Pine needles acidifying the soil has been even more thoroughly debunked than you mention.
Even coffee grounds don't acidify. The grounds and pine needles are acidic in their own, but the stuff they break down to is not.
One of my brother's has a very large yard that has lots of leaves. When he mows the grass he mows the leaves, then we go over and rake n take. Mixed and ready to compost! His yard is a "Gold Mine" for me😊💞💞💞
Isn’t the cardboard treated to make it bug proof and waterproof?
I wish i had the bagger for mower but i dont want to come up off the cash. I have an x350 my god your bagger cost as much as your mower. Manuel labor for me for now
Ha ha, me too. Sometimes I keep mowing into itself and rake up a bunch when I need the grass clippings. My neighbors are funny because I'll hear them say "Pauly Wally we have some greens for you." whenever they prune or whatever. I have a hard time collecting the bulk I need for compost.
@@cowboyblacksmith that's exactly how I do it. JD accessories are just about as wild priced as the mower itself
LOL. What's the big hurry. Love that opening.
Thank you for your sanity on this subject!!!
Good information. Thank you.
Is used chicken bedding considered a brown or a green? Thanks!
Its a green because its high in nitrogen.
Thanks for this video. Question if I use off spray on the grass for tithe mosquitoes is that really bad for my garden and compost?
Nice video, thanks. Those pine needles make a great mulch as well.
Pine needles do make excellent mulch, my favorite mulch to use. They let the water through and look nice too plus they don't break down too quickly so will last and they don't get moldy either.
Can I add manure and bedding from a small flock of 3 chickens?
Absolutely
Yep as long as its is composted down. Its good stuff.

My overwintered unfinished compost was stone cold until I added alfalfa pellets and in a few days it got up to 120° in late March in New England cold @ 40°. I need that pretty soon too for my Spring planting. My cabinet making wood-shop source of huge bags of sawdust moved so I can't get any more. Man sawdust makes excellent compost and a lot of wood workers have their collection systems that generate a lot of it. It's powdered carbon basically and breaks down amazingly quick.
Thanks for the tip on the alfalfa pellets!
I agree with all you said.

If you have used fertilizer on your lawn will it be ok to use the clippings after a couple of mowings?
Even if you use herbicides on the lawn I still use the clippings. The reason you need to keep applying weed killer and stuff is it breaks down over time. I figure by the time it's compost nothing is left.
If there is fertilizer left in the clippings odd l it'd be fine IMO. Just help it break down more browns even quicker
