    Hey Sarge. I don't think I've ever commented on your videos before today, but wanted to let you know I finally built my first real amazing dynasty over the last few days in OOTP23 since OOTP19. There has been so much development that I fell behind on and was too lazy to read up on and just enjoyed the challenges.
    Your videos are to thank for my amazing fun over the last few days, so wanted to give you a shout out and say thanks! I was looking in all the wrong places and you got me back on track.
    Please keep making these videos and let us know any way we can support you.

      @@JHS7 Sorry I've not been checking UA-cam comments for awhile. I don't play much OOTP GO. I do have it on my phone and bought the updated rosters, but I find myself gravitating back to the laptop. Sorry I can't help out much on this one. Wish you luck buddy! I'll update this if I jump in the mobile platform in coming weeks.

    Love your vids... do you have any tips on how to improve the records of lower milb teams? Everything below AA seems to always have a .300 record for me.
    Does milb team record negatively impact development?

    I am in a league where actual ratings are hidden but we are shown their potential rating. We have to evaluate talent based on our scout's ability, the player's stats, and the current and potential star ratings relative to each league level. Any pointers you can give me for this scenario?

    Hey sarge, love your content. Playing ootp23 and I'm noticing my scouting devolopment updates constantly showing me minus signs. I have a bad scout, but I feel like I have the best coaching available for me in this run. Have you noticed any differences from the previous games based on developments? Should I prioritize developing mechanics, or teach hit/pit more? Thanks again for your great content

    Hey Sarge! Can we expect new videos for 24? Any updates you'd suggest?
    I'm implementing a lot of the same strats as 23 and if I don't see videos from you in a few weeks I'll create some and let folks know how it goes.
    Hope you're enjoying the beta either way.
    Thanks again my friend!

      Hello! Yes, you can expect new videos for 24. I plan to release at least 1/2 videos some time this weekend and keep a somewhat regular content schedule going forwards.
      That said, if you think you've got something to offer the community that isn't out there right now and you'd like to create videos, by all means go for it. It's absolutely impossible for me to create enough content to cover everything (I'd estimate even back in 22 when I was releasing regularly, I hit maybe about 25% of the things I wanted to, and that's not even counting stuff I haven't thought of). Let me know if there's anything I can do to support you!

    Question: How badly does demoting a player to AAA affect their ability? I run into a logjam at times where I've developed too much talent, I'm not prepared to trade it away as they're younger players, but temporarily sending a talent down (let's say a Potential 60 for shorthand) to AAA results in a reduction of their growth potential. This has happened to me several times and I don't think it was a function of the staff or lack of playing time. AAA in general seems to hold a lot of average players no matter who I stock it with. Just an observation, maybe I've just had bad luck. Also, so glad to see a new video, I can't stress enough how much I've learned from your material.

    • @sgtmushroom
      @sgtmushroom  Рік тому

      Generally, here's how I'd approach it: if you have a logjam, and you can't move one player to a different position, give yourself 1 year to deal one of the players. There's no reason to support a logjam with several talented players, no matter how good or young. If their talent level is similar, I'd deal the one in the majors, as trade value will generally be better (and you'll have more control of the younger player). You can generally get a good return.
      Demoting players or keeping them down to long does hinder development. That's why I generally recommend not waiting too long to trade.

    I just drafted a player who’s 46 of 80 coming out of HS. His expectations is playing in the majors. I placed him in AAA immediately and he’s unhappy. I assume it’s because he isn’t up in the big leagues. Have I messed up his development because I didn’t start him lower? Also, I’ve been following the green and red arrows to guide me whether I should move my prospects up. I assume that’s a no no? Thanks for all the videos.

    • @sgtmushroom

      Technically, with feeder leagues, it is possible to develop players that are actually MLB ready (even this isn't super common though). I would need to see more than just an overall rating to be able to advise you. I would recommend going to the player's morale tab at the bottom left to see WHAT is causing them to be unhappy (if it's role, they probably want to be in the majors. If it's performance, I'd demote him so he can hit better in AA or A+). NEVER use those arrows for promotions/demotions. They just show if a player is improving or dropping ratings, not if they're ready for the next level.

    • @sgtmushroom
      @sgtmushroom  Рік тому +1

      I try to allocate as much as I possibly can to development budget. When you're playing a small market team, it can be worth it to sacrifice the development budget early so you can spend and therefore increase your overall budget.

    Often when I try to keep prospects at the appropriate level for their talent, they get super mad about “transactions” and I think angry morale hurts development. I feel like I’m in a Catch 22

    So i've used this method now, and i have guys who should wreck @ the league there in, and they're doing completely terrible...one guy i have in High A ball, and (i know stars aren't important but to save time) 3/4.5 stars there with solid ratings but is doing absolutely terrible... recommendations?

    • @sgtmushroom
      @sgtmushroom  Рік тому

      A few things to keep in mind here. First of all, in addition to how bad stars are as a general evaluation tool, keep in mind that defense heavily affects it too. If your player is a really strong shortstop/CF, they could be a garbage hitter. Secondly, 3/4.5 stars compared to a level is not necessarily even a GOOD hitter, let alone a dominant one, at a given level. The batting profile could be inefficient, he could just not be well developed yet, there's a number of factors that could contribute. Thirdly, keep in mind small sample size is a LEGIT thing. Even if this player is truly quite good for the level, in small amounts of time they can struggle.
      Here is my recommendation. If the player is not actually ready, demote him. It hurts his development some, but less than sinking in a league he won't play in effectively. If the player is good enough, keep him in the league and give him more time to sort things out. If he continues to struggle over a larger sample size (usually half a season to a full season), it's time to demote him and let him get some success behind him.

I will post a review of the game and a general "State of OOTP" update on the engine (probably one soon after release and one a while after that), but other than those, I don't really have a date for when I'll be back on youtube. I'll probably release a video around then though explaining why my content has been on pause.
