This was my experience sometimes around May after getting a Job, I was speechless/numb on the call for few seconds. They had to ask if I was still hearing them, thank God for you both. We stay thriving by the grace of God. If you're reading this, stay positive and don't give up! God always comes through and it was honestly a period of humility for me as well.
Scrolled unto your channel by pure chance, and really enjoyed the discussion. Laughed when Mr Fash was discussing the STAR approach, a bit of nastiness on public transport, and unemployment. A rite of passage that brought back some painful memories to me, but with a smile now. I am sure all will be well. I wish both of you all the best.
It is great how you don't just share the juicy parts of your journey, but also helping us see the rough sides, too. You know, nowadays, the rate of perfectly curated contents can no longer be met up. Love your sincerity and lessons❤❤
The unemployment topic is really a issue of concern especially for a new family in a new environment but with faith & perseverance we move….So relatable, thank you guys for sharing ❤❤❤
I’m continually happy when the japa gang see the reality that is living abroad. Their level of endurance and tolerance from all the vlogs out there is very low. Yet 9ja people have been abroad for years enduring, tolerating, and getting on with it. Not only that, they kept sending money back home despite everything. Hang in there, it will all work out in the end.
I beg to differ about sitting on the train. Some British people prefer to be alone in their own world. They don't want to be distracted. Sometimes black people can be very conscious of themselves. One Nigerian colleague took a pen from a wite colleagues desk. The white colleague told her to put it back. The Nigerian colleague should have asked if she can use the white colleague's pen. That's being catious(sp). I've been in UK since 1973, a registered nurse, midwife health visitor, psychology degree. Now retired. Stay blessed.
Love you two and this channel! The key to making the most of the UK is getting the location right. I can see you both thriving down South or at the very least Birmingham. So looking forward to watching your journey! ❤
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I pray God ground and establish you more to His glory 🙏,may He release unto you showers of blessings ,as He enlarge your coast 🙏🤍🤍🤍🤍🔥🔥🔥🔥.
In using STAR, they always want figures, the year it happend, the number of people involved, the percentage achievement impact etc. This scores you point and the interviewers don't miss it. May God not let us miss our opportunity ❤. That lower before your lowest low😂. I can imagine. Lovely video sis.
The bus scenario got me😮, you mean people could choose standing over sitting by a different race? Hmm. I feel enlightened. Sending ❤❤❤ your way. Have a blissful September dear
Honestly I been treated better in the UK compared to my own country Uganda. And Iam so greatfull for that. Obviously not everything is perfect but I feel like some of us foreigners are too entitled most especially in the UK.There is some racism but its nothing compared to Africa where is tribalism as in whose tribe is in power, colourism as in some people's colour get better opportunities than others, looks as well, who do you know as in do you have connections, the list is endless.I hate it when I see foreigners in a country like UK complain about everything and yet they dont leave. They are so entitled and ungreatfull.
Your husband is really intelligent and I wish he expantiated further on some things ẹ.g "when he was talking about some research he wish he had done" I wanted to know like what kind of research and where we could get such information from
If you live abroad generally, you need to grow thick skin. Some people will do it to your face and you ignore them like they don’t exist, they feel more embarrassed at their own actions.
The thing about getting a job in the UK is that your race matters. Especially for high paying roles and positions. I have an ambiguous sounding name that makes it harder for recruiters or employers to know if I’m black so I get a lot of call backs from applications I put out. All that changes when they see my skin color despite my qualifications or years of experience 😂 I’ve attended interviews both online and in person where once I turned up the interviewers face drops 😂
How does the STAR method work? The STAR method helps you create an easy-to-follow story with a clear conflict and resolution. Here’s what each part of the technique means: Situation Set the stage for the story by sharing context around a specific situation or challenge you faced. Share two or three important details about relevant work situations, academic projects or volunteer work. You should spend the least amount of time on this part of your answer as interviewers are more concerned with the actions you took and the results you achieved. Task Describe your responsibility or role in the situation or challenge. In other words, discuss the goal or task set out for you. Consider just one or two main points that best illustrate the task you needed to complete. This section requires a minimal amount of time, similar to the situation component. Action Explain the specific actions you took to handle the situation or overcome the challenge. Identify and discuss a few of the most impactful steps you took to find success. Even if your actions were taken as part of a team, avoid using "we" in your response and instead use "I" to highlight your particular contributions. This part of your answer requires the most in-depth description as this is what largely indicates your fitness for a role. Result What was the outcome you reached through your actions? Focus on two or three main results of your actions and discuss what you learned, how you grew and why you're a stronger employee because of the experience. And, if possible, provide concrete examples of the results of your efforts. You should spend only slightly less time discussing the results than your actions. www.indeed.com/career-advice/interviewing/how-to-use-the-star-interview-response-technique
Hello guys, this is a very good video, very practical and realistic. I like rhe chemistry between you guys, and the level of your intelligence is inspiring. If you don't mind, i would love to be friends with you, bro. I think I would learn a lot of rhings from you. I'm currently in the North Eastern England, on a work visa. My wife has been here since May, and haven't been able to get a job too, so i can relate to the unemployment issue.
I am assuming you do not live in London, because in London you see all nationalities in the stores working. Perhaps you may not see a black person as a store manager but on the shop floor all nationalities. Also in the office also it is mixed particular if you work for certain government departments like the DWP, HMRC, HO mixed work force especially in London.
Thanks to you and oga Fash. Just a quick one please.can a dependent start applications atleast one month before coming in from Nigeria to the UK. Considering BRP hasnt been picked up and NI sent? How did your hubby manage that before he came in.
You were to talk about your lowest low, but you backed out. Would have been better you hint and paint a picture to give your audience and idea of the lowest low
I watched your channel when you first relocated to the UK, and you said you preferred it to the USA. I knew then that you were naive and making a great mistake. If you can get a student or work visa back to the USA, swallow your pride and get on it. It would be the best decision you guys ever make. Your chances of making it and going far are in the USA, not the UK.
