I ran a self-publishing business from 2011 to 2019. When I calculated the cost of publishing 68 books and the money earned, I figured that I was earning 25 cents per hour. It was worth the effort, though. I was able to read authors' wonderful stories before anyone else.
@TheNerdyNovelist Thanks for another great podcast about self-publishing! 💙The Digital Age has liberated everyone from the fear of publishers' rejection letters. We can now have the freedom to tell our stories and experiences on our own without stress. From another Podcast I saw last year, the problem with using multiple services is the bar code. Amazon gives us a free one only to use with their service, if we wanted multiple services the podcaster mentioned to buy the bar code for reuse.
Thanks so much for this great information, Jason. I should be close to finishing with my first novel by the end of the year, and your videos are a big reason my goal is finally in sight.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm a totally new self published author. Besides Amazon KDP program. Do the other self publishing companies you mentioned in this video help you distribute physical copies of your books? Or just digital?
Besides Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Draft2Digital, and Ingram Spark all print physical books. Also a couple of other popular aggregators that do physical copies are Lulu and BookVault. Apple, Kobo, and Google do not do physical copies, just ebook or audio.
Depends on whether you want print on demand or to buy in bulk. I don’t know much about the latter. But for the former I’d either go with Amazon KDP or Bookvault.
I'm on Fiverr trying to get a formatter... if I want to self publish on ALL you suggested (Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Kobo B&N and Google Play), what programs format do I need to get from the person (on Fiverr)??? I'm SOOOOOOOOOO technically challenged it's scary. (I'm OLD)
@TheNerdyNovelist What is your workflow between Atticus and D2D? Do you just forego the D2D epub layout automation feature and upload the Atticus epub instead?
Due to being on Disability, What can i do IF I Cannot afford a proof reader, editor, and or Can't afford to get a cover made front and back etc for my book ? what can i do ? i barely got $ left over each month due to rent/bills/and stuff i need etc.

You can do it!
Thank you SO much for all the great info you provide in this video! Wow! This really helps me to get started.
Yes, a video comparing Pro Writing Aid and Autocrit would be helpful! Thanks!

Yes please - Video on ProWA and Crit…and Grammarly. Would like to hear a more detailed version of your analysis of that tool.
I’m looking for a similar video, but for the best places to actually print my book as I won’t be selling digitally.

When you sell titles on Shopify, are they physical copies you ship, PDF format, or what?
Mostly ebooks but you can connect to Lulu or Bookvault to sell print on demand copies.
Love Atticus one I use too

To keep it easy, just publish on Amazon and Draft2Digital. For the print book, you can easily find a template for both.

Yes, I don't use D2D's formatting options. Atticus is better.
