- Our students talk about why they came to Northeastern University and why they find Boston a good place to study architecture. Studio culture, coop and study abroad are discusses as distinguishing factors of our program.
currently left 1 year finishing my masters of architecture.... the secret to survive and even being a top class student in this course is TIME MANAGEMENT no matter how genius you are in designing , software , etc....if u dont manage your time youre doomed.
Luqmanul Hakim Ty :3
I'm still at high school but i can relate
Luqmanul Hakim I’m doomed I need help
Rules to successful time management:
- don’t procrastinate, if you were good at high school doing this then don’t have it after leaving because remember just because you get accepted doesn’t mean you should celebrate hard and forget the reason why you got there
-Know your limits so focus energy on getting tasks done one at a time then taking at least a 10 minute break
-Practice working with your hands whether it’s the computer software you’ll be using (Rhino, AutoCAD, Illustrator, etc.) or drafting or putting together your printed work
-Go to sleep, wake up early, then do some exercise or at least stretch (this gets you motivated for long work ahead and it releases stress by getting your heart pumping)
-Prep your meals and bring it in, the studio is your new home
-And finally, and this one is the important one, don’t make a habit of looking at the clock every few minutes, during this time you can find shortcuts or ways to finish small work that’s off to the side
This is true ,what is your advice for time management in school projects?
I am an architecture student. It is hard, draining, and makes you question your ability. If you really want to survive you have to purely love architecture. That’s what our instructors always say. It’s not just drawing and stuff (like how most people see it).
I'm in my 1st year of Architecture and I'm enjoying every bit of it
what school do you go to ?
I wannt to be an architect and i wannt to thank people in comments for scareing me :P
Same !! 😅
They ain't lie, architecture school is very challenging. Most of the time your design got rejected again and again while the deadline come closer. Sometime you don't sleep like 2-3 days at all (in my case) and i started to questioning my sanity after day 3.
Huhu hahaha
@@syahmiqawiem couldnt you say thag for some 5-7 years😂😅😅😅
Same !!
These comments are so real.
I love architecture school. It is always challenging, but it's supposed to be.
NyTesia Streeter im dying
@@geshapinol9542 Yea, I'm currently in the last semester of my 4th year and it's hell haha! Haven't slept in a 8 days.
N st. Don’t exaggerate pls no way you didnt sleep for 8days
I finished Architecture at the top of my class from one of the best colleges and those were the most stressful days of my life. I had a non existent social life and didn't get any time to pursue my other interests, didn't make enough friends. Ah man, it's like you have got to choose , either be great at your work or live life. No one gets the best of both worlds.
I actually mastered time management during those years cause I could never give up on sleep but let me tell you, I had time to do absolutely nothing else. Felt so lonely.
this video is so inspiring! i've been drawing girly rooms and girly houses since i was a kid and i knew that architecture was going to be for me. my parents wanted me to become a dermatologist but i realized it was too hard for me like??? idk i just don't feel about the dermatologist thing??? i'm so excited to get out of high school and move to tokyo ((my uncle told me tokyo is a great place to study architecture? since he lived there for 10 years so i believe him hehe!)) let's see what my future brings! :D i wish everyone with all the best to those who wants to be an architecture!
that's awesome, best of luck!! i'm currently studying interior architecture and design. ^^
Sanshine thank u! :) as of now, i'm actually torn between multimedia arts and architecture but it's okay i have more time to think about it HAHAHA and HEY THAT'S COOL!!!! my mom told me she wanted to study interior architecture and design when she was little. best of luck with that fam!!!!! :)
kayla I was torn between Architecture and Interior hahah but the latter interested me more so I went for that one (it was quite last minute too!) Awww that's nice! And thank you!! It's gonna be a long 3.5 years hahah I've only finished my first semester c:
Sanshine WOAH FAM CONGRATS ON FINISHING SEMESTER AND WISH U ALL THE BEST!!!! and i just now realized that you're an army because of your icon omg hi jdhdjf
kayla THANK YOU!!! It was filled with so much stress, depression and anxiety asdfg I'm so glad it's done ;; WISHING YOU THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE! And yes asdfg better not talk about that here though hahah twitter's the best for that 😂😂👌🏻
All these sweet talks about architecture... it's a trap people. Studio is not fun when you got the deadline coming and you haven't slept for 5/6 days
feel you :))
Tanima Sonar yes that's true. It seems to always happen every single project.
Yep, architecture is probably the most overrated/romanticized field.
I’m 14 and taking notes lmao.
exactly lol Im studying architecture in TU Berlin and it is not as sweet and exciting as in this video.. it is so often the case that we spend 2 whole days in the studio literally
I'm so inspire from Architect Zaha Hadid. And this video is so helpful, because i can get imagine how feel study in that University. Thanks.
This video is like those advertisements trying to lure you into buying it honestly. I've finished architecture school. Wasn't fun at all to stay up for 5-6days straight and then face critic. Even if you get praised [which might be like twice in 4-5 years] it won't be worth the amount of inhumanely hours you have to put into.
And for jobs. hehehehe..goodluck surviving biasness and favoritism.
But if you are indeed very passionate about architecture then go for it. It'll be like unfolding a new world.
Other than that just cuz it looks fun and seems interesting, trust me it ain't worth it that way.
MI u really scared me.... I thought of taking up architecture but now I'm not so sure..
Aashir Dupak same
Damn you’re really negative. How’s architect life going for you?
TheLewisma the op is stating facts though. If you don’t have a very string passion for it, you will struggle.
It’s the same in school as well as in the professional world. Insane amount of work for mediocre pay.
One has to be absolutely crazy about architecture to actually enjoy it.
I should have seen this comment one year ago :// now I am fucked
i'm watching this while procrastinating about my architecture task. damnnnn architecture is so hard😭
It gives me new hope.😌
I'm really inspired to be a architect actually before seeing this video I was confused about how this profession will be for me I mean suitable or not ....but now I'm really wanna be architect nd ..yaa I'm ready for it
Zannatul Nila yeah it’s a trap but good luck
i was actually thinking about getting an architect course or tourism but when i see this vid, i dont want to study anymore ;)
Then you aren't the right person to become an architect ;-)
woow..i ws motivated by thz video.
What they said was partially true. You hardly have a full rest but in all we as arch students have to make it fun, or else you will end up making your studio your first home
im confuse i dont know what should i take when the time comes should i be an architec ?or something else?
p. s my talent is sketching/drawing
If you're more interested in the arts, I say go for art major. But if you like planning, constructing, and building buildings or any technical stuff, then go for architecture. Architecture does deal with design and creative elements, but it also deals with of lots of logical thinking, math, science as well. You have to be REAL passionate to have the stamina and endure the rigorous coursework. So if you know you're good in areas like that, architecture might be just right for you. I'm in my first semester of architecture. Not enjoying it one bit. I'm pretty good in drawing too so needless to say, I was pretty disillusioned going into Architecture. Figured art major is more suitable for me. Really think about what you really want to do and whether you're able to stick with it until the end.
We just finaished our level 3, 8 storey floor general hospital in 10 hectare lot last week. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. we were only given one month until the deliberation and we ended up being roasted by the jury. We only had 2 hours minimum and 4 hours maximum sleeping hours every single day not to mention the weeks near the deadline that had atleast 24 or 48 hours of no sleep. We barely even eat meals. It was a nightmare and of course this did not happen once.
#LifeofanArchitecturestudent
Flubber Gubber why is it so time consuming exactly?
@@harrygibbons9851 because you have to plan out several little details. Plus it's all hand modeling/or rendering which takes up a lot of times. And everything needs to be planned out percisely. And many factors can change aswell so you have to keep making changes to ur design
Thank you for the video! I filmed similar recently about my life in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 😀 so exciting to compare your and my videos ❤️😉
please i want this music
Please...title song of this video
Yes it is draining and brings sleepless nights but its about passion
Please tell me this course good or bad . My son is asking
Well in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different way and without fighting and by trying to make it clear, and by considering each and every one's opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say
Pinay?
What did I just read
Architect is so awesome but goodness I want to do everything so that's where I become stuck
Is the first year architect professor's teach how to make a design in computers and how to make a models
should be easy, it needs math snd lots of calculations
as a kid i dreamed of becoming an architect just like Zaha Hadid, i dreamed a lot :v :v & now i'm just a graduate computer science who doesn't have a regular job :p
Duuuuude ..i love that
How average salary for entry level? Thanks
What they said was partially true. You hardly have a full rest but in all we as arch students have to make it fun, or else you will end up making your studio your first home.
Does northeastern offer architectural engineering
architecture love ❤❤❤❤
It really does depends on where you study architecture :\ here they say it's a no sleep zone kind of thing, like you're not getting your ass in that bed of yours until you finished the project.
HOW YEARS DO WE HAVE TO STUDY ARCHITECTURE AT UNI.?
kakunzu ruke 5
Nice video, I have a question.... I want be a Interior Architect so I don't know if I can go Architecture School or I have to go a Interior Architect school ? Please Can someone help me.. Thank you
Jhonsx Buhorado yes
Go to architecture school or a school that has both Arch and ID. There are schools in the US that have Interior Arch, but an Arch degree with a minor in ID will generally hold more weight if you can't find that major.
You guys try to make shit sounds so complicated, I'm second guessing my decision of becoming an architect. Seriously
its challenging no doubt.... things get a little worst in the job sector...but is a passion based programme. for the bravehearted
Well it absolutely is. So no doubt you should make sure you really are driven otherwise you are just going to lose time, money and sooo much energy, just to quit somewhere along the way ^^ But if you really like it, it is one of the most fulfilling job in the world :)
ZelineZed
I'm not one to quit so loll
Peter Johnny Tenay but your second guessing your self ??
li pa fasil non, its very hard field. Hard part is finding a job.
my dream major
Hii I am from India I am willing to gk to architecture I just completed my +2
So this school is in Boston ?
yes
I want to become an architect
To study architecture u shud be really passionate
Yes, pursuing it as a career too.
wow !!!!!!!!!!!!
hey man i m very doof at drawing but i suck in math
what do you think can i have a future as an architect even if i m not good in math because you can t just draw something from imagination and build it .You need to calculate all those formulas if you want that house to stand up .so my answer is that is important math for an architect
Your Vloger Im going to tell you, if you have problems with math it's probably because you weren't taught correctly. try see math from other point of view. And yeah, they are kind of important in Architecture, but if you really want to be an Architect, it'll be easier.
Anaid Rojas Do you need to be a good drawer to be an Architect
David Torres no. I've researched this question a lot because I'm not good at drawing either and from asking architects I personally know they have all said no. Nowadays a lot of architecture planning is done on CAD and 3D printing. That's not to say you don't have to draw but being taught how to draw what you want using the right tools will make it a lot easier.
do you have to be good in math?
I almost failed Algebra 1 my freshman year of high school. I’m a senior now and I’m in a legitimate College Algebra class. I’m a whole grade ahead of what’s recommended. It might not be impressive to some people but I find it hard to believe that I was able to step up my game so much. I concluded that my brain was not ready for algebra, and I struggled in class because I couldn’t comprehend the curriculum. I don’t know your situation, but it’s 100% possible for you to get better at math if you really want it. Don’t let one little thing change your whole life. There are ample amounts of resources out there to help you improve. Good luck
Is it worth it and satisfying is my question? Can anyone say they are truly happy in this field? What is it like?
It's like sleeping for 3 hours a day
To me, someone who is not passionate about this major, going into it was dreadful. I was indecisive whether i want to go into architecture or not but now I know for sure it's not for me. From what I've seen, I think that most who are content with being in this field is highly passionate about it (sure thing). So their love for architecture is what really drive them to work harder and endure any challenges. You can be terrible at it but still push through and get better, that if you know for sure this is right for you. If not, you'd just end up treating the work load like a restless chore.
Good
It's fun but u need high passion :')
More like a commercial then "A Day in the life of.."
Do we need to Master Science Computer and drawing skills to become an architect ? I'm 13 years old, and I'm scared that it will be too hard for me
Ninja Warrior Architecture is about having a vision and shaping it into a beautiful story. I myself am studying architecture. school of architecture will teach you computer skills and sharpen your drawing skills and theres nothing to worry about if you are passionate about architecture :).
navyanav thanks, but how long does it need to be an architect?
Ninja Warrior143 5 yrs

Its a trap people... damn all these sweet talk i know deep down yall hate ur lives because i freakin doooo lmao
My realistic routine as an Architecture student is nap 5 hours in the afternoon, wake up around 8 pm. design, draw and cut cardboard till 5 am. wash my face. put on a jacket, shoes, ponytail ... and off to Uni for my 6 am classes....., yes. class starts at 6.00 a.m.
(repeat, every day of the week) *zombielife
Same here😢...but i luv this field...
Selena Schneider true
Estan bien perros con su nivel en planos, jajajaja 0:11
Is deciding for an architecture degree worth it nowadays?
yes
yes
dont choose architecture if its only based on interests, you need like 100% hardcore love and passion for it, otherwise you are not gonna make it through, true story
just don't even consider entering architecture school okay, you'll regret it
"Architecture is a useless course"
Hold my beer... And gimme my Tools...

Zannatul Nila decide at your own risk.. I'm currently a third year student in architecture and I assure you it's a living hell.
