Ghibli's "Spirited Away" Watercolor Fanart painting process

- "Spirited Away" by Studio Ghibli has turned 20 this year! And it's still one of my most favourite animated movies ever. It has everything: the story, the world, breathtaking backgrounds and the most amazing characters that'll blow your mind. I think this movie is one of the things that influenced the way I build my own composition and load them with bizarre detail as that keeps the brain moist (he he).
Here is my tribute to the cause - a fanart piece that is a fruit of passion and admiration.
I used layers and layers of Kuretake watercolor as well as Daler Rowney paints, some posca and some masking fluid as well as shimmery paints to highlight particular areas.

Just love her dark painterly aesthetic in all of her pieces.
This is how I want my art to look like
i will never understand how Marijas watercolor outlines don't smudge when adding the following layers. When I do it, it's always a mess! Lovely video though and I freaking love the art work!!
I'm not sure if she uses it, but I use a workable watercolor fixative to protect any under layers that I don't want changed
it depends on the paper too, it usually won't smudged on 100% cotton paper
