Lisbon seems a marvelous place. Also thanks for your honesty and objectively saying what works and what doesn't, what is good and what isn't. A lot of youtubers don't and that is really annoying. I once urged my wife to go to a certain City in Italy as it was recommed by a couple on UA-cam. It turned out to be nothing special. You can imagine the earful I got from my wife. Then I watched their stuff again and realized that all the places they had gone to had always been "the best ever". As a result I stipped watching them, as I could not rely on the validity of the information they were putting out.

I feel the same way. Honestly we started this UA-cam channel for that exact same reason. We were backpacking in Japan many years ago and went very very far out of our way to go somewhere. When we arrived we realised just how much had been glossed over by the UA-camr, making the trip very difficult. Travel UA-cam and the travel industry in general bothers me a lot. So much of it does not keep the audience in mind, the audience is being used and not helped. I want to do better than that…..so it’s no surprise we grow so much slower than everyone else.

Thank you for being honest about the places. Lots of videos are not

@Near From Home I'll be stuck in Lisbon for 17 hours with my family (wife and 2 kids).
Any thoughts on things/places that might interest 5 and 7 years-olds?

@@Yaw_Jr hmmm.Off the top of my head, I think the castle might be your best bet.

You two are awesome and thanks for the honest review!!! I'm planning a trip that has a 21-hour layover (in at 8pm from Italy before departing 5pm the next day) this summer, on our way back to the USA. It'll be my family of 4 (with two younger teenagers) and we'll grab a hotel somewhere in the city center the night we land. We'll likely take your recommendations of NOT-TRAM 28 to the castle, hit the high streets, and add a few look-out points before heading back to the airport. Any advice on how soon we should be back at the airport before taking off back to the US?

Awesome. I think checking out the castle and the high streets is a reasonable amount of stuff to get done on this layover.
I don't remember much about the Lisbon airport, so I can really only give you the 'arrive two hours before your international flight departs' advice.

Ah they were lovey no matter where we went for them. As for my favorite place to go for them though? I’m not sure. The place in Belem was no doubt fantastic, but I’d have rather had two back in the high streets for the fuss it was to go out there :)
