My 05 magnum front door wouldn't work with the remote and upon searching and searching, I found your video. I had 6 wires broken, I appreciate this video so much! 🫡
this was the best video I've seen on repair to a vehicle in general. good with instructions, shows all the proper components in detail with and the close up with the Camara when needed. thank you sir.
...here's the update 4/30/17 {2006, 1500 , dodge ram megacab 5.7 hemi } i just finished, and the man was 100% right. i had 4 wires cut and 2 wires with internal breakage but the silicone jacket was still intact causing an intermittent ongoing problem ,i successfully repaired the issues thanks to this video. your video took the guess work out of the job. thank you my brother. i have liked and i am a subscriber in appreciation
Wish I had watch this before I ordered my lock actuator. My dodge Durango has this problem. Its doesn't unlock at times. Since I changed the actuator the lock rod doesn't fully pop up until the second try at unlocking it. I will check the wires as you instructed. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video. My 1999 GMC Yukon has the same problem. The power windows work but the locks and exterior lights stop working two months ago. Going to try this and see if it works. Before this video I was scratching my head
Took care of mine over the weekend. Every wire was broken or about to be. Spliced/Soldered all of them. Works fine for now but existing wires seem brittle. Will probably need to get new harness/s moving forward. 2003 Ram 2500, 5.9 Cummins, I bought new and now have 326K on her...
@@Fed-Up_Hallelujah, no doubt. I just repaired everyone of the wires on my 2002 Ram Quad Cab 1500. While my repair job was good, those wires will break again. Just wanted to get mine repaired so I can sell it and honestly say, everything works.
Great job on the video & information. Question: 2006 RAM 2500 5.9L Laramie, where the power door locks all stop functioning, and the chime when the engine is turned off will continually sound until the door is closed. I reset the power door locks so they once again work by following manual instructions, until I once again turn off the engine, and it goes back to the same fail mode. Any idea what causes this?
Thank you very much it was very helpful I didn't try it yet but I'm going to I'll get back to you your video seemed very helpful and get right to the job so it's easy for us dummies
Well I got it all apart but when I was taking a trying to get the clips for the wiring harness couple Clips broke on me so now I got to replace the whole thing anyways but I keep looking to buy one and all I can find is 7 plugs and the Dodge Journey has 9 plugs
I have a 1998 Dodge Grand caravan.... Door locks don't always work. They always unlock but not always lock... Is there a central place that controls all four door locks.... I could use some help with this.... thanks....
check for a broken wire that doesn't look broken on the outside - also you can try applying power directly to the motor to see if it's the problem or it's wiring related
Hello thank you this is a great video and it is just what was wrong with my driver side rear door. After fixing six wires yesterday I thought this could be the problem with the drivers door. So I pulled the loom back but no broken wires. Now what the problem is, is that when I park and turn the key off than open the driver door that should unlock the other three doors but it does not. Also sometimes the horn will work while driving other times the hore just dose not work. Is there a relay for this or is it something else? Thanks again
Vic - you'll need to get a wiring diagram to troubleshoot those other problems - also check settings and disconnect then reconnect the battery for a few minutes - Chers From Canada!
So the wires in the door were all good in my Durango, are there any other wires to look at? Or do you think it’ll be in a different spot? After I assembled everything the door doesn’t lock automatically anymore like it used to so I think it’s a wire just not sure where.... thanks
The engineer who designed this wire loom, should be fired! Flexible wire, like that used in an extension cord, would easily have prevented this problem. I enjoyed your video, and the comment at the end, where you said, "just sell the truck", really made me laugh! Thank you for taking the time to create this "how to" video. Very informative.
i have a question. i have a 2009 ram 1500 trx4. i had just bought tow mirrors for my truck with the turn signal and puddle lamps. i have factory power heat, do you know how i can get the puddle lamps and turn signals working?
I have a 2007 honda civic. I have remote start in it. one day I pushed the remote start by accident and then pushed the button again to shut it off and now three of the windows don"t go down and the power locks don"t work. does anyone know what that could be
My grandson pushed the child safety lock while the door was open. We have not been able to open that door ever since. Can you explain what to do or do we need the mechanic? It is the back seat opposite the driver's seat.
Sharon - owner's manual is your best friend here - not knowing the car I'd use your power door looks to unlock the door - open from outside and lock near the latch on the door - there will be some tiny lever or other thing - listed in the manual - that you have to flick one way or the other to return it to normal - let me know how you make out - Cheers from Canada!
hi, good video,,i have a problem on a gm meriva,,master door locks itself, removed battery and it still half locks with one pull on handle and fully locks on two pulls,,,must be a mechanical problem i think,,but need to look,,any help appreciated,,rgds
Disconnect the power door lock from the lock itself then try the door lock and see if it works properly - if it does than the power door lock is the problem - do it for each door
I'm gonna check mine , I got a used 2008 a few weeks ago we noticed the back door doesn't power lock, but everything else is working. I have to fix the power sliding door on my 07 caravan every few months , wires keep breaking
what if all doors are locked and when driving it makes a locking noise like it wants to lock but that one door doesnt lock?only stays lock if i push it with my fingers and unlocks when i pull it
@@carquestions Too bad. I have a 1987 S10 Blazer the PDL and the rear tailgate lock that works off the same front door switches all do not work. The rear hatch glass works, but that is on a different switch. I wont be doing any of the work myself and I do not want a local butcher poking a bunch of holes in my harness to check things and play guessing games. The Blazer has been garage kept since new and only has 62K original miles on it. I am in Eastern Tn.
I have a 2008 Subaru Forester, and after I purchased the car, the seller told me "Don't lock the doors with the key fob or with the key." I have to leave my car unlocked for now until I can fix it. What would cause the doors not to be able to be locked with the key? I am afraid of being locked out of my car if I try to lock it manually. Can you tell me what the problem might be? Thanks
OK try this - roll all the windows down, get out of the car and lock all the doors with the remote and test if all the doors fail to unlock or lock - then try the key - if nothing works you can always reach in and open the door - if the remote and key don't work then there are broken parts in the door - maybe because of a previous failed repair or break in
Thank you for your quick reply. I will try this, but only with a car locksmith near by. I am thinking it needs to be reprogrammed or it may be the actuator. I will try your suggestion first. Thanks
No locksmith is needed - the windows are open and the inside door handle should work - also the key is all mechanical so its not a programming issue if it doesn't work it is a mechanical problem
Thanks for the info!! I have an 06 3500 MegaCab with nothing put wiring problems! constantly fixing this truck! Dodge sure makes one hell of a shitty truck!! the only part of the truck that has never giving me a problem in the Cummins Engine! heading out now to fix both left and right door wiring! I took it to the dealer and they had no idea how to fix it! they also broke both left front and left rear switch mounting plates! they never admitted to breaking them so I had to go out and buy new ones! Dodge SUCKS!
I'll say it right here, what a shitty design by Dodge. Those are absolutely the wrong wires for that application, they should have been more flexible. That being said, this video is spot on. If you have an older Dodge Ram and are experiencing electrical issues with any of the doors, this is where you need to start.
Thanks for the video. Saved me tons of trouble. I had one broken wire and another that was cracked. Fixed mine in about 15 min.
