Do you have any tips on what to do if you're literally shaking and crying. Like, i don't have a choice on giving the talk because my dads in the bishopric, but i haven't stopped crying and shaking all week and idk what to do. And its going to be so embarrassing if i cry and hyperventilate at the pulpit. Can you give me any last minute advice on that specifically, please?
First of all, it sounds like (because of the crying and freaking out) that we are making this into a Waaaaayyyy bigger deal than it is! So don’t let it become gigantic. I’d try some thoughts like “it’s just a 3 minute thing where I can totally read the whole thing.” Then, honestly just read your talk! I know I said don’t do that but we all are starting at different levels of experience and I would say a huge win for you would just be able to get up, read your talk without freaking out and sit down. And how amazing is that!! I know it doesn’t seem like it but this is such a great experience for you to start practicing those speaking muscles because at school you’ll be asked to present too. So keep it simple, celebrate your win of being brave enough to do it, and don’t make it into a bigger deal than it is!
Yes pray that you at least read or practice your talk at once..2..3..4 times even better...and each time...a few minutes bf it's your turn..take one to 3 deep breathes..I when you get up to the podium pause at least ,4-6 seconds and..one more time take a deep breath during the pause..and if your up to it..give your best possible smile 😊
I truly want to give and inspirational talk. And I want it to invoke my powerful feelings about the gospel! But I don't have much experience talking at all!
