books by black authors with black lgbtq+ characters + themes: honey girl, you should see me in a crown, cinderella is dead, let’s talk about love, ace of spades, if it makes you happy, and the stars and the blackness between them 🥰 just to name a few
i love what you mentioned about all these books being for everyone any age. we really have so much to learn from books, we're not 'too old' to read something just because it's aimed at a younger audience. ^^
i recommend the seven husbands of evelyn hugo for great bi rep in an old timey book, and alice oseman wrote a book called loveless based on their experience as an aro/ace person :))
you opened my eyes to all the types of books i can read. i always thought i didn’t like, or couldn’t read but i was always just making myself read what i didn’t want or couldn’t really comprehend. gonna pick up a ‘kids’ book from the library this week 😊
for anyone looking for more lgbtq+ reads i highly recommend books and bao's youtube channel! they talk regularly about old, new, and a lot of translated literature that involves lgbtq+ themes and characters. ^^
There is a comic book series called moonstruck that also incorporates lgbtq+ with magical characters. I've been wanting to read that for a while now. It looks fun!
Love the recommendations! Just a heads up, both Alice Oseman and Casey Mcquiston are non-binary, Alice's pronouns are she/they and Casey goes by any pronouns according to their Twitter.
you've probably heard of it being in this book community corner but i can't recommend song of achilles enough!! as an art and mythology loving lgbt+ community person this book really touched me. it's written very beautifully, you can feel pure love reading it :)
