- www.ted.com Massimo Banzi helped invent the Arduino, a tiny, easy-to-use open-source microcontroller that's inspired thousands of people around the world to make the coolest things they can imagine -- from toys to satellite gear. Because, as he says, "You don't need anyone's permission to make something great."

Getting an Arduino board for my son. He is only 8 months old but dad needs to learn this first. :)
Ha Haa
A Very Smart Man :)
Where should I start? Beginner
Arduino should be a mandatory class in Elementary school (Ages 7 - 10) worldwide. The world would change in less than a decade.
Learning c++ becomes so much fun and easy
It is available in our school, In INDIA. by govenment
there aren't enough people who can teach it
I agree totally. The world would be a better place.
People would be more engineering minded and not mindless as they are these days
There're already such schools in Moscow.
That's the great thing about open source. It allows the whole humanity to build on everything that's already build and it accumulates fast. And it still puts money on the move because bigger projects need infrastructure, energy, materials and workforce, and the creative workforce is effectively grown from the open source community itself.
Honestly, this has opened my mind to understand that the possibilities of amazing things are limited to ourselves. I knew that there were so many inventors, but I never truly understood how they could invent awesome equipment till now. Such an inspirational talk!
me too
What a time to be alive!
+Johnny Wiet Wolny ... totally dude, and this is from 2012!
+Johnny Wiet Wolny You and yours versus me and mine
Dude, when I seen what the Arduino could do, and I had ZERO code writing skills or electronics. I jumped in and spent tons and tons of time reading, testing, expanding, testing, writing, buying new sensors. It's an awesome time to be alive! And I'm 50 years old! Very cool and awesome time in electronics!
Hold on to your papers.
True that my friend
Arduino was the first step of me becoming and embedded software engineer you have no idea how much I appreciate Arduino
Excelent!!! Thanks Massimo, Davids, Tom, Gianluca and all colaborators of Arduino for making this great tool!!!
7:17 BEST INVENTION EVER! Matt Richardson is an epic genius!
Quarter of the way through.. I have chills. This is awesome, count me in.
This is the greatest thing I have seen for a long time!
Yep the Arduino is the coolest thing of all time--and for all ages.
arduinohistory.github.io/ and like many cool things is essentially taken without permission
First is the capitalism, then the Arduino
@@santiagolerin Nope
Arduino magic. Thank you for changing the world.
Arduino is fucking awesome!!!
Fucking A!
outstanding talk. I had heard of Arduino before, also make-scene and open source hardware, but the talk did put it all together nicely, with a sense of humor, and a lot of excitment.
Thank you :-)
Thank you Mr Banzi, I love my Arduino's and the fun things I get to build with them.
Fantastic project, I saw this talk and in a week got my Arduino in Costa Rica and I am having a great time and plan to have a shared project with my son. I have not been as excited about a project than I am about this in years
All I can say: thank you for Arduino!
It is like giving someone fishing skills instead of giving them that proverbial fish.
Before I would've insisted on copyrighting my half developed work,
but now I can share my idea and get thousands of ideas back: one better than the other.
I hold progress much more valuable than profit.
Mine comes tomorrow!!! SO EXCITED!
I went out and bought an arduino a couple of days ago and it's the best $35 that I've ever spent. I've learned more about electrical engineering in the past two days than ever before. Just tinkering with the thing, learning what works and what doesn't is so fulfilling, seriously! I can't wait to get a project made so I can share it.
So exciting. Wish I started working with it back in 2012...
i am a proud class 8 arduino-er... it is so easy and cool ... i graduated from html from software side and lego mindstorm from hardware side....
you should provide links to all the projects mentioned in the description.
Such a funny worthwhile talk, peppered with amazing projects.
just today got audrino..... already loving it..... would love to work on it ;)
I've just got my starter kit today. I'm so excited!
Palestra Ma-ra-vi-lho-sa!!!
Obrigada! =D
I agree. Well said.
Is it wrong that this makes my eyes water? It's just so damn beautiful!
I am a great fan of Arduino and I really love creating big and small automation projects
Arduino is awesome and so much fun to use
the beauty of this made me cry..
Beautiful project.
I finally started with Arduino after Maker Faire at NYC just a few weeks ago.
8:58 a machine that understands ASL!! omg wow! 30 years in the making....
its crazy how much they have grown
Now that is a discussion involving publishing "companies", copyright laws, moneyed interests etc etc.
13:40 so cool when you think about it was just a breadboard-/hobby project and then they cleaned it up and are in business with their idea.
All you need is the Atmel chip (because the board is just for prototyping) and create a “stand alone” Arduino and bring the cost to 5€ instead of 25€.
Thank youuuuu Mr, Banzi
I don't know why but Italians seem to be able to make jokes from nothing. They just have it and I don't know why we don't see more of them in standup.
Either way, I love playing with my Arduino. Learning lots of stuff
I saw this on my phone this morning. Really inspirational!!!!! =]
Every point he has said is so much interesting and very innovative...i could say Just Awesome :)
My father once told me “once you have the tools, everything is possible”
Wonderful presentation. New world of purpose is opened through this. Love to participate in the discussion and share ideas with all of you. Currently I am working on a small Humanoid using Raspberry pi to give company to aged people when they are alone and finally convert the same as a helping hand in the family. May be arduino is a better choice.
so true! great comment
if started on a school project in december that finished one week ago. we used an arduino to make a toy for children that suffered from pitt hopikns syndrome. arduino's are awesome, trust me
C'è ancora un'Italia che eccelle. Bravo Massimo!
Ce ancora un de Massimo, ill fait Basimoo.
Thank you Open Source Project, they give the world be a good place to live.
Fantastic new world!
oh my god this is amazing!
and that's why we have to support the open source community. knowledge is the only thing that multiplies if you share it :)
Canal Muito Mais! me trouxe aqui pela curiosidade do Arduino.
Ingenious. This is the future, folks.
A wonderful project!!
thanks from gss tehran team ;)
Massimo Banzi Good Man.
My argument--the current "social movement" is themed by communication and sharing our perceptions of the world; lately I've gotten more songs and art than anything else, stuff that's meaningful and special to the individual; they're beginning to show their true colours.
Guys, they fixed the audio levels in the intro, so you don't need to skip to 0:15 anymore.
When I'm in Highschool, I join the Science Club. And one day the Club President bring his arduino and start teaching us. When he graduated and I take over as Club President. I'm making it mandatory for the club to teach Arduino and have all the tools necessary . Now I'm also graduate from Highschool and enter University and majoring in Electrical Engineering. Arduino change my life and I'm really grateful for it.
hi thats something similar to what i wanna do as a project but mine would lock the computer when it detects a person within a certin proximity(to prevent shoulder surfing)
Charlie Sheen didn't look too annoyed at being muted! 10:02
turn CC on and go to 08:03 uhhhh
Can we use Arduino in Industrial plant?
11:04 went there, checked it out, & Last updated 10 months ago .. You are Not allowed to know
Can't wait till my Arduino arrives! :)
Mind-blowing
Have fun! I got mine for Christmas. My current project is a device that locks my computer when I get up (sensed using an ultrasonic ranger) by pretending to be a keyboard and sending "super-L".
Thanks For Arduino!!!!!
wow. I didn't even know this existed until now.
I am big fan of arduino. I have used for many projects in my professional career.
I love how he says Arduino
Fascinating!
cool, I'm going to make a quadcopter and do the flight stabilization myself!
Such amazing session, can't believe there are still people who can actually give thumbs down for this.
Proud to be Italian :)
very nice arduino
l really like this man!
This is fucking awesome! I'm going to learn code and contribute to as many of these Open Sources as I can
Very inspirational. :-)
This is fucking amazing. I'm taking computer engineering in the fall and I absolutely must have this toy.
thank you and best wishes ... salute _\
Arduino is also awesome because it is open source so you can get Arduino boards and other components for cheaper than Arduino sells them
Not like the CC isn't fucked up throughout the video's entirety...
8051 is awesome :))
I love this guy
Peer reviewed publications are not in opposition to what Arduino is doing. I am a researcher and I work with open source hardware designs. I also publish and I think there is no reason any peer reviewed publications forums would dislike ideas like this.
His accent is awesome :)
italian
Alguien tiene Introducción a Arduino Edición 2016, de Massimo Banzi?
I luuuvveee his accent :)
Awesome!
Viva Chile !
Awesome !!
Loved it :)
Finally after 20 yrs of knowing something wasn't right I was diagnosed with bipolarII disorder. The shoe metaphor was right on the money.
Thank you for Arduino. All i know about electronics, i know because of Arduino.
greed is not the problem corruption is. Open source will not eliminate any greed, people will always be greedy but it will eliminate corruption.
Italian project ....but Moody's doesn't like Italy
This is a joke, right?
Kto ze strategii łapka w górę :D
No way, I farted the exact moment he mentioned the chair that tweets farts!!!!
Lol
I understand that. My point is, some people can't afford even that. I'd love to build one of those 3D printers, even if just for the fun of building it, but I can't afford the parts. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself. ;-(
God bless you Massimo. Since changing to Arduino from PIC, Pi, Launchpad etc. I've learnt more and DONE more in two months, than two years with the other platforms, what a breath of fresh air and freedom to learn and explore, I think you will inspire 1000's of youngsters into this industry, Bravo - Long live Arduino!
10 years after this is becoming a reality for me. Thanks bro.
