Why Twitch for live streams? 1) Less pressure there for trying things, improvising. It seems like some expect a full performance from me on YT when sometimes I really just want to try stuff, test stuff and generally mess about with ideas. I've seen people post elsewhere and criticise me/my channel for not doing proper shows/sets on YT like other more organised artists do and there are those that dislike my improvisations, even though they're very important for me to practice and for improving and growing as a musician. The reality of that is, I'm not so organised but also my setup and Bitwig Studio don't quite support a full show of different tracks (talking about mostly hardware synths here) in a smooth, seamless way without a ton of headaches. 2) Less clutter on my UA-cam channel. Live streams all go into the Live tab on my YT channel now anyway, but I'd like to reduce a lot of that. To me it's just a lot of 2-3 hour improvisations that are lower quality than proper produced videos and a lot of 'meh' ideas that I don't care to ever release. Again, Twitch just suits this kind of content better I feel, and the videos will vanish after 14 days. 3) Regular live streams on YT is hurting my YT income and channel growth. I think this might be due to; a) My live streams aren't as visible as my normal content videos. b) Live streams aren't good monetization. A 3 hour stream with just two ads, at the beginning and end (I refuse to use mid-roll ads) equals very few ad views, especially as live streams only get a fraction of full plays. So if I do a lot of these and eat into my time for making regular videos, and my channel suffers. (YT pays the majority of my bills, I can't ignore it.) In the event I do come up with something decent during Twitch that I think is worth keeping (like this one) I can cut the highlight and stick it on UA-cam. Content for UA-cam won't stop.
Hey mate, thanks for breaking this down and explaining the reasoning behind switching to Twitch for live streams. I wasn't aware of all the dynamics at play here, so super useful to have the context. Completely understand it!
That's interesting to hear. Nice to carve out a space that's the right place for experimentation. Twitch does seem to be more of a community for exploring the creative process rather than having the finished product. That said, this clip sounds like a finished product to me!
That’s the reason why a lot of UA-camrs create a second channel, to mess about with without it affecting the main channel. Of course, Twitch is great as well for that purpose.
I personally am slightly saddened by this development, since one of my favorite streams by you was one of these experiments that probably would have not "made the cut" here to YT. ("Hardware/Analog Synth Stream, and why the Pro3 is shockingly good") That said, I fully respect and understand your decision, and am looking forward to seeing more content from you going ahead. Footnote, freaking awesome stream here!
You are streaming so many beautiful, long, free floating, hypnotizing tracks! It would be great if you release some (that are not part of your albums) under Creative Commons!
Thanks! There's a few from past streams that will make the next album or EP. It's a good idea about the CC for some of the other streams though, the downside for me is the time it'll take to listen over those again to find what I can release/is free from audio errors OR I can just forget about these and do what I intended to do and that's to create a much higher quality production release of electronic music specifically for CC (it's already WIP).
@@stateazure Thank you so much for your answer and for your efforts and most of all for the great music! Love the two CC releases you already have on Bandcamp!
There is not need a spaceship! Just play State Azure tracks and you are already somewhere there where a big bang wave faces the border of spacetime reality. Thank you for the Cosmos mate!

Incredible mix, truly 5 star space dust output...thank you - MORE like this set up please. I have many people visit my studio and they all remark on this track - Who is this Master?
what an amazing way to live and work. Truly incredible work, who would have thought electronic music all started with a simple voltage controlled oscillator, a clipper, a sawtooth generator and some filter combinations... whats great is that anyone who wants to get interested in electronics is that you can still retro design something for yourself whilst there are a lot of good analogue discreet components still on the market, if you like to reinvent the wheel.
I would be very interested in a detailed summary of your setup. Do you have a breakdown anywhere? The number of controllers you have far exceeds my modest collection but I still seem to have USB bottlenecks even though I have 6 internal USB cards and 2 powered outboard hubs. What are you using for your audio interface? Your computer? Is your desk custom made? What is your musical background? Your compositions are amazing - how well they flow!
I've listed almost everything in the description. I think I'm only using about 5 synths in total on USB and I'll probably lessen that in time due to how utter shit USB is and all the problems that come along with it. The rest of the synths are connected via MIDI into a MOTU Express 128 interface - it just works, no USB hassles. Desk is by StudioDesk (Commander v1 - no longer made), interface is an RME UFX II + Pulse16 ADAT. Computer specs in the description. I'm not sure I've ever really gone into great detail about my musical background, though bio is easy to find and gives a basic overview I think. Glad you enjoy the music!

Yes, I keep my H90 on my side desk for smaller improv/performances or demo videos. I posted in the community page about why I switched, but I'll put a more detailed pinned message on this video soon.
Do you have an equipment list? I think I saw you had a Hydrasynth, and so do I. I'd love to see it or an OB-6 featured if you have one. Awesome video. 😎
Thanks! Gear list is in the description, it needs updated a little but it's almost there. I don't own the OB-6 and probably never will. I do own the Prophet 10, Prophet 12 and Pro 3! Maybe in the future an OB-X8 (thinking about it..)
Very, very, very nice music! Great for relaxing after a day at work! Please make this track 6-8 hours long if possible. I thank the author of the track!
There's simply no pleasing some people in this format. If it prevents you from exploring your craft, and the love of it, then by all means stream on other platforms, you'll always find support from those who enjoy your music. It is incredible, unfortunately, how even a single negative comment can impact content creators.
I get negative shit here now and again, and other places, most of the time it doesn't bother me and I'm aware that sometimes my videos probably get recommended to the wrong people. UA-cam is the worst, because the videos out there for all the public to see and scrutinize. Twitch is a bit more exclusive and somewhat avoids the mass of idiots that aren't even interested in this music or the videos. I do feel sorry for creators with thinner skins just starting to get popular who will start to attract a wider audience which unfortunately includes hateful, jealous and mean spirited, smooth brained numpties.
@@alexandergecko Wonderful... I have a "real" keyboard now and am learning and it can do MIDI so I want to see what's next... I did this 15 years ago and it was totally different. Thanks!
In the meantime, can someone help me understand what he's doing... It looks like six loops at different time scales running along with the live track? wow.
Not much, but then I never did really. I'm more of a mouse and keyboard guy, but the Push will maybe get used more once I figure out how do actually perform a set, or if I decide to switch to Ableton for that. Having to return to the keyboard/mouse every time I want to start/stop looping and do adjustments isn't really a great way of working atm.
No it's in my studio actually, you just can't see it :) I'm not sure if I'll keep it though just due to not having the time to really use it all that much, and there's no room to fully integrate it into my setup here. Where do I put it? I have 3/4 synths now that just lean against a wall unused. If I had a larger studio, I would probably have one more synth stand
