Cerys Matthews led me to Lisa. And the song was Old Note. And the song connected me to my dad, dead for 23 years. It was the way she said "birdies". The intonation, melody was exactly how my dad said the word, and I hadnt heard it said like that since he died. The power of music and connection
Very moving story. I saw Lisa live in a record shop in Kingston when she was signing her latest CD. She is so good. We talked briefly about Ivor Cutler.
Lisa's interpitation of song is so moving I have never heard anybody like her from my grandmother Margaret Barry she reminds me of the importance of been yourself threw your music and song amazing hopefully I will get to see her perform her singing really moves me🙂
0:39 Blackbird 4:10 Old note 10:52 Lullaby of London 14:48 Potholes in the sky 20:21 The strangeness of all of this 25:48 Blue moon 32:51 In the bleak midwinter
I discovered Lisa from hearing her tracks on Peaky Blinders and was obsessed from the off. I have listened to her album Pothole in the Sky over and over. She makes it all seem so effortless, such a talent
Blackbird, sit on my shoulder and tell me a song When I cry, do you hear in colour or black and white, bird? The morning is new, but the feeling is old Intervene, blackbird, and shorten the road Blackbird, the way I imagined love was wrong I've come to love him like I couldn't fathom, blackbird What I tap away at, I fear and I long Intervene, blackbird, and shorten the road Blackbird, slip into my slumber and show me a song When I dream, do you see in colour or at all, bird? The picture is peaceful, but I dream alone Intervene, blackbird, and shorten the road
I don't watch television any more so never seen peaky blinders, I can't remember if I heard Lisa late on a Friday night not long ago on Radio 3 or a Sunday night on Radio 6, either way this precious soul has already enriched my life with her music. Thanks. Would love to catch a gig some day.
Words feel so inept for how much this moves me... I am so in awe of Lisa's songs & expression ❤️ can anyone please tell me the names of the slow Irish airs she mentioned, apart from wild geese? ✨
Her music is so healing, I love it. Some musicians and song titles were mentioned as inspirational, does anyone know the references? Im trying to google what I hear but nothing comes up (so mysterious)
a lot of them are folk 'tunes' and therefore wont come under specific authors or artists, you might be able to find them if you type in 'tune' or 'folk instrumental' or something along those lines
I think Lisa is the finest lyricist to come out of Ireland since Luke Kelly. Her music is the very essence of Ireland 🇮🇪
Luke Kelly didn't write songs.

Wow Margarette Barry, now there's a great comparison. Margaret and Pecker Dunne were very underrated.
Great performance by Lisa and her band.
She has an uncommon beauty. The kind of beauty which is commonly over looked.

Fantastic! There's nothing I don't love about Lisa O'Neill.
I do adore Lisa.
The apotheosis of a fishwife: the muse finds in Lisa a lovely, savory niche.
I think Chritophe and Mic are the perfect accompanyment to your singing they play with the same depth and feeling. Great musicians.

Your singing and song writing is a continuation of traditional irish folkmusik. You are unik. Thanks Lisa.
I’ll hope to see her and her band once in the Netherlands or in Ireland. A legend and magical songs from Ireland.

Has anyone heard of Margret Barry 😂? Man this as blatant a rip off as her pal uncle glen doing Luke Kelly impressions...cringe worthy.
