    Airbus already made us know how good the A321LR was with the capacity of being able to do transatlantic flights, and they now come with another aircraft that can easily take you up to cities like Havana, Dallas, Denver... truly amazing

      Yes it is truly amazing if the airlines open up new routes connecting together cities that would normally require a connection. The airplane is really comfortable, smooth and quiet!

      Comfortable in business. Of course it is. What a statement is it this? Try 9 hours on a narrow body in economy. In wide body you can walk and stretch as long as you want to.
      Those who promote and defend small planes for 8-10 hours flights (where you can't walk, crew can't work and turbolences are much stronger) are the same criminals who defend the covid and enviromental madness etc etc. Just to get us back to the stone age.
      Instead of advancing we go backward. In everything.

      you don't need a 3rd ACT to do transatlantic. The A321neo with 2 ACTs can also easily do those routes

      I will always prefer a widebody on any route for the thrill of it, but the business seat on this one was great, did not feel cramped at all!

    At the end of the day, it's still a narrow body aircraft, and whilst the Bizz class looks combatable is also looks very claustrophobic, then at the back the normal 3x3 seating is no different than a normal A320 series aircraft, so my thoughts on flying a 7 hour Atlantic flight in a tight, claustrophobic cabin is not a world class game changer, I would still use a 787 or A350 over this to fly the same route.

    • @welcomeaboardHD
      @welcomeaboardHD  Місяць тому +3

      I can assure you that the business class seat is really comfortable, you get a great sense of privacy. The economy seats offer the same space as on a widebody. But I’m with you, would choose a widebody all the way! Nothing like the thrill of feeling the powerful engines and the way the big birds lift their nose up!

      It all depends on where you are flying from and to. It might be the case that this is a route that involves a stopover, in which case the A321XLR is potentially a game changer by offering a direct service.

      Ojalá, sería estupendo y algo increíble. Pero lamentablemente no creo que suceda. En Europa la clase business seguirá siendo así durante mucho tiempo. Sin embargo hay varias rutas donde operan aviones de fuselaje ancho:
      Iberia Madrid-Londres A350
      Air Europa Madrid-Barcelona, Madrid-Las Palmas y Madrid-Amsterdam B787
      Finnair Helsinki-Londres, Helsinki-Amsterdam y Helsinki-Las Palmas A350

    Found the registration hilarant lol, EC-OIL (sounding like "easy oil"), funny name for a plane promising such low consumptions over so long routes lol.
    If they could only extend the range for a couple of hours more, then Iberia would be able to fly most of the Americas from Madrid with this plane. With the current range, they can make the US East coast and maybe Brazil and some Caribbean destinations, as those are between 6-10 hours of flight. But Extending it to 12 hours would allow Iberia to have regular flights to the US West coast (where wide planes are harder to fill for them), half Mexico (including DF), and a lot of secondary (in terms of air traffic volume to Europe) destinations in South America.
    Also I think the configuration of this plain is particularly good for the longer european routes such as the one you did. Madrid-Stockholm is around 4 hours, making it in one of these planes must be way better than making it in the average crapmpted european flight. Unfortunately that business class is not flexible enough to make it work in the long run for European flights. Would you think people would pay the extra to fly the >6 hours of a Stockholm-Tenerife flight on one of these? I know it's not Iberia's business but would be nice if IAG flew these routes with Iberia Express or Vueling using these planes.

    • @welcomeaboardHD
      @welcomeaboardHD  Місяць тому

      Yes the name is cool, it means it goes easier on the oil 😁 This plane could reach great parts of the US (not the west coast), as well as Cuba, Republica Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, parts of Colombia and Brazil. But this plane was actually intended for Aer Lingus, which is closer to the US and probably have less passenger demand. Due to agreements between pilots and unions, it was finally given to Iberia so they will make the best of it.
      I fly European business quite a lot, and actually like it, despite the regular seat you get. Would of course prefer a real business class seat. And I do believe there is a market for it. Every time I fly business in Europe, the business class is full. If you can have this product on a european flight of 3 hours +, I think many would pay 400 to 500 euros. And some even more. For the shorter european flights, there is no need for this luxury, although it would be nice 😁
      This plane is fantastic, like its said in Spain, «es la hostia»

      Tenerife - Stockholm is a route you can fly with a regular a321.
      Iberia should open new thinner transatlantic routes with the Xlr, Madrid - Boston is already served by Iberia's a330s.
      They should open new routes from other Spanish cities to the US, particularly during the summer months.

    The only problem with single aisle on long haul is the difficulty to get to and from the loo while food and drinks trolleys occupy the aisle, no option to move to the other aisle. I also hear that for the flight attendants the Iberia config means a very small galley considering full meal service.

  • @KohlerSAStudios
    @KohlerSAStudios Місяць тому +2

    Great video well done. This airplane ✈️ is great because it allows Airlines to offer lie flat business class seats on short haul flights in Europe and long haul flights.
    Of course there will be a price difference but if you want to experience a lie flat business class seat you will pay a higher ticket price than what you would pay for a business class seat that only offers a leg stretcher.
    Demand for a lie flat business class seat for flights in Europe might actually be very high because if you want to experience a lie flat business class seat, you have to book a long haul flight which is always more expensive than a short haul.
    So with the A321XLR you have a chance to experience lie flat business class seats for a short haul flight. Even if the flight is only one hour , the business class ticket will most likely be cheaper than a long haul flight and people that have never experienced a lie flat business class seat in their lives will now have a an opportunity. Even if your short haul business class flight is only one hour , you can still experience it and have a nap on the plane ✈️

    • @welcomeaboardHD
      @welcomeaboardHD  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you for the comment! You raise some good points. My experience on this aircraft was great. The seat was better than Iberia’s Lie flat seats on their A330 and A350s.
      European business class should offer a much better seat than what it does today. People are willing to pay. All the times I fly business in Europe, it is completely full, so the market is there!

    • @KohlerSAStudios
      @KohlerSAStudios Місяць тому

      @@welcomeaboardHDfor sure and I’m making up numbers here but in theory airlines like Lufthansa could charge say €240 for a business class ticket with extra legroom from Frankfurt to Madrid…. But they can also offer lie flat business class seats for €400, 00. So it gives more choices for the customers . Because on average a lie flat business class seat on a long haul flight is €3 000 - €5 000. So just for sake of experiencing business class , European airlines should definitely offer lie flat business class seats on their short haul flights and that way people that have never flown business class lie flat seats before will have a chance to experience it because lie flat business class seats are only offered on long haul wide body aircraft

      Evidently you didn't experience transatlantic jet travel in the 1960s, when all aircraft were single aisle. That was supposedly the "golden age of air travel". Personally I would have no issue with flying long haul on the A321XLR. It looks very comfortable and no doubt the fares in relative terms are a fraction of what they were in the 1960s.

    No creo que afecte mucho que tenga un solo pasillo para un viaje de 7,8 o 9 horas, lo importante es la comodidad y espacio para no tener que viajar apretado como un albóndiga, que la capacidad del los compartimentos del equipaje de mano sean grandes y accesibles. Que el consumo sea bajo de un 30% menos es una gran noticia, lo que me inquieta y no me emociona, es tener un mechero de 13 toneladas de combustible debajo de mi culo.

      Gracias por tu comentario. Estoy de acuerdo contigo. La comodidad en este avión está igual que en los aviones de doble pasillo. Los asientos business son lie-flat, y son buenísimos! Probé los asientos economy tb, y son iguales, con la misma distancia entre filas que los A350. Además con este tipo de avión, se podrán abrir y/o mantener rutas que de otra forma no fuera posible. Bueno, lo del mechero, espero que se haya diseñado para que jamás haya ningún inconveniente 😁

    I will never fly a single aisle aircraft on the Atlantic run. That's too cramped.
    I can't afford to put a family of 4 on an international business class flight. Even premium economy is far too overpriced.

    • @welcomeaboardHD
      @welcomeaboardHD  Місяць тому

      I completely understand that! But I can assure you that the space between rows is really good, at least on this specific plane/configuration. Myself however, business or economy, I will always prefer the joy of a widebody!

    • @neiss2
      @neiss2 Місяць тому +3

      What marks the difference in comfort on an aeroplane is not the width of the aircraft but the seats arrangement and configuration that a particular airline has chosen. Flying on a A380 or a 777 with 9 or 10 rows abreast, sharing the space with 600 people cramped like chicken on a factory farm has nothing to do with comfort. On the contrary, flying on a plane with little over 150 people makes the trip much more enjoyable with a distance between seats in economy class that can be the same, or even bigger, than the one on a 777. Flying in smaller aeroplanes equals more comfort, as counterintuitive as it may sound.

    • @Alboravin
      @Alboravin Місяць тому +1

      @@neiss2 Correct. Seat arrangement and leg room is key. Only thing I will say is that when you want to get up and move around for a bit to stretch those legs on a long haul flight the extra room in the aisles and galleys of a widebody is a big plus. Doing some leg stretches for 5 minutes in the galley/restroom area of a narrowbody is awkward at best and probably getting in the way of everyone, particularly the cabin crew.

    • @The_Red_Squirrel
      @The_Red_Squirrel 26 днів тому

      Given the option of flying direct I have no issue if the aircraft is single aisle. What's far more important is that the seat is comfortable as I will spend most of my time seated.

      @@welcomeaboardHD Me ha encantado el video. Me ha parecido muy bueno. Te felicito por el reportaje y la experiencia de primera mano, sortudo :).
      My "rabieta" fonética ocurre porque Iberia es una palabra española, no Inglesa. Así que si los espanoles no decimos "britis airbais" sino que pronunciamos British Airways lo mejor que podemos, en inglés, no veo por que al hablar en inglés tenemos que decir 'aibiria', siendo Iberia un nombre propio, no un nombre común, con una pronunciación muy definida y sin ambigüedades. El castellano tiene una correspondencia entre lo escrito y lo hablado muy bien definida ( a diferencia del Ingles - por ejemplo, como pronuncias "read" 'rid' o 'red'? Eso en castellano no ocurre). LLevo viviendo en UK muchos anos y lo de aibiria todavía me chirría en los oídos. Y no veas como pronuncian algunos "vueling" :)))
