg like that.
I've just come from 50 years in the future, where I was watching a UA-cam video of robots whacking people in the legs to see if they'd fall over. It was hilarious.

@@TetrzLesonduclairon-qb7cn No, the robots take pity on them because the robots were treated like animals, too.

You don't have to come so far. Terminator happened in 2029, that's pretty much in 5 years from now (it's 2024), and with the pace AI and robot technology is evolving, in 5 years we will have full blown army of T-800 smashing our skulls.

Man, such stability for a bipedal bot is really impressive.
I would say that the most impressive part is the leg part , the leg is kinda like the one that Spot and other quadrupeds has , but that kind of leg is hard to use in a bipedal robot due to the lack of degrees of freedom, meaning that this thing has a *really* good balance
I can't imagine how awesome it will be when they test it sober.

What bewilders me is that roboticists have not yet seemed to figured out feet. Now they may argue that they aren't necessary or something akin to that, but if you look at most organic creatures bigger than a baseball you can see that obviously evolution favors feet, to grasp onto the ground and have versatile yet efficient movement.
it's because modeling contact with the ground is much harder for a foot than for a nub that can be approximated as a point or a sphere
That's true, but tetrapod limbs evolved hundreds of millions of years ago. If nubs were better we'd have evolved to walk that way by now. Robots use nubs because feet are complicated.
Maybe one day robots will have feet too
Horses, mountain goats, bison have not figured feet out either, yet seem to be well adapted to their native terrain.

0:44 I think it's neat how the robot can switch it's orientation from walking knees-backwards to knees-forward as needed, like it going knees-forward with walking up the hill and then switching to it's normal orientation when going downhill. It will be interesting if this sort of thing can be taken advantage of... like have robots with 360 vision so they don't necessarily need a single 'front' direction, and then choose to run in one direction or the next depending on what's needed at the time. Like running one way to for speed, or running another way when carrying loads or if it needs stability, etc.

This is the reason for the Robot Uprising. they were trained with violence so don't expect anything less. just imagine a concision artificial intelligence se this video.
I bet you see people in the cloud
Nothing to do with violence, they are testing robustness and performance so that if these bots are transporting you down from a mountain for instance because you broke both your legs, the robots doesn't just drop you because it doesn't have the robustness or the material strength to carry out the task as a result of external disturbance.
If a Sentient AI somehow see this video, just because you don't understand that the bot in the video isn't sentient doesn't mean the AI would be as ignorant.
You've been watching too much Terminator. Just because it appears 'alive' the concept of what violence even is, is so far beyond that this is ever capable of conceiving - it is no more possible for this machine to rebel against you than a toaster.
OMG you gys think I am serious. Please take yourself less serious. laugh a bit have some fun, eat a beagle, or a doughnut for your snugger levels.
@@FassinTaakBe careful with your assumptions! It's not hard to imagine a robot like this outfitted to be a patrol/defense tool. It doesn't matter about your philosophical debate on the concept of 'alive'. The second you allow robots to act as agents of a greater AI system, possibilities are endless, and I'm not particularly talking about an 'uprising' but people using bots for 'protection' and so on. It's not far off, and law enforcement + military will be the ones leading the way, while enthusiasts hack consumer models to do the same with open source tools
Already love it 🤩
Very impressive, great work !
It's like that scene from office space where they take the printer into a field and beat it to shreds
Lmao
me too
With out doubt this is am amazing biped, however, I do wonder when we will have robots that show intelligence in their walking. We, as humans, don't step on everything, we avoid puddles, rocks, bushes and we don't kick up sand. Our ability to navigate within our immediate surroundings makes it economical in way that we don't have fight to stay upright all the time. We avoid putting ourselves in such situations as doing so would make it extremely inefficient. Doing so would wreak havoc on our ligaments, tendons and bones.
You are not a "human", you are a man.
you are right, this vid is basically the equivalent to a blind person being sent out into the jungle. it will always look uncoordinated until lidar sensors etc are integrated and it's planning its steps in real-time
Probably quicker than you'd think. Newer AI models are starting to come out that can quickly train physical bots in ways not seen yet. I think Agent AI? Might be what it's called.
We can also stand on one leg for a while, and smoothly transition between legs, so we don't have to keep hopping back and forth every 1/4 of a second to keep stability.
Does it need to conserve energy in the same way a human does? If not, then walking like a human is not the goal. I honestly don’t care how it does it, as long as it gets the job done in the time and energy budget available whilst achieving the goals set for it.
It doesn’t have tendons and ligaments like a human, so that’s not a good criteria in my mind.
It’s going to learn fast like a baby or child stumbling all over the place, then it will map the most efficient path as per the goals set for it. Hell, if that includes somersaults and handstands, idgaf.
Can't wait to get my own Moa Companion.
Przerażające!
The impressiveness of this demonstration was marred by what looked like a small animal or toddler being beaten, kicked, shoved and dragged. Rationally one knows the robot is a machine, but it’s movements suggest to the observer that it is a creature being attacked by a larger creature, where a tracked or wheeled robot would likely not be seen as a living thing.
The "stop, i have feelings" talk functionality is missing tho.
OMG *_* a little version of an AT-ST from Star Wars
