    FYI - there is an engine recall affecting Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX models. This Sequoia is not under a recall at this time. For this reason, there is no mention of a recall in this video.

      After the initial recall and roughly 800-1000 documented cases can you comment on how many are failing daily? How many are sitting at Toyota and Lexus dealerships waiting for short blocks? I would think if this was widespread vehicles would be piling up waiting for repairs. Be interesting data to compile.

      @Pickuptrucktalk  6 місяців тому

      @@peterdanese3823 I think it would near impossible to find all the data. There are hundreds of dealerships and they aren’t required to keep records. Toyota corporate isn’t going to make that data public. I don’t have the man power myself to even begin such a project.

    I agree with you about these large SUV's not having enough cargo room. Back when I used to travel for trap shooting a bit, I saw a guy with a Tahoe he had taken all the back seats out. He set it up to sleep in and hold a bunch of camping gear, fishing poles, and his guns. This was the perfect camping rig. I think if the one of the automakers would offer a bare bones full size 4x4 SUV with the 2nd and 3rd row seats as options, a flat cargo area, and power onboard, it would sell like crazy. SUV's are so much easier than pickups to lock up, heat, cool, etc for camping and traveling.

      Great idea and such a good production plan as a big percentage of buyers would go for this and they could have a lower price point. I like ventilated/heated seats but those plush second and third row seats hardly ever get used in my Tahoe

    I had a 2023 Sequoia Platinum and traded it in last month for a 2024 4Runner. The Sequoia was a great vehicle, but don’t want any part of an engine recall or failure. I will wait until the end of 2025 and all the issues have been sorted.

    • @bobbbobb4663

      Just because they studied the seat doesn’t mean they took any action items. Alternately, they might have studied the seat and realized they could cost reduce the new seat. I have a 2020 Corolla and the seat leaves a lot to be desired.

    The biggest con is the price. You'd need to make over $600,000 if you followed the 10% rule to afford it. I doubt it will make one feel that special. But, even at a $125,000 income, these are very difficult to afford. All the tech and all the this and that, but no progress on affordability.

    • @Pickuptrucktalk

      Does anyone follow the 10% rule anymore?

    • @cpftank09
      @cpftank09 6 місяців тому +1

      I don’t think that’s really feasible. By your example of making 125k per year, you’d only ever be able to afford a cheap used car at $12,500 and we all know you’re not driving a sub $10k vehicle, let alone 2 if you have a 2nd vehicle in the family.

      Here I thought the “10% rule” was trying to keep your monthly vehicle expenses: payment, insurance, fuel, and maintenance to no more than 10% of your gross income.
      The Sequoia is doable on this metric but you will need 30% down or more, and an annual gross income of $150,000 or more on a 72 month loan.

    • @ksorsomeplace
      @ksorsomeplace 6 місяців тому

      @@brendanreary9142 I've seen it described both ways in various sources. In my example, I used the total method. As you can see, it means you'll likely never get a new vehicle. So, I would say that monthly method is the one that is meant and writer(s) of some of the articles I've seen made the same mistake?

    Even TRD Jon couldn’t stomach this mess 😅
    All this nonsense is coming about due to the shared platform
    It is an excuse for design shortcuts
    The plus side of this is it should be possible to do massive improvements with a refresh
    No much consolation if one dumped a load on this pile
    Toyota got away for years with keeping old designs and doing very little to them
    People would make excuses that this was for reliability
    No Toyota is notoriously penny pinching and they were doing just that
    Now they are forced to bring out new designs the penny pinching remains
    But this time at a cost in basic quality
