This is amaxing software. Local Split screen needs to be brought back and this is a great effort!
it's hard to do that in next gen games, the pc needs to work for 2 different game windows, it would only work good on old gen games

@@dicesdw cuz story games were not so long and bad optimized and even back then consoles were struggling with split-screen don't forget halo coop with 25 fps

I got this working with up to 5 players on one pc. We did 4 player coop of the entire reach campaign with only one crash in the first level, and 4 player coop of the entire halo 3 campaign as well. We also did some matchmaking in reach, but not much. When I did this, each player had their own display. The next thing I want to try is 8 player matchmaking, each with their own display. I don't know that I can do that with any single computer that I have, but I have 2 computers that can each run 4. In the past I was able to get one instance to talk to another computer, so I could have something like 4 players on one computer, and 1 player on the other. Is there any way to get multiple players on different PCs playing together? I know this is probably beyond the scope of the intended use case for Nucleus, but I want to see how far this can be pushed.
What are your PC specs if I may ask?

If they’re on the same wi-fi, maybe you can with lan connection, but if you want it over long distances I don’t know if you can, but you can host the game on your computer with parsec. Also I know this is a late reply, sorry
I can't get the LAN Players to show up in the Roster so that I can actually join the two players. I switched from XBox Live to LAN on both screens and made sure the changes were saved by backing out of the settings and going back in. I turned off my firewall completely and restarted the coop but still had no luck. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I figured out the LAN issue I was having. In my case, it was my VPN. I turned off my VPN restarted Coop and bam, the LAN Players appeared and I could join player 1.

Good tutorial, the only thing I don't like about this program is it doesn't split the audio up, so either you have one person who has no audio, or you have sound doubled
Fuuuck I had hoped it would be fixed by now. That is a major deal breaker for me. Bummer
@@Poignant_Ritual Umm you can go to MCC audio settings and change the output for the devices. For example my PC speakers and TV both have audio but only the TV has music. Soo the sound doesn't overlap. Oh I get it. You mean split the audio on 1 device? Or?
@@rdejano3 Thanks for the reply, I ended up just turning off music for one screen, and found that the dual audio from the gameplay was not very distracting at all. Since the audio has different volume levels based on how close you are to different sources, it was only ever noticeable if we were basically right next to each other.
In MCC, you can also just turn down the music on one of them, instead of turning off all sounds
in normal local coop theres always double audio except for cutscenes so i dont find it distracting
Not sure I understand something : do you need TWO licenses/steam keys (one for each instance/player), or only one is enough for everybody ?

Yes you can, you set up how the split works and it will show multiple monitors to pick from if you have them instead of having to choose how to split one screen.
As I go to start the instances the first will open then I'll get a "proto instance error pop-up. Did I do something incorrectly? Is there a way to fix it?
Does this make the Campaign run like butter? (To elaborate, the campaign netcode is dogshit and lags even on good internet, Does running this on one PC mean that we will get actual good ping?)

cursed halo i was able to play co op with no issues with friends on seperate pc's so it shouldnt need this program unless you want split screen.

I get a cmd pop up that says waiting for 10s, does a countdown, then the first launched instance of Halo MCC crashes. My Nucleus doesn't look the same. It only has 2 options for the "Play" section.
I'm using two monitors and using monitor 1 as both instances.... Hopefully...
My Nucleus folder is on the root of J:. My Steam folder is J:\SteamLibrary\...
Is this something that HAS to be run off of C:? Does halo have to be in C and Nucleus can be somewhere else,
Or can Halo be in J: and Nucleus has to be in C:?

YO! If you're still around, the fix for me was to just NOT launch with online disabled. So you should see before you launch, Status, Enabled, and Disabled. Do not pick disabled, leave it on status. Worked for me. No clue why! Found someone else who shared it a year ago on reddit lol.

Probably a dumb question. But I host an annual halo LAN party with all of my high school and college friends. I’d love to be able to play on my pc with 1 other person while the rest are on Xbox. Would this work for that? And we’d both be on controller.

Found any yet?, trying to play halo 2 campaign here and getting crashes
I managed to get coop campaign and mods working on this. In halo reach there is big input lag on wireless Xbox controllers in high tense situations, and playing with keyboard works fine but mouse does not work. Mod I used was cursed halo and managed to get that working on local PC co-op 2 players (you have to use nexus mods version as steam workshop mods do not work at all).

For some reason either the joystick or the keyboard control both screens, also the screen ratio Is completel WRONG, any idea what i'm doing wrong?
You need to press the ‘End’ key on your keyboard once both screens have loaded. Also, you need to wait for a while until it sorts itself out. I need to wait a minute or two for it to load both, then I press the end key and that should sort it. Once you’ve finished press the end key again to unlock the keyboard

I tried this the other day. The game worked for a moment, then crashed, and now I get an error message, “Can’t sign into Xbox Live.” I’m playing this on Steam, now I gotta spend hours with technical support to address this. I don’t recommend this!
so what i need some help with is so be able to turn anti cheat off so i can play mods co op it just gives me base game so i tryeed putting in steam only open from anti cheat off and it just crashes and doesnt open on this splitscreen thing im trying to play cursed halo co op splitscreen

Everything launches fine for me but I can only control one instance at a time with one controller at a time any suggestions?

@@jay-1172 I've been messing with this for a few months off and on, and I still can't get this to work either. Both inputs control one screen at a time.
Literally just figured it out. Delete it, turn off all the anti-virus software then redownload it. It'll just work after that. Getting the "protoinput failed to runtime inject" error lets you know that the inputs aren't working.

How can I play split screen lan on different PCs? Players from one PC do not appear on the other.
It just keeps crashing whenever i load up a map. I followed all the steps but its just not working.

Yes you can. If you have two monitors selected, once you have the program set up, and controllers connected, you drag each to a portion of the screen where that player will be playing. Although, I was messy for me, I set it up horizontal split screen on one monitor first, then went into the game settings for each and changed it from there to be on seperate monitors.

this guy has outdated links in his description, dont use them. search nucleus coop and make sure you use the most recent download.

I'm not hugely knowledgeable about MCC but if it supports Multiplayer Campaign normally then it should work fine.

Hi, I'm struggling at the first part. When I try to download the handler and pinpoint the .exe in the binaries it doesn't show up. but if I goto the official files in file explorer it shows up?
Must go to MCC folder first, then binaries, win64, and it should be there.
How to control two screens/players at once with one Controller using DS4 ??
It works for pvp maps but as soon as I click on the campaign it crashes.

my antivirus thinks its a virus. same with google chrome. i suggest turning off any anti virus software
You don’t have to turn off your antivirus, if you’re using chrome you can select show all in the bottom right corner once the download is complete, and then force it to allow the download
With this program i can play on lan with my friends with project cars 2?
works well except when I use a gamepad it has an invisible cursor in the middle of the screen that blocks me from changing my options to set gamepad to preferred. stays even when I lock in my input with end

For some reason the instance for player #2 never comes up, and the first one always closes after 10 seconds :/ Also can only seem to get one controller to register but that's not nearly as big of an issue as compared to not actually being able to play co-op splitscreen. Any help would be much appreciated, would love to be able to play this with my younger brother.
If you’re using any ps4/ps5 (or switch) controllers, you have to use something called xoutput, also it takes a while to open the second instance so be patient, if your computer isn’t that good it might take longer, but idk what the issue is with the first instance closing

@@Kushien not sure if this helps, but for some reason when I tried playing with a friend only he could invite me (he was player 2) so my guess would just be to try relaunching the game to see if it does anything. If you and whoever your playing with all have microsoft accounts you can try playing online and then inviting each other how you normally would (to play online you can click the arrow next to play and change the second option, but im not sure if this works since i havent tried it)
@@wobblwav I got it working! For anyone reading, what helped me was 1. Having the Nucleus Co-op folder in C:
2. Having two screens
3. Running Nucleus as administrator
4. Having the Nucleus ''show status'' option on, so when the instances are loading I can see that it's working and what it's currently doing
5. Assigned mouse and keyboard to one instance on one screen, and the gamepad on the other
6. I turned off the ''unlock everything'' option in Nucleus but I enabled the online option.
7. I signed into the game with my xbox account on the first instance when prompted and made a second account for the second instance and did the same with that one
8. Once signed in on both and in the game menu, I went into the network settings and set them both to LAN as instructed by Nucleus (as well as mute the sound on the second instance)
9. I had to repeat steps 3-6 and even restart my computer, at this point I still couldn't invite one instance to the other's game session, however I might have only tried inviting instance #2 from instance #1, because I realized you said your friend had to invite you, so I gave it another try a few days later and I was able to invite instance #1 from instance #2 and voila! It worked! I don't know why but when I tried to invite #2 from #1 it didn't go through. Anyways, cheer's for the help, hope this helps someone in the future.

I had the same issue, I had to reinstall nucleus in the root folder C:/ but turn off my antivirus.
I kept getting this error before game launches "protoinput failed to runtime inject" but the that solution solved it. Hope this helps.

It doesn't recognise my controller (cheap controller and works in a lot of games using xbox 360ce)
use xoutput, it works for me with any controller and in my opinion is easier to use. it may just be little more unstable in low spec pcs
I got co op but how do we play with mods on steam u have to hit anti cheat mode but this is a start
You might be able to install the mods on steam regularly since anti-cheat is disabled on nucleus I believe

I achieved it, it simply depends on luck. For example, I got it perfectly, but only player 2 can join player 1, not viceversa. It's sightly annoying but it works perfectly fine. I'm honestly super happy.
