The way I'm playing the game, I've figured that I engage enemies mostly on side aspect and since 9M is better on that department, I've been favouring it more too. R73 is great and you literally cannot flare it within 1.7km or so But Id take the ability to fire a bit earlier than that and still get results with 9M Also SMT's inability to hold onto it's energy is a huge blow off to a point I've literally gave up on it and went back to 9-13. I had more fun with it as I like to stay late game and dogfight people which SMT lack on
Here are some things from my experience: Gripen can easily flare most of r73 that was fired from like 500m rear or side aspect(Broken flare patterns? F5 level IR signature? IDK). That feels strange. The Su27 seem to struggle the most while flaring r73 and 9m. F15 can flare r73 from withing km in 1 circle fight(missile incoming top down). F16 and f14 are the easyest jets in US tec tree for the r73 to hit.
I doubt there's much point adding F-15A anymore; don't think it got flares, and still only uses sparrows; it would get clapped by F-16C. I think Gaijin were a little too eager
F-5C never got countermeasures either, but ingame it has them. Gaijin has plenty of options to fit the F-15A into the game as is. Not to say I am a fan of adding IRCCM missiles in the game right now though...
F-15A was refitted with flares later on (F-15A MSIP II) so they could use that excuse, or they could use the Israeli F-15A's flares as an excuse as well (same logic used to give F-104S flares when only the Turkish one used them in practice). Basically the flares won't be an issue for F-15A. The question in my mind is if they're gonna just skip to the F-15C with the rate their powercreep is going in the past year. I'm worried they will overdo the Su-27, but I fully expect both planes to smoke whatever it is we have now. All speculation of course
It's sad to see F14's fall off the meta so quickly after people decided that hugging Planet Earth was so convenient. I'd like to see more of them but I'm personally scared to fly one considering how many F16's there are
The problem is that people don't want to learn bvr, so they instead learn how to avoid letting it happen. The nice thing about the f14 is that when people do eventually decide to do bvr, the f14 will still be solid in bvr. The phoenix unfortunately won't be good until the meta starts to allow for people to climb to 10km alt, and that's largely a map size problem, by the time you make that climb the enemy is at wvr range.
Gaijin added the mist to avoid people hugging the ground, but instead of people learning how to notch and stuff they complain about how they cant hug the ground anymore
Apparently they're supposed to get something new at top tier with the next major update. According to a dev QnA I saw a little before this one came out.
Either we're getting AMRAAMs and ASRAAMs with the F.3 CSP or we're getting some other nation's top tier jet. I'm willing to bet it'll be the latter because even on the F.3 airframe AMRAAMs and ASRAAMs with the Foxhunter radar would be an arsecancer combo. @@KaguyasBeat
@@a_stone I HEAVILY doubt ASRAAMs. 9Ms and early R-73s are to ASRAAMs/ IRIS-T/ AIM-9X / modern R-73s what a 9J is to an 9M. Though I'm pretty sure that we will get Fox-3 missiles at last by the end of the year

AMRAAM's for the Tornado F.3, F-4F and AV-8B+, and give Russia a MiG-21UPG with R-77's and put them all at 12.3, would create a solid testing environment without too much effort while the garbage FM for the BR would prevent them from being completely game breaking

Do I get it right to defend from 9m you need to spam flares and turn instead of poping them 1 or 2 at the time like with previous missiles? Cause spamming in case of latter one made them only track better
@@MD-wn4ui That I know, I asked about how much you need to flare, cause before 9Ms you needed 1 or 2 pops to evade, but in video it's suggested that against 9M flares should be more spammed to confuse missile seeker even more.
@@MrBboy95 You need as many flares as necessary to change direction. With 9Ms you don't use flares to distract the missile, you're using flares to blind the missile. It's a bit like stealth games, especially Splinter Cell. Regular IR missiles are like enemies that aren't alerted, while 9M's are like enemies that already know where you are. With not alerted enemies you can throw a rock or two to distract them and make them go the other way, unless they see you while checking it out. With enemies "in combat" throwing rocks doesn't matter because they don't care. So use a flashbang to blind them instead. But if you blind them and stay in the same spot nothing will change, you have to blind them and move to a different place while they can't see you.
Obviously the way to balanced it makimg 30000000000000000x30000000000000000 maps and adding 64vs64. Qlso make the maps start appearing at 9.0 so ur sabre whit only .50cals can "enjoy it"

Theyre both fun. Barak 2 is probably better overall. Netz has the best flight model in the game and pythons are quite a bit faster than AIM-9Ls. Id say Barak is more meta, Netz is more interesting.
Yeah it’s probably just how you’re used to playing, took me a while to figure out how to F16 when I got the Netz, cuz I’d been flying the Kfir C7, and those two have completely different playstyles, you just have to play until you learn what works

Aim9M are really broken with its smokeless motor. It is very annoying to pay against in SIM or GRB. In SIM it gets even worse. When you get killed by a missile that you couldn`t see coming even thow you maintained visual on your opponent since the moment he launched it. NATO mains tend to say like it is skill issue on soviets part. Like they don`t know how to decoy 9m, don`t know how to flare and like cry about it, cope, get better. But in reality you can`t defend against something you couldn`t see coming even though youve been wathing in direciton it came from. Preflaring doesn`t work. Cuz it can hit you any moment. You don`t have enough pops of flare button to constantly defend. I belive in reality it its way more smoky then it is in War Thunder.
@@phantom4E2you get 2 long range missiles which can get you 1 kill, 2 if you are lucky then you still need to get close to fire remaining 4 r73. the biggest problem for me is the amount of missiles you need constantly to dodge which doesn't help when few turns make you go 500 km/h

F-16A's flight model is nice but it doesn't have sparrows like the AJ does nor does it have pythons like the Netz so I don't think there's much of a reason to play it if you own the F-16C. I'd go for the F-14s just because they're more unique.

You have to flare then turn. When the 9M detects a flare the seeker turns off then uses inertial guidance.

yak was never broken, it was always just a worse mig29. mig29 9-13 however was definitely overpowered
