- Enjoy the countryside and find out about loads of interesting stuff as I tackle a trail run organised by ‘Big Feat Events’, starting in the historic city of Winchester in Hampshire.
Iron-age migrants from Europe, Caesar and the Romans as well as a Great Anglo-Saxon king have all influenced this amazing place - and I worked on a farm nearby in the 1980s!
I'm a middle-aged, UK trail runner who enjoys the countryside - why not come along with me as I explore new places and find out interesting stuff about them?
If you have any suggestions for runs I might try, or locations to explore, I'd love to hear from you - I always read all the comments on my videos.

Nice job Julian! Really enjoyed this 🥳
Thank you. I learned a lot too!
I really enjoy this style of commentary - keep it up!
Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it!
Julian - thank you for providing all that historical context to the places you run through. It makes for an engaging watch and adds another welcome dimension to trail running
Thanks Roy, I really enjoy sharing what I have learned with you
Well done Julian. I had a damaged knee, so shuffled around the 50km in 6.45. To say it 'rained a bit' would be an understatement 😂
Gosh! We 14 milers were very lucky with the rain - but I saw the pictures of later in the day! 💦 I hope the knee is OK...
Well done Julian, really enjoyed this video and thats a cracking pace for a tough old trail run. I did the Big Way Round marathon last year and it was really tough! Thank you for giving us the little nuggets of information as you are running, it makes the run even more interesting. Also, love that you have a personal connection to the area in the past. Clarksons farm can do one, how about Julians Farm?!
Hope you dont mind me asking, but what camera/tripod do you use? I have an Insta360 buts it proving quite challenging for videoing runs.
Thanks Jonathan - well done for foing the marsthon, Iwas very glad to just be running 14 miles. Mind you - I have just signed up for a beast of a run in July! (Details coming very soon!). Regarding the Insta - looks cool, but a lot of the coolness lies in the post-production editing. I use GoPro - checkout this video: ua-cam.com/video/oTFAOHFV7D4/v-deo.htmlsi=svFqspfANYDkJnjW
It’s not easy to run and comment))) I tried... but it was enough for me to run and record #shorts for 40 seconds)))
Thanks - it does take a bit of practice! 🏃♂️➡️😁
love your interesting runs. I have my first trail 10k soon but I will not be able to chat as there are hills involved.😅
Thank you! My first ever 10k was a trail one in 2016 - and the rest, as they say, is history! Enjoy!
