- In this video, we explore what India can learn from some of the top education systems in the world. We examined the education systems of Finland, Japan, and Germany and brought together 3 suggestions that Indian schools can apply in real life without waiting for the implementation of National Education Policy 2020.
These changes are as follows:
Finland
Reducing pressure from school going kids by giving them more time to grow. This includes giving less homework, and ample time for other activities.
Building better student-teacher relationships.
Better pay and social status for teachers.
Japan
Moral teaching and critical thinking for students. The #NEP2020 has introduced self-evaluation for school going kids which is a very progressive step and every school can learn from it. Schools can have activities to promote moral coaching from an early age. And using tales from Ramayana, Jataka, Mahabharata, Panchatantra can teach them while entertaining them.
Germany
All work is important. Everybody contributes to the country by doing their job. If certain jobs get more importance than they should then it breaks the equilibrium of the economy. Vocational training is very important for those who cannot spend 16 years of their lives for education.

Ancient Gurukula education system:
1. Education from 8 years to 22 years. Children should have Upanayana and take brahmacharya.
2. Students will live with Gurus in their own ashrams and fed nutritional food by Gurus.
3. No regular fees.
4. Students are taught one subject per one year to ensure full concentration on single matter with Ganita Shashtra (Mathematics) and scriptures common in every year.
5. Complete practical education.
6. Very less writing, more listening and remembering.
7. Negligeble co-education.
8. Education under tree.
9. Survival skills, swimming, archery, weapon skills are taught.
10. Value education is compulsory.
11. Gurus will recieve Dakshinas from students, these include money, land, properties etc.

Whatever best of the systems around the world can definitely incorporated into our system.But,it does not mean we copy them entirely into our system like our Constitution.Indian Gurukul system can definitely be adopted with little modification.We can bring the kids to school in the age of 5 or 6 years.2 years basic Akshara,play and fun. 8 years Upanayana--Start with Ramayana,Mahabharata and basics of shastras upto age of 10years. 11 years to 16 yearas study of Ganita,Itihasa,Vignana along with Scriptures and Extra carricular activities like sports and NCC. 17 to 22 years can include Continued study of Shastras and coupled with vocational courses can give a wholesum meal to our students.

I want to share something,
To whoever is reading it,
I was a very curious student and I used to enjoy studying and playing alot. Over the time I used to like my homeworks too (I was an ICSE student), but as I reached University, I saw my interest in studies deteriorated, mainly because of homeworks and literally waste assignments which even the teachers admit it.
But because of this I shifted my focus from studies where I used to score 90s and dropped to 60-70s and went into curricular activities more, my teachers saw my marks dropping and said maybe I'm becoming a bad student and really did not care much because all that marks were just byhearting answers which I think is a waste.
For example what are the disadvantages of farming (16marks), well they could just explain us the disadvantages in class and give us a practical assignment of growing a particular plant and nurture it at home or school as the student feels comfortable while showing the plant back after say a month to check progress and what I learnt, rather than mugging up.
I have lost a lot of interest in studying just because of ***t assignments, yes it is that bad and useless, everyone admits it but never say kyunki 'kya faraq padta hai'.
That's what I typed this long message for anyone who is reading this, faraq ye padta hai ki, you ruin the student's creative and curious mind, you exhaust their thinking abilities for mugging up ***t, you fill them with boredom and ruin their inner self esteem by taunting 'nerds' and 'professionals' in a very negative tone.
This is my experience, how my brain was ruined to leave no interest and this thing made and hard working student to turn into a procrastinator!
I am a CA student now, I'm working hard to get back what I lost before, trying to get my creative mind back again, and to get back how extrovert I was.

Many problems are being solved in gurukul system.
We need more Modern Gurukuls now, or else our students are gonna be like the south Korean students....
Forgetting the roots is the real problem.
Earlier in our country there were Gurukuls, where students were taught practically, they used to their work themselve, the same teacher, yoga, meditation, etc.
This was the best schooling.
Its high time that homework needs to get reduced,even in lockdown, online studies are going on and i as a student of class 12 doesn't have even 10 mins to sit and relax...i mean the assignments and test preparations are so much and it is so tiring to continuously sit back and study without any break.

It's not the fault of our school teachers it's the fault of our system the new generation teachers are imposed to follow the traditional techniques because if they are left free to teach according to there pattern of teaching then the older teachers so called " seniors" feel low and their ego hurts they try to remove a new generation teachers mistakes in their teaching .
And its not at all different from our Gurukul system. Whatever they have shown in this video was already existing in India. But due to invasions we have lost it.

Even though I study in an indian school.I am proud to say that my school is different from all others in the country. They neither pressurize us with homeworks nor with the exams.
Our teacher's are literally so close to us that if there is something special prepared at their home they get a huge amount of the dish for the whole class to eat.
And the most important thing is even though we have a class duration of just 40 minutes, the teachers allow us to discuss the concepts with our friends in the class and evolve the peer group learning.
Mann!!The team work and skill development are taught in a totally different way. They take us to many adventural excursions like the Himalaya Excursion.This was the best one!!.We spent a lot of time with the teachers and got to know more about everyone's while climbing mountains and walking through the dense forests.
And we literally built our own boats to cross a lake using water drums and sticks.Even the weakest student (I mean in studies) in the class came up with innovative ideas and easier ways to cross the lake.
And one of the best things is the students of our school were no t allowed to go to tutions.And if they find us going they would talk to the parents and the teachers would be ready to take us to their and make us understand the concepts. Me being average student spent many nights at my teachers house so that he could wake me up early in the morning and teach the difficult concepts.
Just book learning in the four walls of the classroom was not encouraged by our school.
I remember when j was in class 5 I unknowingly derieved the area of rectangle and square formula when we were made to calculate the huge 1acre ground of our school. (We drew grids all over the ground using chalk powder and tried to calculate the area).
Even though I was not that good at studies,my school encouraged my interests in experiementing so much that I ended up making a device for the blind which would help them to see.MY SCHOOL WAS THE REASON I COULD MEET AND HAVE A CONVERSATION THE AMERICA'S TOP YOUNG SCIENTIST GEETHANJALI RAO.
Finally,I am happy that I got an opportunity to study in such a great school.

But in interviews, they test your speaking skills, your EQ, your IQ and what not!!!! But they never prepare us for that!!! 😖

One of the first thing to be done in all school and colleges is reduce the crowd in a class. A small class filled with 60-70 students is a mess, I know as I've experienced it in my school days. The less students in a class, the less burden on the teacher too, who can then manage and observe each student more efficiently and effectively.

They are so right and so clear that I personally think that they are very capable of starting their own NEWSPAPER. Cause I was the one who used to read them daily and find them so depressing. I started reading them for general knowledge but because of them, now its really hard for me to look at India as a loving and growing country.
The question should be can we Teach to Learn.
For most of the jobs today like programming, digital marketing etc information is available in abundance. What we need to teach is how to use this info for your goal. I believe that should be the goal of an education system.
