We are really interested in this for maybe summer .
My son is really into the periodic table of elements and see if you’re interested. He will be in fourth grade next fall. I was wondering if you think this would be OK to do for the two months of summer and then put it down for a while and then pick it up for like a month of winter or is this something we should do all at once throughout the whole 14 lessons.

Personally I like to stick to one topic versus working on it for a bit and then picking it up later--but you know your family best! 4th grade is probably about the absolute youngest I would do this level--it does help if there's a natural interest in this topic, but it's one of the more challenging topics in the Young Explorers series!

Which Young Explorers would you recommend for a 2nd grader? We’re considering switching to Apologia.

I believe that the Botany and the Zoology topics (there are several different Zoology volumes) are more aimed at the earlier elementary grades. We haven't used those, we have only used Anatomy and this Chemistry and Physics, both of those are are better fit with upper elementary.

Bible in a science curriculum ? Does the workbook have exercises for calculations ?

If any, there are very few calculations in this course for the student to complete. That's been my experience generally with elementary science courses...the calculations and the math that is the hallmark of Chemistry and Physics come in at the high school level when students have taken Algebra and now have the math skills necessary. The elementary level focus on introduction of basic concepts of the science and on observation of principles at work in experiments. When I was in high school, Chemistry and Physics were my favorite subjects...those pages and pages of calculations to solve a problem were so satisfying!
