Todd is the attenuation IN when the toggle switch at the back are up or down - it’s a bit confusing.

Would I have to adjust the xlr output voltage going into an Accuphase E-5000 integrated? & is that just done with the switches on the back? Thanks.
How do you think this compares with the accuphase dac 60 card?

The DAC204 is adjustable and can be attenuated up to 40dB using the switches on the rear panel. I do not think you would need to adjust it for the E-5000 but you can find what output works best for you easily with the attenuation. I did not need to attenuate with my Accuphase E-800. I prefer the DAC 204 to the DAC 60 card.

It really depends more on the cartridge with this turntable. It is solid and allows the characteristics of the cartridge to come through. I found it to work very well with a Shelter 501 Mklll and that detail and soundstaging was very good - width and depth. Midrange was sweet and vocals sounded natural. The Shelter 501 Mklll is a rather smooth, pleasant cartridge with good bass and that is what you get with it on the TEAC TN5BB.
Realistically, the turntable should spin at the correct speed without wow and flutter, allow the stylus to ride in the groove without external vibrations interfering in the reproduction and not add anything of its own coloring to the sound. This the TEAC accomplishes.
