  • Not Your Typical VAN LIFE Day... Snow Almost Dies on a Mountain!
When Snow and Curt decided to bring you along for a Full Day of Van Life with them, they had no idea that it would not be a routine Van Life Day and, in fact, it would get a bit sketchy! But, they kept filming anyway, so you get to see the good and the bad side of being Full Time Van Life Travelers!

    Good job, Snow!! 🤗🤗
I’m a Nutritionist, I could recommend a few things to help with the knee?
I see others already mentioned a keto/controlled carbs diet... I’ll recommend a book you might like below about a diet aimed to reduce inflammation in the body. Easy to follow in Mexico with all the fresh food!
Epsom salts are good for your knee (and for your recirculating shower system, it helps the filters by precipitating the soap particles): if you have a tub in the Airbnb, fantastic! But otherwise you can prepare some in a bowl, soak up a sponge and make a nice hot compress wrapped in a scarf over your knee. If you can find it, magnesium spray is amazing. The 4 supplements I recommend for knee pain/inflammation are good doses of vit C (in grams), magnesium powder or capsules (bisglycinate form), fish oil, and turmeric extract (curcumin is the active ingredient).
You can find supplements in pharmacies in Mexico, in certain gyms, and the biggest towns even have Walmart’s. They have a GNC in San Cris! Also a few health stores like the tienda naturista Medialterna and Rednatura. The turmeric extract and magnesium should give you the biggest relief, and also help when you have a migraine.
Keep in mind that you can legally purchase CBD oil in Mexico! There’s different companies, like Purely CBD Mexico selling good extracts. I have a neck condition which can give me the mother of all migraines, the occipital neuralgia: sublingual CBD drops (Phoenix tears) is the miracle treatment to me! 🤗 supplementation and diet is all I need to manage my condition, without any medications. Hope any of this can prove helpful to you and keep you smiling on the journey 🥰🇲🇽🚐🐱🐱

Such great info... I am going to look into the termeric stuff now, that is something I have never tried! And the inside scoop on the CBD here in Mexico is helpful too! Thanks a ton for taking the time to write that out for us!

Wow watching this after finding it after your heart attack recovery it reads so differently than you originally met. You did probably almost die of a heart attack as you climbed a mountain while having blockages. Thank God you made it!! Scary to see you eat fried food afterwards as well.

Snow Snow Snow....you are a real trooper. First hint of an incline and I would have been hauling it back to the van. Curt was so sweet cheering you on. I was cheering you on. My knees were cheering you on. My back was cheering you on, and my walking stick was wishing it was there for you. And then after all that you had to endure a rainstorm, WE were treated to an exterior shot of the orchid building but no orchids, you got to meet up with van friends (what were the odds), and then you went and fell on a sidewalk in Mexico. Holy moly guys! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! LOL But in all seriousness, as always, I enjoyed following along on a day in the life of Snow and Curt. You guys always keep it real. Hope you’re feeling better by now Snow! #thankGodforibuprofen #andwine

Snow...just my experience and no judgement. I have a really bad knee and about 2 years ago, I cut back on carbs and now eat almost zero carbs. Something I never thought was possible, I now have zero pain in my knee. Range of motion is still non-existent, but the freedom from daily pain has been life changing for me. From time to time, I will give in and have some carbs/sugar and within 2 days, I can barely walk. I know people tout this way of eating for weight loss, and that’s all well and good, but I do it for the anti-inflammatory benefits. Love your guy’s videos...keep on trucking...I mean vanning. 🥰

Snow please don't hurt yourself. Ooh my goodness you were just having the worst luck that day. I hope you start to feel better... Get some tiger balm or some type of deep penetrating pain topical treatment. Also find a tub and soak and have Curt rub a massager or use his hands to rub out the soar parts. The footage that you did show was beautiful and still a great Snow and Curt classic video that we all love. You were such a trooper Snow now please rest up and get well soon.

Snow, I get it. I’m a Florida gal too. I can walk all day on a flat surface. The minute I get to a mountain, even a tiny incline, and I can’t handle it. I always go because I love it, but I always hold everyone up. I’m not in shape either, but altitude definitely is a factor. I’ll keep trekking when I can. I’m proud of you for going! Definitely get hiking poles. That does help.

Snow have you tried taking a Fish Oil supplement? This was life changing for me, one of the many things this helped with was my knee pain. It also helped improve my mood, lower my anxieties and just overall my entire body/joints feel better. This is the one supplement I was told everyone should take daily so I’m sure Kurt would benefit from it too! Also take it slow, overuse will set you back. Little walks daily then work up to longer and longer walks will definitely help too! Great video you guys!

If you weren't in search of adventure and serendipity, if you were content with the same-old, same-old, living your entire lives within a 25-mile radius, you 'd be in Florida, not Chiapas. Si?
Incredible that you crossed paths with Reto and Sandra. I haven't watched all of your earlier videos but I'm working on them, and I will get caught up. 5,000 miles from Oregon ... who could imagine you'd cross paths again?
You're probably too young to remember the Honda motorcycle ad campaign that featured the tagline: You meet the nicest people on a Honda. We should update that ... You meet the nicest people in a van.
My wish for you is to have many, many more extreme and chaotic days - just a little easier on the knees - I know about that - and without the Pop Tarts, please.
BTW, I pick up Lily on the 12th!

Snow, I'm so proud of you for hiking up that mountain! Most of my family members would have been able to do that hike, now that they have had knee replacements. Although, the lightening probably would have struck one of them with all that hardware in their new knees! LOL! I'd be sitting nice and dry in the van at the bottom of the mountain, waiting for their return. I'm next in line for a double knee replacement-one knee is bone on bone, and the other I tweaked and didn't take care of it properly. I'm in love with my knee braces, but wouldn't want to stress them out climbing a mountain (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to that HAHAHA!)

OMG that happened to me on a trip to Hawaii. Ten minute moderate hike they said. Ha! Up and down steep stairs huffing and puffing followed by scaling a rock face on a chain! How is that moderate?! So proud of you for hanging in. Golden milk would be great for your knee. Natural remedy for inflammation, and a host of other things. You may even have the ingredients on hand. Feel better!
    Golden Milk
1.5 c. milk (coconut, almond, whatever kind you like)
    1t. Coconut Oil
    1t. Turmeric
1T SF Maple Syrup (or honey or stevia use more than 1T if you like)
    1/4 t. ginger
1/4 t. Cardamom (or cinnamon or nutmeg)
    pinch black pepper
(essential as it activates the healing properties)
    pinch cayenne (optional)
Melt coconut oil in microwave. Add remaining ingredients. Stir. Heat until thoroughly warmed. (Do not boil) Use either a hand blender or shaker cup. Stir occasionally while drinking as it separates.
Taken before bed it will help you sleep.

Snow, I know you were (hopefully) kidding when you said you were going to take a lot of ibuprofen bc of your knee & butt pain. My husband overused ibuprofen for a knee infection & now lives on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant which is no easy wait; you have to jump thru loads of hoops to satisfy the transplant team/laws. So please be careful. Ice is great.
There’s also a product that you spray on sore places that acts like ice. I highly recommend as does my physical therapist. Have Curt spray it on your soar area(s) while you’re laying down so it doesn’t drip down from painful area. I got the roll on but they dry out so I prefer the spray. Amazon sells around $11USD. This just came across my YT feed. Hope you’re feeling btr. I need both knees replaced but you HAVE to be 40BMI or less to avoid post-op complications including rarely leg amputation from groin down.
Take care of yourself & that knee. Sorry you’re going thru this suffering; you’re a tough chica.
Moral of story: know exactly what lies ahead before taking on a hike (or anything). Goggle wouldn’t let me send name of product in this msg so use your imagination.
