Kiki's Delivery Service is one of my favorite anime movies. And this is one of my favorite scenes from that movie. I recently built the paper model of this exact scene (made by the Sankei company of Japan). I improved the model be adding "glass" to the counter cabinet front. It reflects the light just as your painting shows. Wonderful painting!

@@meecoart My work is nothing special. I built many plastic models over the years, mainly for model railroads. However, I never built a paper model before and thought I might try it. I enjoyed it a lot. The little laser-cut 3-D diorama kit is in a very small scale, with its base only about 2 inches or 5 centimeters square. You can see it and many more dioramas and other models on the Sankei company's website. Kiki must be very popular as they offer some 20 diorama kits of different scenes from the movie. They also make diorama kits for other Ghibli anime including My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, etc. Stay well.

@@meecoart I am 66 years old and only recently discovered Ghibli anime. Kiki was the first DVD I bought (used) and I fell in love with her character, story, and artwork. The backgrounds are so finely detailed and sharp that they looked more like paintings than cartoons. Much different than Disney. I also appreciated the countless hours of extra work it took the anime artists to make the backgrounds and characters look so good. As you probably know, unlike an ordinary painting, animation requires characters to be drawn and painted hundreds of times in slightly different poses to give the illusion of movement on film. It is a shame that hand-drawn animation has been superseded by CG. Did you know Ghibli is opening a theme park in Japan with life-sized recreations of the buildings and locations from many of its movies? Wish I could go!
