G'day from Oz. definitely the 80 was my favourite bit. Learned more from this video than any others I have watched to date...which is a lot! Came into possession of a '61 Scout 80. (Built in Victoria, Australia) You mentioned weak diffs/axles in the 80s. Got any (non-extreme) drivability upgrades that you can suggest? Again, huge thanks for the super informative video!
Just talked to my friend hunter he said this "well if it's a 80 and he keeps the 152 the axles will be fine. I'd do 31s or 32s if he wants bigger tires, still need the power to spin em offroad. if he has a dana 25 swap it for a dana 27 or 44. none bigger than 33 inch tires"
Thank you very much! Will be keeping the 152 as I don't want to chop my 'road tractor' up too much...haha! I have 27's underneath which will probably be sufficient for the interim. (Not many parts for these old girls over this way.) Looks like you blokes are in a lovely part of the country too. Thanks again for the assistance.
I live close to Redding. I have my eye on a scout 80 or 800, not sure. Have not really checked it out yet. Is the first thing to check out to see that the motor is not locked up? What is the value of an 80 like the one you have in the condition it is in? Thanks. Nice video too.
I would make sure it’s not super rusty. Checking to see if motor is not locked up is a good start. A scout 80 in the condition like the one in the video is probably worth around 5-6k. Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Stay tuned we will be comparing the scout 80 to an fj40 Land Cruiser!
Not too rusty motor turns over with a breaker bar. Looks like I have secured the deal, just need a trailer to haul it home 25 miles. Then start on getting it running.
I have a mid to late 60's Scout 800A ( I believe) that has the IH V 8 4 speed that I am about to get...question is, there is no title, no VIN and no ID plate under the hood..I wanted to restore it but if I can't drive it daily is it worth it?? Body is pretty decent..
Awesome! I myself want a scout also. The 152 is a cool little engine. We also did a video with the scout 80 and my fj40 off-road ua-cam.com/video/mo3z34NuYGE/v-deo.htmlsi=ECqhw25_4lkw7SQm

Scout 80 is a dream vehicle. Cool video 👍
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it👍. I definitely wouldn’t mind a scout 80 my friend hunter is definitely making me want one lol.
Thanks for the memories. I learned to drive on a 1975 Scout II that was a right-hand-drive mail truck.
Glad you enjoyed the video! That’s awesome. Love hearing the stories of these old cars!
ua-cam.com/video/mo3z34NuYGE/v-deo.htmlsi=HnLD1nDtkiTj3b72 I also made this video showing off more of the scout!
The original 80! That thing will go places only a goat can.
That is very true! The 80 is quite nimble off-road
Definitely the Scout 2 ; had several myself🤩😎⭐️
Awesome what year we’re your scout II ? Stay tuned for more scout content. Big plans for both of them 👍

At that point it’s really only good for off-road use. Not really sure on value.
you got one on the frame too up front
I love my 1966 I have the 4 speed with the slant 152
