Sturgeon are very cool fish, I've had 2 in my pond for 2 years now. I lost one on a really hot day a few years back, since then I've added more shade and additional aeration, so all is well now. From my experience its when the water temp goes above 25-26C they struggle but thats a very rare occurrence in the UK.
I released one of these into a local Reservoir 20 years ago, it was already a fair size. I often wondered whether any local fishermen got the catch of their lives. As they get so big...
Hi Mike, They need plenty of oxygen and they don't like thunder storm I have kept them in the past and lost them to thunder storm because storm srip the oxygen out of the water mate. Steve
Love his new fish purchase.. ideally kept in pairs. Good excuse to get another one.
I love sturgeons! they look like a shark and eat like a ray , what more can you ask for!
