- hi friends!
hopefully this video is a good overview of big things that can help outweigh your low GPA when applying to dental school. if you have any questions put them in the comments and i'd love to answer them as best as i can :)
you can do this, i promise!

"The people that get into school are the ones that don't give up." THANK YOU for this video! I needed to hear this. I'm approaching my last few months of undergrad and my GPA is looking weak. Your video came up on my feed and it was just what I needed. Thank you for sharing your experience. Subscribed! I'm going to binge the rest of your videos during my study breaks haha
omg this comment just made me tear up a little, thank you so much for writing this. happy to help!!! you got this!
so helpful, thank you for taking the energy to share with us!!
Thank you sm for this! You just gained a subscriber
You go girl!!!! Super proud of you!!🥹
Dolapo!!! You’re the best thank you 🥹
This was so inspiring! Needed to hear this rn as a pre-dental student trying to raise my gpa. Congratulations!!
this makes me so happy :) good luck, you got it!!
Hey Dr. Pepper!!! Just stumbled on your vid! I'm super proud to have you as a part of our class. You are killing at school and as our class secretary. Keep up the great work and keep putting out great content.
Rhett
congratulations!!! i am an undergrad right now (sophomore) and i don't have the highest GPA and you inspire me😭
trust me, if i can do it so can you! you got it :) also you have soo much time to make the change too
Hi!! Thank you so much for this video i’m taking my DAT in a few weeks and this video really made me motivated to grind it out!
I was wondering where do you attend dental school? I am having a hard to deciding where to apply to
Please make that DAT video, I’m really needing it about right now!!
hi! it's coming i promise :) for now just keep pushing through, start practice exams *earlier than you think* and anki bio flashcards really helped me in that section. i know it sucks a lot but you can do it i promise!
Hey congrats!! thank you for this amazing video. What did you end up getting on the DAT?
thank you for watching! i got a 19! to be honest i probably should have retaken it realistically but thankfully it worked out
Please do a video on the DATs. I would truly appreciate it, currently taking it in March
hi! this is in the works but I don't think it'll be ready by march, but if you DM me on Instagram (@irinapepp) i can try to help the best I can!
Nice vid as a first year in bio I relate with gpa
thank you!! I know it can be rough but you got it!
Hi! Thank you for the video. Super helpful. Can I ask what you got on the DAT?
hi! thank you for watching :) i got a 19 overall!
3.81 GPA, 19 AA 19 TS, 19 PAT. But I did score a 17 on Bio 😢 Do you recommend retaking my DAT?
what school did you get in?
17 credits is quite the undertaking
lol yes it was not the best decision on my part
had to sub
congrats!! I had applied for this cycle, and I am hoping for the best 😮 i was wondering if you could share tips/advice with your experience in the interview and how you prepared for it!
hi! yes I would love to :) also don't give up hope yet - a good chunk of interviews goes out after January
Would you recommend me joining the honors college at my school? I know I’m not going to my first semester but I can always transfer. Or are honors classes not really a major factor in dental school admissions. I think it would be better to maintain a high non honors GPA but I’m unsure.
hi! ask your advisors or any pre-health (dental/med/PA) students around you! I would say an honors program would be good as long as your grades are still strong. I think you're making the right move by doing a semester non-honors and seeing how it goes! good luck, you got it :)
Do they take the average of your F and the repeat grade?
hi! for my school they took out the F completely, but for AADSAS (dental school application service), yes they take the average!
I'm in the same boat as you were! What did you do in your 2 gap years to improve your application?
hi! i worked in a pediatric dental office, tried to continue volunteering semi-regularly, took two extra classes (immunology + another bio class), and reallyyyy focused on the DAT and doing the best I could in that
@@irina.pepper Thank you sm for the response! Where did you volunteer and also have you worked on any research in your gap year?
@@danaiosup8650I did not have research before dental school, if you have the opportunity to do it I would! I did my research in dental school
I volunteered with an organization in Washington DC because I really liked their mission :) so just find something that you connect with and care about - it won’t feel like a “chore” at that point, you’ll feel happy doing it
DAT is actually a waste of time and money with lots of suffering and suffering and suffering.
i know it's a rough time :/ but so worth it if dentistry is something you're committed to! don't let it stop you from entering the field if that's the only reason, you got it :)
Dental is becoming like pharmacy school where anybody will get in like law and pharmacy school so easy to get in. I heard optomery isn’t as competitive as dentistry. BUT dental school is becoming like pharmacy school foshooo
🥲🥲🥹🙏🙏🙏 thank u
