James Clavell was financially educated he had a very good grasp of financial education and successful companies in Hong Kong as examples to be modeled after by future entrepreneurs. In the book it explains them all the lessons and mistakes made by Struan and Gornt in a literary style from time to time that makes it always compelling and exciting entwined with romance and many plots running separately.
I never tire of watching John Rhys-Davies.. fell in love with him when he was the Portuguese navigator in Shogun and here he is again as a corporate pirate!

Outstanding read. Read it in the early 80's. Just finished rereading it. Just as good the second time around.
