Commenting before watching, I remember building part of this set for Matt in the workshop and hopefully the review is good! The disc weight in the back can be altered from 2g to 20g depending on requested swingweight just in case anyone was wondering
Can the weight only be removed by PXG staff?
@@Evan_Rodgers It is put in after weighting with loctite threadlocker so technically no, however you need a different wrench from the standard woods and you’d need to heat it up a lot too, we don’t recommend trying to remove after purchase
@@Evan_Rodgers dont do that i have this combo set just play with the weight or don't buy them they are engineered to have the CG there otherwise you have no CG my 2 cents they are great by the way
PXG has often gone with a slightly larger head in their blades. I have the 0211 STs and they're perfect for me as a 4 handicap - larger profile than a traditional blade, a bit more bounce, and stronger lofts (32º seven iron and 44º PW). There's a surprising amount of help on off-center hits and they have a nice balance in feel between solid and soft. Pure strikes are a dream. Slight toe hits feel solid but perform much the same as a middle strike. Plus they look fantastic - no weights, just a clean back design
Of all the golf irons on the market today, i would love to try these out...
I've never owned a PXG club but I have to admit those are good looking irons.
They sure are! 💪 ^Sam
really tempted by a set of CB's but £42 per club upcharge for shafts and £18 per club for a multi compound grip is just insane but it only seems the UK/Europe gets charged so much for upgrades as it is way cheaper to order through the USA site, would love to hear the reasoning from them on that.
Got fitted for PXG (Coalville) this afternoon. Best fitting I’ve ever had, & GEN 6 feel awesome. I’m only a little10 stone & 5ft6” ended up with half inch long, 2 degree flat, midsize grip & extra stiff, who would have known. Tom went through all the options, well worth👍👍👍👍👍
Good range that
We love to hear it! Would you mind if we used your quote as part of our marketing efforts? Thanks ^Sam
@@pxg absolutely you can, they arrived this morning @10 o’clock I’ve just got back from playing my first round with them, amazing clubs love them to bits! Feel is incredible. I’ll be speaking to Tom about getting the gap wedge too just so guys know… I went online Tuesday night, booked a fitting for Wednesday afternoon, got my order confirmation Thursday Morning then delivered this morning from thinking about trying your irons to receiving fully fitted clubs 3 days later is world class 👍👍😁👍
I’ve a full set of gen5 0317 irons, and gen6 woods. They are bloody marvellous
I have the driver to review I’m looking forward to it
Awesome to hear! 💪 ^Sam
ive had every make of club going as i like to chop and change ..0211 pxg dual core are the best ive ever had. i ought the 0211 23 model driver but it was nowhere near my sim2 or ts1 so sold it for a £50 loss after a few rounds which is ok.
Loving it!
Matt, I bought a used set of the PXG SGI’s maybe 5 months or so ago and rotate them into my bag every 3-4 rounds. Fantastic club makers!
Nice, I’ve not used those before but bet they are decent
Well done matt 👏
I purchased A O211 driver gen 4 7 wood and 25 degree . The driver broke 3 times , 2 shafts and a carbon crown came off. They where great with free replacement , it has been replaced by titleist TSR2 …. But my hybrid and 7 wood are pretty beat up….but I love them …. I think the cost is $200 an iron with graphite … his same shaft is spendy
I got back and forth between this combo set and my Hogan Icon blades from 2020 the Hogans sound like tour players on tv muted sizzle off the face i have to redo some things with these 0317 they are not not factory standard lengths and i need thicker grips
I was fit for a set of the CB’s, very nice clubs but ultimately I bought a set of Ping I230’s.
I would have liked to see you review a more forgiving model. Not many people have the game to play the CB or ST.
I blend them 7 down ST 4-6 CB only been playing a year and strike them fine weekend golfers will never get better gotta squeeze in rounds all season!
Matt where is part 2 of the golf challenge whir mr finch we was told it would be uploaded today?
Logo reminds me of the words that used to pop up on tv when Batman had a fight in the early 80’s POW …… BAM ….. WHACK!! 😂🤣😂
Haha can’t get that out of my head now 😂
Top comment 😂
@@Mattfryergolf glad to give a bit back. Keep up the great work Matt 👌
@@Daniel189HLL cheers 👍
PXG are one of the only manufacturers that will make sure you’re getting the correct swing weight. Most other big manufacturers can’t be bothered
Not sure on that, I’ve been to a fair few and they have done that as part of the fitting.
@@Mattfryergolf I’m sure if you’re fitted at a tour truck, or let’s say bear wood lakes, then yes, but if you get fitted by a local pro or demo day, they don’t want to know
If you buy a set of Mizuno irons you always get the exact swing weight through the hole set also if you take them 0.5 longer or shorter. You also get at every premium japanese iron set exact weights, for exampled with Miura clubs. My nearly 30 year old honma blades were in absolut high level quality standard, the swing weight through the complete set from 2 iron (like a butter knife and i still stick it!) to wedge there were less than 1/10 gramm tolerance in weight... I think a quality Titleist set also is correct as many other brands too....
I think this pxg look awful for a forged bladed iron - maybe good behind the ball what i can't see. Cheers!
@@Mattfryergolf Your going to premium fittings my guy most people get pushed towards bs i've asked all these questions and they give you answers like "nah i'm not gonna mess with that your striking them well" even tho you feel a toe or heel miss, fittings are bullshit! only reason to go is to try new stuff and order what you liked from fitting not their spec sheet
You’ve not had a Ping fitting then! Ping still setting standards!
Titleist T200 4-5 & T150 7-G. Simplify your life. Sold my 223, T100S, kept my Wilson CB tho 8620 butter. alot the guys I play with use the PXG, but i'm just not a fan.
Try the gen 5
We always have potential new irons, that’s not the question. Inesis 900 have more potential though.
I think they're typically about $240 US/iron with standard setup. Goes up from there.
Those cb/st start at 169.99 a club US!
Should be around 1430 USD. These irons look great for a PXG club.
Your sponsored by Mizuno no? So no chance of these going in the bag?
Have heard a lot about pxg. But are they really worth the money?
The fitting process alone is worth trying if nothing else
I guess depends on personal perception and personal budget
Do you think they preformed up to a titlest? Because either titleist or Mizuno are at the top of the iron game and they are at that price point so are they on the same level?
@@TheTimmyturner7 I played Mizuno for 20 years and play PXG now. These CBs match up well vs Mizuno JPX Tour.
The magic for me with PXG has been the "T" model. 90% of the feel of the Mizuno blades I'm not good enough to play anymore, but easily 50% more forgiving. I hated my MP-20 HMBs, which is what I tried when I got too old for my MP-32s & MP-64s. The PXGs are perfect for me.
That being said, I'd be happy playing at least half a dozen sets on the market from various manufacturers. There's never been more good equipment out there. Try them all!
The XG in the PXG name stands for EXTREME GOLF. So this company is always going to slam it in your face. Including the logo on the back of the club. I do have the 0311 driver, and I like it.
We love that you love your driver! 💪 Thanks for being part of the community! ^Sam
The higher handicapper are the one that will pay that much..... They will always pay too much for the most expensive club than they will pay for the lesson. It not always the club or the one that street the club... I'm a single digest I play the cheap Cleveland Cg16 iron.. I still got further and straight than most guys with their latest expensive club.... Take a lesson is the key for everything...
Matt, please try the Tour Edge 723 Pro irons. They will surprise you in a very good way
American Mizunos
They look mint, ive read that they some come off hot every now and then
This is a solid forged cavity back. You're not going to get fliers.
No, that's the prior to versions these are replacing. That's exactly why they painstakingly made these. Some of the best on the market finally
Not bad looking though I agree the logo is rather glaring.
Still way out of my price range...
Yeah a good looking thing, the cb’s especially
Good review but I will keep my Cleveland Halo XL irons.
They finally ditched all those stupid looking screws
£1099 5-pw?
Just watched 2 other reviews and both stated these arexas soft as anything they tested, maybe just stick to Mizuno Matt!
In a sense, PXG is a club component provider, because of the selection of clubheads, shafts and grips that they offer. So it's a shame to me that (other) regular golf component outlets get no coverage, no mention, no reviews, no nothing. Especially since they offer clubhead designs that are high quality and not "clones" of other brands. Not a knock on PXG, but I'm just sayin".........
Hey, we aren't a 'club component' provider. We are an OEM that specialises in delivering the best fitting experience alongside equipment that performs like nothing else. 👍 ^Sam
Great clubs and tech but yes the looks I can’t get past….its like someone with bad taste designed the logo and back of the club. So gaudy
You’re not good enough for these, cmon 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry Matt, those irons are butt ugly
PXG - Overrated and over priced
I bought the 0211 7 wood with HZRDUS 70 stiff shaft- £189, absolute cheat stick- recommended 👌
I was in the same camp until I tried the 0211 and they are just so soft and feel so right so needless to say I'm a fan now.
