My great grandfather was born in Campbell County, VA. grew up in Appomattox, Va. He was native Indian but would not discuss the tribe he came from. What Native American tribes were in that area?

I know Black-foot, on my maternal side and Cherokee on my paternal side.

My understanding of tribe locations in Va. are that Cherokee Indians lived in southwest Va. and Tennessee. I believe my great-grandfather was born in Leesville, Va. My maternal grandmother's mother was born in Amherst County, so it's possible that they are Monacan also. @@carlatawilliams2656
