this was a super fun process to watch! i used to write SO MUCH back in middle school and then kind of stopped :/ i used to print out my stories and pass them around to my friends during class and they would add little suggestions and comments to them. so wholesome to look back on. do you think you'll make a video talking about what inspired you to get back into writing and how you started doing it again?

4:31 YES! I’m a black writer writing a fantasy romance with both of the love interests being black and trying to find ANY medieval photos with their skin color is impossible. :(
I really wanted to make a Pinterest board of my story but the pale skin tones just take me out of the immersive experience making a Pinterest board normally does for my characters.

How do you manage to sit down and write? 🥺 that’s the hardest part for me
I usually carve out a couple hours or a whole day to write! usually if I turn off my phone and disconnect from wifi I feel more focused :)

I am trying to get into writing child/midlegrade stories (instead of more adult fiction), do you have any tips in terms of style etc. to make a story more suited to a midlegrade audience? Hi! Thank you so much! My biggest piece of advice is to read a lot of books in the demographic you are hoping to write for! I ask people in my age demographic what their favorite books are and really dive into those books, as well as asking that group what THEY are looking for in a story!

How often are you writing tho (hours per week/day) ? I always struggle to make enough time, and feel like I could‘ve written much more.. :/
Oh forgot: What do you suggest doing first?? Detailed character building before actually writing anything or the other way around?
I try to write or work on my writing in some capacity for at least a half hour a day! Some days I end up working on it for 6+ hours in one sitting, and other days I dont even think about it!
and it totally depends! I've done it all sorts of ways before but character and world building has always been my favorite!
