      @@amandagormley3007 Hi Amanda :-D I used to have a very large variegata Jade that would always grow to the side, these Jades have a growing habit of wanting to grow leaning over, I sometimes use a cane in the pot and tie up the plant with garden wire to support it, but you can let them grow leaning if you can let them lean over other pots for support, some of my other Jades I have to lean them over over pots for support, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Tuesday XXXX

    Oh I researched the newest cacti
    It is a prickly pear! Otunia speices!
    I believe I saw this in your collection.
    The research mentioned putting it in sun and allow it to be exposed to rain!
    I am very new to cacti
    Your comment was that it is a great plant for cacti beginners!
    So any helpful hints will be appreciated.
    I have 2 small Jades and one is wavy. The other is now leggy!
    Shall I repot or....
    Thanks again

    Portulacaria afra is a nice plant, and while it is not in the crassula family, it is commonly referred to as "dwarf jade". No actual relation to the jade plant however.
    People often use the terms "Gollum Jade" and "Hobbit Jade" interchangeably, when in reality they are two different cultivars with slightly different appearance. Search "Crassula Ovata Tolkien Group" on google and you will find a great article describing the differences in these mutated crassula ovata cultivars :)

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  5 років тому

      Hi Nancy :-D yes you can definitely plant a few Jade plants together, and they make wonderful plant bowl garden arrangements when different types of Jades are planted together, you can prune Jade plants back to any height you want as long as you prune then back by making the cut from just above a leaf ( node ) this encourages the plant/s to bush out and go more rounded, I need to give some of mine a trim in the next month or two haha and I will film a video when I do it to show you how its done :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXXXX

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  4 роки тому

      Hi there :-D the best thing t do is to check over the root system as the roots may have dried or died back, if there are no signs of any hidden root bugs then I would re pot them both into new fresh cactus and succulent soil, and it may give them a good boost to come back into growth again, you could also give your variegated Jade a good fertilising to help give it a good boost too, My gollum is very wrinkled and I will be giving it a good repot at the weekend too, I find that it kick starts them back into growth again, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and have a fantastic plant powered day today XXXX

    I love Crassula plants and this is a great video, I loved watching how beautiful they get once they grow!! 😍
    I have a few varieties as well, but they are still a bit small. One of them is rather big, even though it did fell off the balcony and onto the pavement, during a very windy day, broke into a million pieces, but I picked all of them up, placed them in a big pot and now I have a huge plant already!! I was amazed!!

    Nice old jade plant, reminds me of large plants I used to see in California with trunks 4 & 5 inches around. Old jades like yours are beautiful! Love the old plants!

    💜💜💜
    Have a great evening!!!! 😊
    (Sorry if I've already mentioned it, but this is my new-ish plant channel, if you'd like to check it out)
