Thank you so much for this video! The interior parts of my grill were literally rusted to the point of disintegration. But with your video, I had the confidence to replace all the interior parts myself and now the grill works better than it has in years!
Funny I found this video today. A neighbor a few blocks away left a 2 burner (E210) out at the curb. The guts were mostly gone, no grates, flavor bars, no drip tray and the burner tubes were partially rusted through. Ordered those parts from Amazon. I cleaned it up inside with some oven cleaner, left it to soak overnight, then hit it with the pressure washer. I paint-corrected the door and lid, then ceramic coated it. I removed the thermometer and Weber emblem, polished those up, too. It looks almost totally new and cost about $110 total to get working. The igniter wasn't functioning but that turned out to be a missing battery. We've cooked on it the past 3 nights and it has been flawless. This is a $450 grill so it's the neighbor's loss, I guess...
Put the grates in a garbage bag, spray them with oven cleaner. Let them sit in the sun for a day, then scrub with Scott pad and now you have clean grates
Thank you so much! I ordered the kit on your site and it worked perfectly. I have exactly that same grill so I was able to follow the instructions step-by-step as I watched the video. My husband was shocked when the very first time I turned it on it lit like a brand new grill! It took me a total of an hour and a half, and would’ve been less except for those pesky screws. Thank you for the comment about the back screws not really achieving anything because I could only take one of them out. But as you said they really are more like a brace. So for about $55 plus an hour and a half I saved us over $600 or more on a new grill!
I am overhauling my 12 yr old Weber Spirit E-310 this weekend, too. I am replacing the burners and flavorizer bars as well and I JUST ordered the kit from uniflasy, too lol. My grill is different though, the burner controls are off to the righthand side of the grill. Thanks for this video it will come in super handy.
Thank you for making the repair installation so much easier, Chris! Went as per video, contrary screw & all, (yes I had one too)?! All the best, Rola (Oregon)
Great video. I’ve cleaned those grates using vinegar, baking soda & dish soap. Let them soak for 2 hours then use a scrubber or a new wire brush attachment at the end of a drill.
You would be better off skipping the baking soda. When you mix it and vinegar together they react so it looks like it’s doing something, but it’s just neutralizing the vinegar making it pretty pointless. Baking soda mixed into a slurry with water is good as a mild abrasive and deodorizer, but mixed with an acid (which vinegar is) is just a waste of both component.
I’ll try it next time w/o the baking soda. Thankfully, haven’t needed to deep clean as I keep up after each use. Another idea I want to try is using a pressure washer.
Nice video! From my experience, I would never want stainless steel grates -- they will rust just as fast as if they were carbon steel. I give the cast iron grates on my Spirit grill a quick scrub with a piece of Scotch Bright pad before I cook, and they're good to go.
Just a bit of advice. Run a bead of clear silicone along the bottom seem on the outside and inside cabinet where the lags attach to the bottom shelf. This grill has a tendency to rust there. Because water gets in the seem. Even with the cover (Weber cover) I found the rain will bounce back from the deck or patio. I have had mine since 2012 and had to replace the bottom once. But that’s the only down fall to this grill. I am a Weber fan for life.
The burners don’t look so bad. Some steel wool or a wire brush/drill attachment might have cleaned those up. I see your point though - why not start with new elements. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I have this but with the extra burner “sear zone”. Also worth upgrading to steel in the grates , the porecelin coated ones go bad after 2 years but you can call Weber and get free replacement with in 2 years on them and the flavorizer bars and burners. I got them but decided to just go all steel for grill, flavor isles and warming rack.
Just picked up the same grill for free as well. The guy was getting rid of it because the ignitor didn't work. Changed the battery on it and it's fine. Now I'm replacing everything which is why I'm here. New Webber grill all for under $100 and an hour of work.niw I have 2 solid gas grills.
Cleaning grill plates: Warm the plates for a few minutes, then spray with straight vinegar. Allow to soak for several minutes. Ball up a fair size wad of aluminum foil and rub the grates like it was a scrubber. It scrapes all surfaces, including between the rungs. Do both sides and they look like new.👍
Great vid! I've gone through most of this with warranty parts from Weber. I'm now replacing my porcelain coated flavorizer bars and grates with stainless steel. Any thoughts on how to get rust stains out of the side tables?
Hey, very good video on the E 310 grill. I have the same grill and did basically the same thing except I did not need burner bars. Great grill and works great. Thanks
Those burners had 8 years left in them. A couple times a year I just take a small wire brush and clean off any rust or anything else that may be encroaching on the holes of the burners where the gas comes out. Runs perfect after.
I did the exact same thing a few years ago, but it was a Genesis 300 that my neighbor left out. Everything is working great now, minus the igniter. The assembly is in a little metal box, and it’s completely rusted to the grill body. I tried and tried, but couldn’t get it off. I just use a long stick lighter to light the thing.
I was hoping to avoid taking the front panel apart but I couldn’t get those 3 bolts out that hold the burner tubes down in the back… tubes could slide out toward the front,.. had to pull manifold back to get new burners in
No you don’t have to take the front panel off Just undo the back bolts on the burners may have to use vice grip on them they get covered in cunk. Then you can slide the back small ignition burner out from the left and right burner. And lift and slide them out and the middle one will do the same. So easy.
Also had a neighbor that gave me the bigger Weber Genesis II that she had bought for her now kicked out ex boyfriend 😂😂😂. My wife asked why I expected it. I told her a free nearly $1100 grill??? Why the hell wouldn’t I. 😂😂😂
Thank you so much for this video! The interior parts of my grill were literally rusted to the point of disintegration. But with your video, I had the confidence to replace all the interior parts myself and now the grill works better than it has in years!
And a lot cheaper than a new grill! Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Thanks mate. This really helped me figure out how to take the old burners out. I now have nice new burners in my grill. Give it a run tonight.😊
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Did you get the same kit he got? I saw some reviews that they were too short. Did you have any issues? You got the e310?
Unfortunately, I can't remove the screws of the burners because they don't have a real head anymore, they are rusted. Poor quality.

Nice work! And the operative word is “work”. That’s something your neighbor was unwilling to do.
@@handydadtv Thanks! More like it - I think a vast majority of people really have no idea how to fix things. It broken = just throw it away.
@adoss7273 I hate the disposable mentality. You’re doing it right.
Put the grates in a garbage bag, spray them with oven cleaner. Let them sit in the sun for a day, then scrub with Scott pad and now you have clean grates
Good tip!
And after you do that, you can re-season the cast iron grill by lightly covering the grate with vegetable oil and grill it covered for about an hour.
Great video Handydad. Clear and concise. Videos like your and others that get to the point are always appreciated. Thanks again!
Thanks so much 😊

Your husband is a lucky man. 👍🏻
He call's me his "Handy-wife". 😀@@handydadtv
Wow that’s a alltimer free grab. Those grills are the best.
It’s over $600 new!
Hey Thanks. I looked for an hour on Weber's site and google to see how the igniter came off the tube. Cleaned burner tubes and ordered new.
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻

Any link for a video on that model?
Everything fit right? I'm about to do this too.

Thats not my experience on the Florida beach.
My exact grill, same issues. Used the link to buy the parts too. Thanks for the detailed video. Great stuff
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you!!!! I had to loosen the front piece because my back bolts are just nice rusty gobs - but I did it!!! It works!
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
You’re a calm teacher.
Thanks
This video was so helpful! Thank you! What’s that little chain supposed to do? The one that hangs near the ignition?
That’s to light the grill with a match if the igniter dies.

Great video. Real. Simple. And to the point.
Thanks so much 😊
Very helpful!! Thank you! I do believe I can do this myself!
Absolutely

The kit really wasn’t expensive and I wanted to start fresh.

I guess I should be happy this one’s plastic. They don’t last long either way.
Can anyone please tell me what size screws hold the burner tubes to the frame? My kit didn’t come with any and my old ones are shot to hell
Sorry I don’t know.
Nice job.
Thanks 😊
Those original burners looked to be in very good condition. Should have just cleaned them with a soft bristle wire brush. Good video.
Thanks
@@handydadtv But I understand why you replaced them anyway since they were in the kit. 👍😎
@vociferon-heraldofthewinte7763 If yours are in good condition, you can get just the parts you need.
Did my Weber today and had to use vice grips on the same screw.
Interesting. Same issue.
Nice job and instruction sir !
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻

Yup
The screws holding in my burner tubes are so rusty I can’t get them out!
You may not need to remove them completely. I discovered they don’t need to be tight.
If I just want to replace the burners, do I need to take off the knobs and front cover?
I don’t think there’s enough room to remove the burners without retracting the valves, which is done from the front.
No you don’t have to take the front panel off Just undo the back bolts on the burners may have to use vice grip on them they get covered in cunk. Then you can slide the back small ignition burner out from the left and right burner. And lift and slide them out and the middle one will do the same. So easy.
Does GS 4 have a battery? Can’t find it.
Not sure
When ordering I see there’s different sizes to choose from like 3.5 or 2.6 what measurement is that for?
Not sure. Spacing?
@@handydadtv Not sure either. Was hoping you knew😆
Depends on your model of grill? There is different spacing for the 200 & 300 series. It's in the Amazon description.
Very helpful video. Thank You !!
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
I need to buy this kit what reference ist for the sen grill please
Link in description
I have a small Weber grill and I have to replace the igniter
That’s very typical. Not hard.
And thank you very much
My pleasure!
Surprised you didn’t check the battery in the igniter before replacing it.
Of course I tried that.
Also had a neighbor that gave me the bigger Weber Genesis II that she had bought for her now kicked out ex boyfriend 😂😂😂. My wife asked why I expected it. I told her a free nearly $1100 grill??? Why the hell wouldn’t I. 😂😂😂
Outstanding! 👍🏻
I thought stainless steel did not rust?
It is rust resistant but not rust proof. And applying heat (such as in a BBQ) helps speed up the oxidizing process.
Yeah nothing lasts forever.
use never sieze on the screws just a tiny bit
Thanks for the tip
I have put my grills into my oven and ran a self clean.
That’s a good idea. But I brought new ones for $38.
cover the grates with aluminum foil and put the grill on 500
Thanks for the tip
