Sabrina the Teenage Witch (a.k.a. Sabrina Spellman, Sabrina Victoria Spellman, Sabrina That Cute Little Witch) is a fictional comic character first created in 1962 by George Gladir and Dan DeCarlo, as part of Archie Comics (her first appearance was in Archie's Madhouse issue #22, which was released in October of 1962). Sabrina lives with her two aunts Hilda and Zelda Spellman (both witches) and a cat named Salem Saberhagen. Sabrina's boyfriend is named Harvey Kinkle. In most versions of the story, they live in the fictional town of Greendale, which is near Riverdale.
There have been several animations about these characters. And from 2018 to 2020, there a live action show on Netflix titled "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" (created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, and Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman).
But today I want to talk about the TV series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which ran from 1996 to 2003, on ABC and WB. This show was created by Jonathan Schmock and Nell Scovell, and starred Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman, Caroline Rhea as Hilda Spellman, Beth Broderick as Zelda Spellman, Nate Richert as Harvey Kinkle, and Nick Bakay as the voice of Salem Saberhagen (the cat). In this show, it's said that they live at 133 Collins Road, in the fictional town of Westbridge, Massachusetts (which is supposed to be a suburb outside the city of Boston, Massachusetts). Although the majority of the show was filmed in Los Angeles, California, the exterior shots we see of Sabrina Spellman's home were filmed at a house on Main Street in Freehold, New Jersey. And in June of 2021, I visited this NJ town and saw the house.

Sabrina was one of go to comedy comics as a kid; more edge than Archie (which I also liked) and superpowers. I think I even recall her showing up a few times in his comics and TV cartoons. When the TV show came out in the 90s I took one look at how different everyone looked from the comic and my mental image of what they should look like in live action and wrote it off, but when I did finally watch it it became one of those guilty pleasures, at least for a season or two. Cool seeing where the real house was; I always like seeing real-world locations.
Thanks, Ivan. I'll be honest: the show "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" clicked with my personal tastes better (even if that also went for a completely different tone than the comics and animations). But this show could also be entertaining in it's own way... Did you ever see the episode of Riverdale that Sabrina made a guest appearance on?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Welcome. No, I didn't; to be honest, until this video I don't think I even heard that there was a new Sabrina. Glad they tied it into Riverdale. Even though I haven't seen any of those, and it's a different style than what I'm use to for Archie, I like the fact that the franchise has made it back into pop culture (maybe even bigger than ever). But, I'll have to give it a look. I also like that, from what I hear, Archie Comics superheroes are getting acknowledged there. Some day, if interested, maybe you can make a video about Riverdale? And the Arichie comic book superheroes referenced?
@@ivane5110 Well, if you can be open to changes in tone, then I definitely recommend you give Chilling Adventures of Sabrina a chance. It's on Netflix... Will I ever make a video about Riverdale? I have no plans to at the moment, but never say never!
