Transforming South African Wood into an Orange Urn
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- Woodturning an extraordinary vibrant orange urn out of some South African wood called Braai Wood. Logs has been cut on the bandsaw and formed around a shape before it was casted into deep pour epoxy resin and turned on my woodturning lathe for the desired shape. Used brass threaded inserts for the lid and finished with several layers of clear gloss lacquer.

South African here..... Just for clarity, "braai wood" is just a term referring to its function. Wood used for a braai (barbeque), basically "fire wood". The type of wood looks more likely to be "ysterhoud" or iron wood. Often used for braais because it gives long lasting coals.
Nice urn!

Net toe ek dink braaihout kan nie beter lyk as in 'n vuur nie. Wel gedaan!
I live in Sweden, and I have turned a couple of urns. These are quite strict provisions for urns in Sweden. I.a. it must be made from materials that can decompose within ten years. (Applies to an urn for burial)
Are there no such provisions in the UK?
Or is this urn not for burial?
This was sent to US however I am not aware of this issue but I will look into it
А для чего она сделана, какое применение?
💯💥👌💫👏
Thank you 🙂
Во-первых, где модная экологическая повесточка? Во-вторых, нам показали красивую картинку, а сколько было проб и ошибок?
What finish did you use?
clear gloss lacquer
It’s very nice but why an urn that’s kind of morbid and dark for a woodturning video 😂
