- In this video, Abhi and Niyu address the spitting problem of India. How Pan Masala industry uses surrogate advertising to get around the existing rules and regulations to promote the use of carcinogenic goods and destroy the youth of India. Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff are known to promote brands that sell harmful products and yet we continue worshipping them as stars. Pan Masalas promote spitting as there is absolutely no solution on this matter. As the Pan Masala market is 41000 crore in India, we urge the producers to take up the initiative to clean India and stop the spread of TB.

Wouldn't just pin this on India because we see Heineken selling their 0.0 alcohol products which honestly not many would care about. Surrogate advertising has been there since years, another example being Mission Winnow on Ferrari's F1 cars after Marlboro was banned from advertising. The problem here is the aftermath of spitting. Those who wanna consume this sh!t would do it anyway but doing so while dirtying the nation isn't cool and it must be stopped.

If I ask you this question, I bet you can't come up with any permanant or strong solution to this problem. A normal person would say imposing fine. Now persons who would be employed to levy fine, they would start taking bribe and letting go off the wrong doers. Anything you do, the people's mindset needs to be changed. If you ban these products people would smuggle it in the same way as liquor is smuggled to Bihar!!!
So awareness is ultimately the only way to stop these...but that is harder said than done

2 years ago i went to Odisha. I loved it the hold temples looked amazing and the beaches were also clean. The only problem? there is freaking gutka everywhere in the road. Most of the people i saw there , including temple priests had paan in their mouth. I think Odisha is a great state but this is smthing they need to fix!

Being a 13 year old girl i have seen numerous people spitting on the roads, and i have always felt like stopping them... But i fear to get scolded as people have a tendency to scold at the young ones when they point at your mistakes. Hopefully people who spit realise their mistakes after seeing this video.
They won’t, They very well know all the consequences caused due eating all these things, yet they eat it for personal satisfaction.. They don’t think about the environment, their own health & family, and other major factors caused by eating Pan masalas, Gutka, etc. They just cope that nothing will happen to them even when they see all the cancer cases, We can never make them realize this, the best thing our government could do is ban the Industry itself, but that would cause economy loss to the country..

Sane here. Now my treatment is going on and I am much better. Tb not just ruined my 12th and JEE, it severely affected my body and health. For a few months, I was not able to breathe properly as my chest would start aching and I didn't have strength to walk properly even for 5 minutes.
You have to take care of your diet properly and don't miss the medicines. May you get better soon.

I live in Southern U.S.... was recently reading up on TB. ( which used to be a problem here a long time ago) I was shocked to learn that India has one of the highest numbers of T.B. in the world. Now I know why! Thank you for helping get the word out on this horrible disease!

I'm from kerala, i couldn't see this things in my state. But when i travelled through northern states, i could even see more than hundred people doing this in a day. When I saw this at the first time I got the reason why some southern States performing really well. In my opinion we indians need some social etiquettes. I am a research scholar currently working on Tuberculosis. Thanks for bringing up this topic. TB is an infectious disease that was the leading cause of death globally before covid. Unfortunately even after so many years, and also due to emerging drug resistance cases, the treatment for TB is lengthy. Basic treatment is for 6 months and resistance cases require treatment for 12 to 24 months also. 1.6 million deaths have occurred in 2021. People have been cautious for covid so far, but have forgotten about the deadly existence of TB. Thanks for raising awareness through your videos. These would be of great help. Especially in country like India, which is the leading contributer in the global TB cases.
My uncle runs a store, I sometimes help out. When separating the individual Vimal packets, I always find 2 to 5 defective pieces. Defects in manufacturing, packaging and sometimes just sealed empty packets. Shows to me how much such an industry really cares about it's "customers". And Vimal isn't the only culprit, there's like 10 other names I can take which most people won't recognise.

being a dentist, i appreciate that finally someone talked about TB in a straight forward manner, many people are literally unaware, and others take life so lightly that they dont even care to inform us at very first place, they are like we just need teeth cleaning so batana zaruri nahi hai. And then there comes these idiots, ' hum toh sirf supari khate hai, woh saab nahi, so humko kuch nahi hoga' Scientifically apart from tobacco- Betel nuts, areca nuts, limestone - all are carcinogenic. definately cancers (oesophagial cancer, salaivary gland tumors,etc) & precancerious lesions like OSMF, Leukoplakia, etc. are not transmitted to other persons but they tend to reduce your body immunity(its effects are like bamboo seed, un noticed in initial days to 1 year) and TB other bacteria/viruses are just eyeing on you at that moment, and now you beacme the host.

I am so happy that you have raised this issue to such level. Being an EHS professional in infrastructure sector who deals with health and hygiene also at various projects throughout India, I am making my efforts to educate and audit employees to stop such consumption from last one decade. Kudos to you Abhi and Niyu.
Also, I have observed that majority of we Indians are ignorant and short tempered, from less to more. The minute one makes efforts in general public to stop such consumption, he gets ignorance or bashing or foul reply or the famous line, jao apna kaam kro na sahab. Whereas when one has authority such as at workplace or govt. implementation agencies, then such consumptions are better controlled. Today morning I heard the new radio ad campaign of SRK, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar of Vimal Elaichi with dialogue Bolo Zuban Kesri. I mean we all know it's a surrogate advertisement, elaichi kha k kiski zuban kesri hoti hai. As Abhi said in the video, distancing yourself from services of such people will hopefully make them realise to leave this habit.

Hey Abhi and Niyu. This is Shivangi and I am a student from class 12 and yes, I am a proud Indian and a humanitarian. I often read and research on various issues in India and ofc your works give me a kick. I really love them and I appreciate it from the core of my heart. I have been longing to ask you people something.
How can my friends and I as a student contribute in making India better in different ways. Like, all of us know that we have a limited social media reach, especially because we are students and also agreeing to the fact that all of us know that a lot of GEN-Z kids are IGNORANT about the same. So putting up status and stories won't really make much of a difference on a large scale. But we would really want to do something big. So is there any way we can help you people? We would be more than happy to help you people out and put our heart and soul into it.
I would wait eagerly for your reply. And also, even if I do not get one, I'll always try to make a difference from my side.

I feel if you are really into it you can start small for example you can volunteer in campaigns like Beach please or anything else too. What I actually practice myself is I never throw any packets whatsoever in public. There are packets in my bag always. Remember even a very small difference is still a difference you are making

They are in now way liable the spitting problem, nor should they be held responsible. The same logic can be applied to gun manufacturing companies not being held responsible for gun violence.

Who Thukiya eats pan masala or tobacco to protect someone or even themselves? These thukiya companies know that their product causes cancer. They sell it intentionally.
These companies should be "ATLEAST" made responsible to clean the Thuuks of thukiyas.

delhi metro me we hardly see stains from spitting . i think the other departments of transportation e.g bus stations , other railway stations etc they should learn the strategies adopted by delhi metro and implement it in a right way . the issue you have highlighted in this video is really so damn important . ❤

If we ask this simple question "are you going to spit on the road" while boarding an auto, it's gonna make a whole lot difference bcz when ppl would notice us they would do the same and slowly these pan masala eating drivers will not have much income , they are going to realise their mistakes and it will make a whole lot of difference.
